next, if you said you don't mind that they did...why did you post this in the first place? Quote:
and ya know what, let me ask you, in Halo...on legendary did you fight the flood? on Heroic...did ya fight the flood? On normal did ya fight the flood? Yes, Yes and Yes. People can give their own damn opinions and it won't be handicapped. |
Anyone here having disc reading problems?
Forums are now flooding with disc error problems. |
I've a question - does Legendary mode play fair like in Halo 1, or is it still the cpu cheatfest as in Halo 2? Specifically, regarding damage scaling (Halo 2 Legendary got you killed after 4 plasma shots, Halo 1 didn't scale that horribly - instead, the 4 billion grunts could actually aim and chopped you to pieces in big numbers).

Not really true. The person you responded to simply said "multiplayer". This includes splitscreen, LAN, AND online. Even without the online component, the game still received huge praise for it's multiplayer gameplay, and much of the talk about the game was about it's multiplayer (same with Goldeneye back in the day). For many, many people, their only experience with Halo was through playing multiplayer at a friend's house. In addition, the original Halo was online, in multiple ways in fact. The PC version (released a year before Halo 2) had full online multiplayer. The Xbox version could also be played online through Xbox Connect/Xlink Kai/Gamespy, a method which was strikingly popular (hell, it was pretty much the only game people played through those services). More than a few people owned the Xbox version of Halo and got the PC version only so they could play it online. |
Halo's multiplayer was thrown into the game at the last minute of development, admitted by its creators, Jason Jones and Alexander Seropian. The fact that the multiplayer aspect alone became so popular is testament to what a well designed game it was. Ironically, the original Halo still has some of the best multiplayer ever made.
I'm also aware of simulating LAN play using XBC and the like, as I used to do it all the time. Nevertheless, the game was never intended to for online play, so it can't really be considered an official component. I also don't consider the PC version official, as it was outsourced. |

"...so it can't really be considered an official component." Actually it can be simply because it's only manipulation of the original code. It doesn't matter what the intentions were. If it's on the disc and you can do it, it counts. I wouldn't have said this before GTA got hit with the "hot coffee" thing, but if it applies in law then it applies to all other aspects of gaming I say.
Also you can't just disregard something because you simply don't like it or agree with it. Just admit that you F'ed up and that Halo became big for it's multiplayer. If you had agreed from the beginning instead of going in circles with this technical crap no one would care and would have moved on by now, lol. |
That's the thing, if people were heavy on story wise, wouldn't people be more interested in RPGs?
|
Surely you ain't trying to say the only reason Halo's successful is because of multiplayer. Tell that to all the millions of novels (NYTimes best sellers), CDs, action figures, and other paraphernalia that constitutes the Halo Nation.
Did multiplayer play a big part? Sure. Did it make Halo the success it is? Nope. That's just haterade talkin'. |

Bioshock and Halo are two examples of high action games with a great storyline. Multiplayer doesn't make a game either, just use Bioshock as a example. |
The thing is I meant story wise in general, I know a great story can be told many ways. What I'm saying is that many people I've talked to looked into RPGs for a great story. Does that mean other genres can't do it as well? No. People have said they liked games like Starcraft, Heavenly Sword, etc. The thing is though, the vast majority of story falls within the RPG genre. Things like how Final Fantasy are, because people interest themselves in the story.

But then again, people also play games just for the multiplayer aspect, like Counterstrike, UT, Warhawk. (And I should have been sleeping a while ago, but I can't fall asleep :gonk:) |
OK... I'm going to blurt out shit here that I honestly had no idea of...
Tonight I played Slayer with my friend Meez and his buddies on Live and I noticed something when we got gravity-hammered-and-plasma-grenaded into beautiful oblivion... You know, on replay and shit: Spoiler:
We officially have utmost detail. |

Oddly enough, one of the previews for Halo 3 featured some of the production staff talking about Forge and Theater mode... and one of them was waxing lyrical over Warthog dashboard lights >_>
|
Speaking of RvB, have any of you heard the easter egg within the game?

The Warthog even had dash lights in the original Halo.

Oh man where do you find it? =D

Tell me what you make of this claim.
They mention Halo 3 isn't natively 720p, but 640p and then upscaled. I don't even know what the fuck 640p is but okay. |
