I am amazed that someone finally mentioned how dissapointing the score is. The music was the only saving grace of the sequel, yet they managed to ruin it for the third. Bungie's concept of a new score is the subtraction of random instruments and beats, then adding some chanting from old sound banks.

I just sat there and laughed when Marty O'Donnell's name showed up in the credits. The actual person who did the music was probably some hack from Sumthing Else. I don't even see the point of a score release.

First time into this thread. :)
I did join up in a game though with a couple of GFF people. Before that I was in co-op on the campaign with Kairyu. The slayer matches with the rest of the others was a lot of fun also. Still focusing on finishing the game on normal in co-op, and we're looking to find some others to help complete it on legendary.

Push to talk is still the stupidest thing EVER in an FPS. I love the mute functions but fucking COME ON, ugh.

Slayer X Sep 26, 2007 08:31 PM

The push to talk feature in all games should just be a feature. Because people can always mute so what's the point in making P2Talk a standard?

@Megalith
I'm on chapter 7 and I thingk I've only heard one song that wasn't centered around the Halo theme... bore. Oh well, I suppose one only plays the game once or twice anyway.

Played the game a bit more today. It's good, but it hasn't really impressed me with anything new, yet. Hopefully that'll change once I get the game and give it a good play through.

Zeal Sep 26, 2007 09:07 PM

I can say that I'm really impressed with the netcode this time around. Four player co-op matches exhibit virtually no lag (unless you're hosting from a Wii) and multiplayer lag is hardly noticeable.

This game will be played for years based on co-op alone.

Precisely. With all the quick mute features, the ability to automatically mute people on the other team BY DEFAULT, and so forth, push to talk is a major inconvenience that only distracts the player and can end up costing teams shit if a player forgets about it.

russ Sep 26, 2007 09:34 PM

Ok, good. I thought I was the only one who felt like that push to talk crap is the most retarded bullshit ever. You'd think this is something that would have been complained about enough in the beta to have gotten eliminated.

Kostaki Sep 26, 2007 09:35 PM

I personally see nothing wrong with the game, campaign co-op is pretty intense when you're playing with people you know and the multiplayer is a step up from Halo 2 though I don't really like how you have to jump through so many hoops to do or play something anymore.

Love how the Brute Shot is useless now though, and it seems like any close quarters battle with someone can go just about either way no matter what weapon the other guy is holding.

I like the game for what I've played of it, but I'd rather not pass judgment on it until I've played enough of it to warrant doing that.

Zeal Sep 26, 2007 09:46 PM

This is easily the best Halo yet.

Also, the aim of the Brute Shot has been greatly improved by removing the arc and bounce of its rounds. Highly effective weapon, especially for melee.

Kostaki Sep 26, 2007 10:44 PM

Yeah, it is much easier to aim but it used to only require you shoot someone twice with it to effectively own them in Halo 2, now it requires at least three times to kill them. As for using it close quarters, it's sluggish enough to where someone with a faster weapon will almost always beat you since you won't get an immediate kill if you fire a shot from it and then melee with it. If you had an Assault Rifle and used it, then switched to the Brute Shot and melee'd that could be effective provided you have time to do it.

But like most weapons, it's all situational. I'm sure the Brute Shot would be awesome against vehicles now, though I haven't tried it.

Kagosin Sep 26, 2007 11:10 PM

Only thing about the whole push to talk problem, is that there are matches where you can talk at your own leisure, and other matches where you need to push to talk, so isn't there anything around within the game that enables that?

Tails Sep 26, 2007 11:43 PM

Any time you have more than 4 people on a team you have to push to talk.

Can't change it, apparently.

FatsDomino Sep 27, 2007 08:18 AM

I'm not familiar with "push to talk". Is there a button on the mic part that you have to press or something? I don't remember seeing it while playing last night - only a mute/mic_on switch. I'm sure I'll figure it out but uh gonna ask anyway.

Also last night was fucking awesome. First time on Live and I had a blast. Started it by asking for some help from Zeal on those giant walker things in campaign mode. I couldn't for the life of me find the weak point once I was on top of it. I crawled all over it and found nothing. Zeal and I were about to take it on again when we decided to join in with the #xblive crew instead for some massive multiplayer action. Oh, I sucked and I got the least kills most of the time (although that one round which I was opposite Team Awesome I somehow managed to get the most kills, like 10 or something, regardless my team was still raped beautifully) but I had a ton of fun. So glad I got a 360. I definitely have to do a long campaign session with you guys this weekend or something. Thanks for the good times. =)))))

russ Sep 27, 2007 08:23 AM

You have to press the directional pad to talk.

Bigblah Sep 27, 2007 08:26 AM

I'm not sure how Bungie managed it, but I can now MP with people across the world (well, except Skills) with little lag. Vast improvement from the beta netcode.

Meleeing Tails whenever I see him.

OmagnusPrime Sep 27, 2007 08:38 AM

Acer, did you join our Forge session last night? I know I got the friend request from you around that point but didn't know if you'd hopped into the game too as I didn't see you (too busy looking to betray Tails for lol).

FatsDomino Sep 27, 2007 08:45 AM

I was playing with Zeal, Tails, Devo, Blah, Iwata, Garr, Taco, and few others from like 11 pm to 2 am. I don't remember you being in that group but I did send a friend request to you. =)

So naw, I don't think I was in your Forge session. You guys do anything crazy with them tools? =D

Oh and hey guys how do I join the GF Leaderboards?

I think you were busy killing me between those times you were looking to betray Tails. :gonk:

I beat the game today. H3 Ending >>>>>>>>>>>X1000 Halo2 . Play it, beat it, wait for credits to end. Loved it.

I actually think it was Daravon we were having issues with. Just that both times we've met up, I've been partied with him, so I dunno.

See...now is when I wished I had XBOX Live

Zeal Sep 27, 2007 06:54 PM

The sheep mentality of this forum is hilarious. It's practically follow the fuckin' leader around here. I wonder what trend will be next? Oh well, I don't really mind all of GFF jumping on the Halowagon, just please don't jump into multiplayer first and then attempt to give your "impressions" on the game. Better yet, please don't beat campaign on normal or easy and give a "review" of your handicapped experience.

Online co-op on LEGENDARY, first. Then you're gonna go into multiplayer matchmaking.

Halo has ALWAYS been about the cooperative experience, playing with others and getting together. Halo is social.

No wonder so many nerds hate it...

Slayer X Sep 27, 2007 07:13 PM

I'm confused. You say, "The sheep mentality of this forum is hilarious. It's practically follow the fuckin' leader around here." So you don't like how people are enjoying the game that you obviously love? Odd, but ok.

And the reason why other gamers don't like the game is because of the senseless killing and the lack of character design in multiplayer, and the random physics. A guy in a 3-ton suit should not be fgloating. And it gets boring shooting the same looking guy 10million times. There's lots of hardcore gamers who like Warcraft, Unreal Tournament, Gears of War, etc that don't like Halo. So it's not the community aspect that non Halo fans don't like.

Also yes you can judge the game based on Normal difficulty. Because 99% of newcomers and 60% of previous players are going to play the game on Normal. And most of them will never play the game again. Therefore it's how the game was intended to be played. And if it's too easy or what have you then that's the developer's fault, not the gamer's.

I do agree that 4 player co-op is pretty sweet though.

Slash Sep 27, 2007 07:16 PM

The XBOX Live co-op was, hands down, smart. Just because you see the strategies people use in FFA/Team deathmatches but with Co-op its much more interesting.
