Well if anyone cares, Metaknight's moves were revealed through the special move descriptions. Looks pretty sweet...
And Andross should've always been an item. It just makes sense! |

Yeah, I remember aeroblast doing some kind of wobbly, circular motion instead of just being some simple being. It'd make sense given that it's basically just a sideways tornado.
|
Very nice how they nonchalantly revealed Metaknight's specials in a "how to play" segment. Also, am I the only one who thinks assist trophies are going to be the most awesome thing ever? It'll be yet another reason why tournament play will suck. (No assist trophies, they are too cheap. Also no fun. Games are about whose penis is larger duh.)
ALSO: Is anybody else getting a Live Fortune Telling ad for this page? "Great Kasamba, will Sonic be in Brawl?" "I dunno lol." |
Actually a considerable number of people are upset because of assist trophies because it means that their favorite secondary characters may end up unplayable. The Samurai Goroh assist trophy made a lot of people really mad and it was widely regarded as a bad move.

People are whiny pussies and need to grow the fuck up, though, so it all works out.

The reason it ticks me off is not because Goroh is my "favorite secondary character" or any of that shit. It's because the F-Zero series needs more characters in Smash Brothers than just Captain Falcon, and because I expect better of Sakurai. Samurai Goroh is the perfect candidate for a playable character because he has just as much of a story in F-Zero as Captain Falcon does, and even more possibilities for a moveset since he used swords in both the comic in the F-Zero instruction booklet and him and his son's F-Zero GX special movies. In both movies, the way he used his swords was much more sophisticated than the way Link or any of the Fire Emblem characters could hope to use their swords. He also exhibits a certain personality that additional moves could be taken from, like they did with Wario, or Bowser with his bully-ish style of fighting in Melee. In the comic, Captain Falcon used a gun and knocked a few people out with his fist and elbow. In his F-Zero GX movie, he saved a baby from a train. During the story mode, he didn't do anything but race in his F-Zero machine. I also like how he was given a holder for his gun on his leg in Melee, but never actually used his gun in the game. So what does Sakurai do? Keep Captain Falcon (We know it's going to happen since he was in the first two games. Why lie?), who is the main character of F-Zero but doesn't have shit for original moves other than exhibiting a "hero"-type personality, a punch and an elbow to the face (probably won't use his gun in Brawl.) ...And then ditch Samurai Goroh, who actually has some interesting original moves and a personality to base additional moves on and make him an assist trophy. Makes perfect sense to me. Other than that, all of the other assist trophies make sense since they only do one or two things in their original games. Hammer Bros., Knuckle Joe, Devil, Nintendog, SNES Andross, etc. Quote:
You posted that while I was typing this post. And there is more than enough justification as to why Samurai Goroh should be playable. |
Oh well, nothing we can do about Goroh. Guess our only hope now is to pray for Pico to be in.

If they're gonna put Andross in the game, they might as well put King K. Rool in the game as an assist trophy that drops cannon balls and crowns around the map.
|
It's pretty obvious that Samurai Goroh and Knuckle Joe would just be too powerful as controllable characters. Goroh would have two moves: slash, which would cut everything in half no matter what direction or if it even hit anything; roar, which would be his special where he'd just randomly scream and random shit would happen to everyone on scream like turning into jello and sprouting ears of corn all over their bodies. All of Knuckle Joe's moves would be various punches and crap but they'd all take out all of a player's lives with one hit in some sort of display of wacky violent spasms ala Fist of the North Star. Both characters' final smashes would set the Wii on fire and start playing the funeral march out of all available Wii controller speakers. Yeah, I can see why Sakurai dumbed them down and made them assist trophies.
|
Hmmm.... Original Andross don't look anything like the Andross from N64.
|
OH GEE I WONDER WHY THAT IS?!!

I agree with Joe Wiewel, well not exactly about Goroh, but Brawl needs more F-Zero characters, there are many of them and I wouldn't be surprised if Black Shadow (best name ever! lol) or Blood Falcon (clones FTW! yeah right) get in. When I saw Goroh I was happy to see someone from F-Zero join Smash, then I saw the "Assist Trophy", and I was disappointed.
Besides I wouldn't care if he joins or not, but what we really need is a "swordswoman", that's why I pray for Lyn, there are already to many sword-wielders, Meta, Link and I expect 2 guys from Fire Emblem but seriously wanting one of the guys to be a girl named Lyn. Oh and Smash also needs more Metroid related characters as Zero-Suit Samus doesn't count (hardly and excuse -.-) what about the new hunter in Corruption, or the ones in Hunters? or Dark Samus(she/he/it has a different arsenal, too different from Samus) Anyway, I could keep on dreaming, but time to get back to reality. I would be pissed if one of the next updates is about Meta-Knight moves -.-, I mean we got the "You must recover" update (aka getting back to the stage) as if it wasn't so obvious. |

Also, you're not the first person I've heard to mention that Lyn character. I'm sure the developers have considered many of the same possibilities we have, so let's just have a little faith in them. |
I was thinking Ridley too until I saw the Petey Piranha boss. Now it's seeming likely that Ridley will make an appearance as a single player boss rather than a playable character.
And why all the Goroh trophy hate? I seriously doubt the developers would have made him playable if they didn't come up with the trophy idea. Like the site itself says, assist trophies are chance for obscure or far too powerful/large characters to make an appearance as something other than a collectible. |
Yeah, but the thing is, no one likes Petey and I can't think of anyone who wanted him in, whereas nearly everyone I know who's anticipating this game wants Ridley in as a playable character. He could be both a boss and a later playable, for all we know, but I just hope that isn't the case wtih Petey... that character needs to fuck off in a horrible way.

Soo.... Today's update.
Finally, it's unveiled what some of the special moves are for Pokemon Trainer's Pokemon. Quote:
Bullet Seed is a pretty decent choice. Vine Whip was expected. I was hoping for something a little more ridiculous though for his Up Special... Maybe something like Solar Beam, where he turns upside down and uses the non-existent ground to push him up. Maybe that would've been a better choice for his Up Special. Flamethrower was a given. I'm upset about Rock Smash though. I was hoping for some Seismic Toss or something. Not that crap. But at least Rock Smash could cover for some massive damage. <_< |

Somebody failed their Intelligence Check.
Anyways, I hope they reveal another character this week. I do hope so much that they reveal Sonic the Hedgehog at some point. I mean, that would literally make front page news on Digg. |
Hey, could you guys like not hotlink images like assholes? That'd be pretty sweet, thanks.
|
Maybe I'm overly picky/intelligent, but why didn't they reveal all of the special moves? -_-"
|
Probably because they want to leave some stuff for you to find out when, oh I dunno, when you actually play the game. Yeah, probably that.
