It's pretty much been that way with FF soundtracks since the beginning.

CuteChocobo May 6, 2006 10:51 AM

Seriously? Cool thank for clearing that up ^ ^

The Square Enix conference at E3 is about to begin but in the meantime it looks like we're going to be seeing an FFXII line of figures from Play Arts/Koto:

Related note but here's a look at their Weapon line on display at E3 too:

Square's conference is today? What time (EST)? Crap, I didn't know about this.

Anyway, one thing I'm really looking forward to is an english preview of FFXII. I hope we get a chance to hear the voice actors in action, especially considering the Vagrant Story-level dialogue.

I also hope for a release date earlier than November.

It's happening now. They just announced FFXII will be released in the US this October along with some Mobile games including a Dirge of Cerberus title.

Soldier May 8, 2006 03:13 PM

I'll be damned. Well, at least it's not the same month as the PS3. My wallet is in Square's debt.

Simo May 8, 2006 03:16 PM

Some other announcements from Square including FFV & VI for the GBA.

Double Post:
Hefty long trailer for Final Fantasy XII being shown, all in English.

"Sparing no expenses on the voice acting for this one--it's all appropriately haughty, in line with the tone of the story."

Perfect, exactly what I was hoping to see. Hopefully a direct feed trailer will surface soon.

Are those weapon replicas to scale? Has a price been mentioned?

No, they're basically minatures and aren't very expensive. They've also got a Vehicles and Monster line too for the FF titles.

Sweet, more Kotobukiya goodies. Man, I'm gonna go poor. Has there been an announcement as to which figures (obviously, there's only going to be 3-4 others, which appears to be the trend) they're going to be making from 13?

DarthSavior May 9, 2006 05:43 AM

So. Where's the Final Fantasy XII English trailer that they showed at e3.

Yeah not bad! I might start wanting to add, well more correctly, start my FF toy chest collection, probably with the FFVII AC guys and then VIII, X, and now finally XII. But I knew XII would come around sooner or later.

Seriously. After hearing Balflear and Fran run the show for 80 hours, I demand to know how they sound in English? As awesome, I hope.

Soldier May 12, 2006 02:24 AM

So....anyone still remember FFXII? Have there been any details at all about the english version? How long until the trailer is online?

Gamespot has a few impressions from the english build, which is pretty much all I could find at this point.

Overall, we were quite impressed with the quality of the localization, from the brief bit we got to absorb.

Soldier May 12, 2006 08:34 AM

That's twice I've heard the word "haughty" to describe the localization. What does that even mean (the placement, not the definition)?

Aside from that, hooray for multiple accents. LOTR ye old english like what.

Spatula May 12, 2006 08:42 AM

I've been seeing "October 2006" as the release date on gamespot, but seriously, if SE pushes it back any further, what gives man.

Saga May 13, 2006 05:04 PM

sorry if already posted

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAiKg...asy%20XII%20E3

its not a trailer but is the battle system in English with some random music in the background lol

Spatula May 13, 2006 05:49 PM

Holy cow that battle looks extremely fast paced, I don't know how to keep up! It's quite the contrast from seeing the Japanese playthrough where Vaan and his gang fight the fire bombs. That seemed to take its sweet time.

As well, this clip might have been posted, but it's a 3 minute in game Japanese play through. What seems interesting is that Penelo can be used to lead the party in this segment, with Vaan following behind.

You can select whichever character to act as the party leader in FFXII. Play through the whole game as Ashe? You can do so if you wish.

Spatula May 13, 2006 06:40 PM

Ah! This is what I've wanted. It's nice to be able to switch your "main" character, not in the story, but for the game play. Sometimes I get sick of looking at the same person whom I'm controlling over and over. Xenosaga allowed me to do that, since I didn't like Shion much. I'm glad it's taking a somewhat similar approach here, and getting all the other characters to follow suit.

NYRSkate May 13, 2006 07:04 PM

Well, you still see everyone in the active party. The game just allows you to control which of the three (or four) characters you get to move around.

You're always Vaan when you walk around town though, and the other characters aren't even visible. When you are in a battle area you can pick other people to control, and remaining teammates follow you around like in Kingdom Hearts.

I can live with that. But at least this might make the battles more interesting, plus it's a whole new battle system in my experience, as I've have not played FFIX yet to witness the "enemies-on-same-screen" type battles. It's sort of too bad the others don't follow you during the town sequences. It'd be nice from them to stare around and "act" with their environments rather than just "follow the Squall-leader" in FFVIII.

The only other RPGs I've played that has enemies on screen without switching to a battle screen are Vangrant Story, Zelda type games and Dark Cloud 1 and 2. Perhaps there's a few more I've played, but I can't recollect on to of my head. In short, after seeing those clips, I'm more than inclined to definately try out this "new" battle system.

I've been hearing from other GFF members who've played the Japanese version say that it's somewhat akin to FFT, which makes it even more interesting.
