Retconned. The Conmara clan is enormous.
|
In the face of Brady's recent madness and Garr's inexplicable meltdown I'd just like to remind everyone to never play a human fighter, ever.
It's a dangerous road, friends. |
Ah, but Lehah's still fine!
Whelp. For now, I guess. You're currently sane, right Lehah buddy? |
Play a half-elf fighter. A mul fighter. Even a revenant fighter who used to be human. BUT BY NO MEANS SHALL YOU BE PURELY HUMAN, YE FIGHTERS
BY NO MEANS DARE THAT WILDERNESS LeHah was crazy BEFORE, that is no proof of safety! Or maybe the effect is limited to Human Sword & Board fighters, nobody's tried a two-hander or a dual-wield build yet, let alone the sweet goodness of the brawler fighter We must forge into these areas, for science |
Argumentus was portrayed as Dumb Muscle with a learning disability. Garrmondo was a cynical Knight in Sour Armor. Delic, of course, was the quintessential Cloudcuckoolander.
So perhaps, a case of metagame transcending into real life? |
I am even toying around with DMing a satirical RPG about teenage vampires, but I'm currently having my soul crushed by school and other obligations in which I just don't think I'd be able to devote the necessary time to it.
Anyways, Pang, here's my suggestion, supposing Hawk doesn't want to DM after all, which would itself probably solve all our problems: Everybody is retired after one adventure. Either one or two current members are chosen randomly (or amongst themselves, if it can work itself out) to move into the next adventure solely for continuity of storyline. I think that 3 or 4 months for one adventure is enough for one time, with the chance of continuing later if lucky. Obviously the recurring members for the next adventure would have to exclude anybody who has previously recurred. Just my take. |
Question: is standing up from prone not a move action? Meaning I should have had an AoO on the Monitor?
|
Well, the monitor was never adjacent to you. If you mean the marauder (spear guy) then no, standing up is a move action but doesn't provoke AoOs. AoOs just care whether you're leaving a threatened space, not what kind of action you're taking.
|
Dammit, I just can't remember what enemy is what.
|
Okay, after Glenn's attack the monitor is dead, the mopup should be fairly manageable now.
|
Not accounting for the other guy stealing all of our weapons, of course.
I keep forgetting we still have Cal around somewhere. Though if he stays in that form Glenn might accidentally start attacking him too... edit: Pang, what do i need to look at for purposes of trying to start up another parallel game? I've got maptools downloaded and sort of figured out, but i lack the income to purchase books / d&di subscriptions. |
You'll need some textures and stuff for maptools (Pang hooked me up with this huge torrent). As for the books, you'll survive without ddi if you download one of those 4e compilation torrents, and there's quite a lot to be found. For example, http://www.demonoid.com/files/download/2357445/2688245/
You'll also benefit from having Adventure Tools installed (already in the torrent). Just apply the latest update and you're good to go. The October one should be coming out soon. Don't kill Cal, please. He has a shiny gold token! That proves he's a friendly! |
Perhaps you should shapeshift into the Whip and try and command whatever minions you can to flee the scene, even the ones in the water. We'll just assume I said that in game.
|
Well, wvlfpvp's still up. Maybe he can wipe the minions out with his at-will. Let's see how his turn goes first.
In any case, Cal's unable to communicate in Deep Speech. Puyet could conceivably attempt to intimidate. I guess pantomime is not an option since marauder's hostile. |
Agh, torrents. I'll have to wait until i go home in a few weeks.
Also, even if there is a gold ring around your character, Glenn didn't see Cal shift - as far as Glenn knows, Cal is swimming with the fishes. As things stand right now, if GFZ were to for some inexplicable reason finish the battle, Glenn would logically move right on to attacking the Calfish. Just saying - if you don't want to get killed by your teammates, don't turn into an enemy or we may be forced to slaughter you strictly for RP reasons. |
You can download the textures separately at your leisure via HTTP:
Index of /Mapping As for the books, Deni, Pang and I can probably hook you up with whatever you might want (strictly speaking you can probably make do with just DMG1 and DMG2). There's DM Essentials material too, though I don't have Essentials stuff yet. ____ Glenn's undoubtedly seen the Calfish stick it to the Monitor. And he's about to stick it to the Marauder (or the minions if GFZ misses them or otherwise forgets to take his turn). Surely that'd give him a pass? :p |
I think the best idea for guild party selection is a two-consecutive-adventure maximum, have everyone interested in the next adventure say so and which character they'd like to put in to it and then pick at random from that field. Have the guild run by some mentalist type who makes weird decisions or something.
