Back to what randomwab said...

Spoiler:
I seem to recall Weiss saying that he (himself) was in SOLDIER, so maybe he was the one on that mission...

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Aug 24, 2006 12:01 AM

Spoiler:
The entry on Crisis Core at Wikipedia says that the SOLDIER who sealed Genesis also died in the process (I personally haven't gotten the second or third G Reports yet, so I can't confirm). The only person revealed so far who would possibly fit that requisite is Angeal.

Vash Aug 24, 2006 01:17 PM

Makes sense. And ya, come to think of it:

Spoiler:
I do recall the G Reports saying that the person who sealed Genesis died during the process. And since Angeal is the only character, aside from Zack, who doesn't make it into FFVII, that seems to prove it.

randomwab Aug 24, 2006 02:53 PM

Y'argh

Spoiler:
There is a picture on Wikipedia of Angeal looking up and lots of feathers floating down. In the hidden G ending, when he begins to fly away, there are alot of feathers floating down

Fricking Tasty I say!

......This is what everyone's been bitching about?

Spoiler:
Hojo making a copy of his brain data and dumping it on one of his experiments?

Seriously, that's it? All this talk about the story being absurd, I was expecting something way out there.

Spoiler:
The Joker did the same damn thing in Batman Beyond. It makes more sense for Hojo, the same psycho genius who created Sephiroth and a bunch of other experiments to leave a copy of his brain behind than it would for the freaking JOKER to do the same. And I didn't hear anyone bitch when Joker did it.

So tired of purists whining about "wah wah square is butchering a classic." What exactly were you expecting in a game where Vincent is the lead?

Spoiler:
If AC has a reunion with Cloud and his greatest enemy, it's only obvious they'd do the same thing with Vincent and his.

Well I haven't finished the game yet. I'm up to the final battle. The image of
Spoiler:
a giant Omega Weapon hovering above the ruins of Midgar
is going to stay permanently etched into my brain from now on.

Also,

Spoiler:
the Lucrecia flashback was just nutty. I was hoping with all that buildup we'd get confirmation that Vincent was Sephiroth's father, but I was left in the cold with another wave of damn apologies. Come on, dammit, break the fourth wall.

SouthJag Aug 24, 2006 04:31 PM

Wait a minute...

Spoiler:
I thought Sephiroth was the love-child of Hojo and Lucrecia. In fact, it even says so in the timeline poster that came with the strategy guide...

And no, you don't actually NEED a guide for this game -- got it for it's "collector" value. Whatever that is.

I didn't like the long monologues and bad (japanese) acting. I wished Vincent would just blast his face right there than to listen to his shit

Exactly. That's why it would be a twist. A good one, too.

I finished the game. I don't want to make any final impressions until I see that Gackt clip (might just download a save file with all the extras), but I am very, very happy that

Spoiler:
Shelke survived. Now make her the new third female character for FFVII-2.

makura Aug 24, 2006 05:41 PM

If they make any more spin-offs, they better give Tifa a new outfit. It's a crime to cover up those jugs with that kinda leather vest.

I loved the part when..
Spoiler:
on the airship when you can walk around and talk to people, if you talk to Yuffie, she does her signiture punches "shhk shhk shhk!"
Can anyone capture a vid of that?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAa7mELaUc4 Japanese Gackt scene.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iivBYyji4Xw English dialogue part. As if it's really that important, he barely says anything.

randomwab Aug 24, 2006 05:52 PM

I too wanted

Spoiler:
Vincent to be Sephiroth's father. Vincent and Lucrecia could have done it during the picnic and it would have been a great story "HOLY CRAP" point. Might have even sold this many [------] copies of Dirge.

But ahh well.

Dirge is out done...when's the next piece of this Compilation coming? Is it Crisis Core or Before Crisis? And they better bring Before Crisis to the UK, i'll buy a new phone if I need to (which I will need to)

Soldier Aug 24, 2006 07:06 PM

BC could come first if NA gets a decent enough cellphone this year that can run it, since the dialogue is apparently fully translated. There's been so little news on CC, who knows when that one will be finished.

I'm fully convinced that if they go for another spinoff, Tifa is the most likely character for the next lead. Even if you don't factor in those hundreds of Loveless posters, she's the only character left with a somewhat incomplete story (Zangan's wherabouts, how she met Barret, and her contiuing relationship with Cloud. Unless you consider that last part to be Cloud's story, but I digress). Plus Barret would make a good secondary character, since their pre-FFVII stories interlap at one point.

I'm all for it, but then

I wonder if the majority of NA fanboys can possibly take it seriously.

I don't really want to watch the G clip on Youtube quality, so I'll just follow Gamefaqs and collect the other 2 reports.

And does anyone know where I can get some FMV screenshots? I'm looking for pics of

Why is Gackt's music actually good.

I think most people feel like that when they hear something they like by him. I didn't think I should like his music when I began to listen to it. If you want any stuff by him, throw me a PM.

