It would basically allow (I think) a 3D image to be projected in thin air. Either that, or a 3D image to be projected on a wall.

It's use in gameplay, I don't really know. I suppose what it could be used for is direct contact with the image while manipulating it with the Wiimote.

It's just an SD card slot guys, get over it.

It's pretty clear that it contains a camera as well, actually. I don't have the URL onhand, but I recently saw a photo with the slot opened and there's a very camera-like lens there.

Omnislash124 Jun 14, 2006 01:59 PM

It may be an SD card, but I just like the idea of being able to play GB/GBC/GBA/DS games on the Wii, as to not make those games obsolete (at least the GB/GBC titles)

Ya'll know what it's really for.

So the price of the virtual console games themselves....I heard it's between $4.00 and $9.00? Is this true? Because that's not bad at all.

FatsDomino Jun 16, 2006 03:22 PM

That's a reasonable guess and from hints that's likely, however there has been no set price set yet. As usual we're in the dark.

Malmer Jun 16, 2006 04:23 PM

Found this somewhere between internets.

It's all good, only I liked the bigger A button.
Oh, and I'm starting to loathe the inevitable use of a house-symbol for "home". Bring back the simple blue dot(!)

I just made this thread go into even more trivial tidbits :(

Actually, Iwata confirmed that exclusive games on the VC (games developmed by small, low-budget teams just for the VC) will cost between $4.50 and $8.99 USD. Source.

Skinnied, fattened and slimmed, but apparently they're STILL throwing ideas around. Oh dear. Bring it out by Oct/Nov this year Nintendo!

On a brighter note, it's great to see NOAustralia garnering Wii attention. Saw a few ads and deals from Toys R' Us and other SMALLER GAME STORES (unlike EB). Screw you EB, where's my Wii? PS3 in November WOOPDEDOO.

"I saw a few stores getting ready to campaign for the Nintendo Wii. What about you guys? Any word on the release date?"
"What's the Wii?"
"... Uh... The new name for the upcoming Nintendo Revolution."
"Oh must be just recently cause we've never heard of it before."
"Toys R' Us did. Video Gaming Heaven did."
"Um... Okay. For the time being though, you should check out PS3 over there..."

And finally to clear things up, I've read all the posts about it here but is it that both the Wii-mote and the nunchuck add-on have motion sensors? IS it that the Wii-mote has gyroscopic technology whereas the nunchuck only has tilt sensor? I need some clarification for my own sanity -_-'.

Infernal Monkey Jun 23, 2006 12:57 AM

Yeah, the Aussie Toys R Us are giving away a free game with the Wii if you pre-order now, which is pretty awesome.

map car man words telling me to do things Jun 23, 2006 06:54 AM

By game they obviously mean FREE NINTENDO SPORTS DEMO DISC =o

Infernal Monkey Jun 23, 2006 07:29 AM

If it includes that WiiSports Airplane, then that'd do!
"THIRTY SECOND TIME LIMIT"

Then Iwata appears on screen, laughing. :(

I'm usually waaaaaay too late when it comes to this, but some website has the "Big Secret". I'll quote it now, just to spoil the surprise.

Nintendo Wii big secret revealed

The Nintendo Wii secret wasn't what you thought.

Nintendo fanboy's have been obsessing over every detail of information that Nintendo has released about their upcoming next-generation console, the Wii. While tidbits have leaked out and theories have been formed, one bit of rumor has been floating around for quite some time. Fans, analysts, and journalists alike have obsessed over a simple flap on the upcoming console, claiming it to be Nintendo's next big secret.

Nintendo of America's president, Reggie Fils-Aime, has finally broken the silence on the big secret. It's... not a secret at all really. The flap turns out to be the port for the storage media of the Wii.

In an interview with Game Informer, Fils-Aime said, "That is where an SD card goes. That's storable media. And on top are the attachments for the GameCube controllers."

So much for a big secret. Fils-Aime went on to include that SD cards won't be the only memory storage available to the Wii, "It will be one of the memory mediums, and it's the only one that we've announced."
What the hell was the point with holographics, anyway?

So... An SD-reader? Not too bad. SD-cards are cheap. Way cheaper than "real" memory cards. As long as I don't have to buy silly memorycards, like this generation, I'm satisfied!

Omnislash124 Jun 28, 2006 08:55 AM

Lol, talk about overhype, but it's still good, SD cards really are cheap. And they're much more universal. And compatible with your computer. Lol, I see some people hacking into their saves. or at least FAQs on how to hack your saves.

NovaX Jun 30, 2006 12:36 AM

HUZZAH!

K_ Takahashi Jun 30, 2006 01:40 AM

The Synch will probably link other systems so multiplayer games can deal less with connection issues.

RABicle Jun 30, 2006 02:37 AM

Or more likely, the sync button will sync the contents of your flash drive with your SD card.