I already gave up on the Minotaur bard idea, we've had too many bards recently by far. I made up a Minotaur barbarian instead who's designed to kill entire groups of minions in one long succession of charge attacks before chopping up their boss with a big axe (A combination of things that make charges more effective, the power that lets you immediately charge when you reduce an enemy to 0hp, a few attacks that knock bad guys prone and a Greataxe that fucks up prone opponents). I plan on playing the character entirely as a pacifist mind you. And the name? Beefi Kertanz of course. |
Battle's winding down, so I guess we'll have packrat parachute right in.
Cal will be retired once (if?) we reach our destination. He has a hard time letting things go, and will probably travel the world with body parts of Garr and Denny, looking for someone who can raise the dead. Because of this, I'd like to call dibs only on the following minor inventory items that Garr was lugging about: - - Fuck You 1000 molotov cocktails - Stonemeal Biscuit - Horn - False Scroll Tube The rest, you fellas might find a use for (e.g. Glenn can use the gloves, Puyet the bandolier, GFZ the belt). |
God damn the boat might have some issues to attend to before you start looting your dead friends. Shit.
Plus I'm probably just going to have a wave toss the boat and throw Garrmondo into the sea, where he will be revived by the talented clerics of the merfolk only to discover he was secretly the shapeshifted lord of the merfolk all along and he lives happily ever after! JUST TO SCREW WITH YOU |
So like, what kind of skill does (attempting to) "give a rousing speech" (the Do Not Go Gentle trope) require? Diplomacy? Bluff? Plain charisma?
|
One of the points of a skill challenge, Zerg, is that you have to use your common sense to determine which skills would be best applied — granting bonuses for good rationales, penalties for shitty ones. If I were to answer questions regarding which skill should I use for X this would tend to defeat the purpose.
This is the bit where I open up the PHB to Chapter 5, slide it across the table at you, and smirk. I will say that ability checks are off the table since by definition they are not skills. |
So, couple of changes to announce.
First, with the Privateer FP we've officially added personal firearms to the campaign. When in a major port city, the items on the following chart are available as any other weapon. http://www.saxypunch.com/missile/firearms.png The stinger is a small, cheap pistol, essentially a black powder Saturday Night Special. The privateer is a reliable midrange pistol, less prone to dangerous misfires than most. The dragon is the most powerful handgun in the world, and will blow your head clean off. The gorgon, harpy, and medusa are effectively a rifle, grenade launcher, and shotgun respectively. All firearms share two mechanics; reload only on a 5 or 6 on a d6, and a risk of misfire. Misfire only comes into play if you roll a natural one while firing, so there's no need to explain that in detail right away. You can't BUY magic versions of these weapons, but you might find one. Also I should mention that these are all Exotic. Second, I'm dropping the whole Achievements business. I've realized that I've missed a few occasions where some of you should have earned one, and the amount of stat tracking necessary for others... well. Plus, they're not really interesting. INSTEAD: Drama Cards! If you do something awesome or achieve some personal milestone for your character or just make me laugh, you may get a Drama Card. Each card has a unique one-time ability that you can cash in at will. Some of them are just small bonuses, others straight-up allow you to seize narrative control of a scene. There are four tiers of these; I'm just straight-up rolling on a table so you're just as likely to get a Copper card as a Platinum. But even the Coppers can be worth saving for a rainy day. I say "you" get them, but earned Drama Cards are actually the property of the entire active group; therefore no one will take unused cards to their grave. Whoever actually earned it maintains veto control over its use, however (so long as they remain in the active party). Zephyrin, this is yours. http://www.saxypunch.com/missile/Drama_Think_Fast.png Third, packrat's not ready to play as it turns out so I'm movin' on down the list. News as it transpires. Edit: and Soluzar's not been around in a week, so maybe get comfortable as a foursome for a few days while I hash this out |
Thinking about getting an actual drill sergeant hat for my character. =x
|
Do these weapons have ammo requirements like every other ranged weapon, or is that offset by the reload roll?
|
You know what, tracking ammo is annoying anyway. Let's Not Do That Anymore.
Everyone has effectively infinite *MUNDANE* ammo for their ranged weapons forever. You're welcome. Just in time for Cal to retire soon ugh editing world's messiest inventory after every single attack (I say "effectively" because if i say literally infinite ammo then some of you will just stand outside the enemy fort pelting arrows through the windows for weeks on end.) The reload roll just offsets the kinda ridiculous damage on these things. |