What other FFVII things have we yet to get then bar CC and BC. There's the Dirge phone game and, and wasn't there another cell-phone game where you play as a SOLDIER? I remember hearing about it around the time of E3

Soldier Aug 24, 2006 08:01 PM

Unless you mean Before Crisis, I don't think they made any other cellphone games for FFVII (there's one for FFXIII).

As for other spin-offs besides BC and CC, nothing's been confirmed other than the statement that there will be "10 more years" of FFVII material.

The rest is all based on the little hints they drop off in the existing spinoffs. G's story may extend beyond Crisis Core (I really need to watch that clip); "Case of Denzel" (part of an official novel along with "Case of Tifa") takes place one year after DoC, in which Reeve makes mention that WRO is now an army and is currently at war; Then there's the remake, which at this point is obviously inevitable, since even Square won't stop talking about it, and the "final" story that will apparently wrap everything up forever and ever.

Basically, no one knows how many more spinoffs/remakes/sequels there will be. I guess the easy answer is "as long as they keep making money." But honestly, it doesn't bother me at all, because so far they have yet to do anything that screws with original continuity. DoC did a far better job of fleshing out Vincent than the original game could ever do. If it was something like FFX-2's hokey story about past lives and possesed dresses (!) I would understand, but so far the story decisions with FFVII have remained within the realm of possibility, as far as continuity goes.

So yeah, I hope the next game(s) can be just as fun to play as they are to watch.

Well I don't know if I want to suddenly start downloading albums from the guy, I'm just saying I liked the two songs he made for this game, especially Longing (except for the weird overture with the haunted house effects).

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Aug 24, 2006 08:29 PM

No, there's a Dirge of Cerberus cellphone game that's coming out. Dirge of Cerberus: Lost Missions, or something.

makura Aug 24, 2006 08:52 PM

I just watched the English version of Gackt..err.. G. It sounds like the guy is trying to sound like a vampire or something.

And his music, his albums "crescent" and "diabolos" are my personal favorites.

Vash Aug 24, 2006 09:29 PM

As much as I liked the secret ending, I don't really think there needs to be a spinoff of DoC (however, I think they should keep the spinoffs of FFVII goin' strong, that Tifa idea is rather interesting, with Barret as the supporting character. But I think the series should end with Cloud, since he's my all time favorite character, and also since he started this whole shebang in the first place). They wrapped up Vincent's story just fine, I was 100% satisfied with the story after I beat the game the first time, and even more so the second time in Extra Hard Mode.

Spoiler:
Is Nero part of Genesis? Because to me, when the guy said "My brother" it just screamed to me that he was Nero (since Nero was the only person in Deepground/Tsviets who called Weiss "brother". And is it me, or was Nero just a tad too intimate with Weiss? Kind of creeped me out.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Aug 24, 2006 10:06 PM

Spoiler:
"Brother" wasn't meant as literal. It was probably in reference to the fact that they've both undergone Mako conditioning.

Vash Aug 25, 2006 05:33 PM

Spoiler:
Ah, sometimes it wasn't clear whether they were blood brothers or not. Thanks for clearing that up

Soldier Aug 27, 2006 04:30 PM

Well, there's no way to tell if the relationship was literal or not. I don't think it matters much in the end, there was a creepy homosexual vibe going on.

Hmm....

I find the reference awesome, myself.

And I saw the Gackt video. While the live segment was both cheesy and cool at the same time, I am intrigued at what they have planned for the character. I was buying the whole "insanely powerful super soldier v.2" up until the Dracularoth accent. But it's going to make for one hell of a future boss fight, that's for sure.

Spoiler:
I just hope when he mentioned "brother", he didn't mean Sephiroth. Because you know, that wouldn't make much sense. Or would it? He's a prototype, so I dunno.

Hantei Sep 13, 2006 10:44 PM

Holy mother of crap! Someone actually made Cloud's 6 piece AC Sword!!! The thing is so damn detailed, and as movie accurate as possible, plus they can be combined together! However, you gotta be one crazy fan to pay the price tag ($800 USD for the sword + $700 shipping = $1500!!!), especially considering that it's made out of wood.

Quote:

This Auction Includes:

6 Swords ( The 6 swords can be combined together.)

The main sword is 170 centimeter long. It is made of high quality wood with painting outside.

The shipping fee is expensive because they are big and hard to ship.

Coolest darn AC related item I've seen. It looks just so accurate and crap. That'd look awesome on display :3

Vash Sep 18, 2006 10:24 PM

doesnt look like wood...some one did a nice shiny paint job lol

Simo Sep 22, 2006 06:28 AM

Commence double-dipping: Square Enix announced they'll be re-releasing Advent Children on Blu-Ray in 2007 which will be more of a "Director's Cut" that'll feature new scenes and changes to existing ones.

Soldier Sep 22, 2006 12:18 PM

....Should've known. Go to hell, Square Enix, you greedy sons of bitches. You make me sick.

*spits on the floor, goes to reserve blu ray edition*
