Not to mention he would have a bitchin move set. More stars and beams than the eye could count.

Acro-nym May 23, 2006 09:26 PM

I feel that Nintendo should use this game to include characters from games that have weak representation. Super Mario Bros. has four characters, five if you count the doctor. The Legend of Zelda has four characters, five if you count Zelda twice. Pokémon has four characters. Where's the DK representation? What about Metroid? Kirby? Sure, they're adding Metaknight and a new Samus, but I want more. Dedede, Ridley, Diddy, etc. There's a plethora of characters for them to choose from. And they need to replace Pichu with a more interesting character, even if it is only another Pokémon.

Deguello May 23, 2006 09:41 PM

I doubt you can have many things from Metroid, dude. The only humanoid things in the entire series are Samus, Space Pirates, and Dark Samus. Ridley would be gigantic and either unfair or unwiedly.

Who says they have to be humanoid?

shadowlink56 May 23, 2006 11:41 PM

What about all of the new hunters that were introduced in MPH? At least one of those would work as a new character.

J-Man May 24, 2006 12:06 AM

I think it would be fun to extend the barriers beyond humanoid characters. Sure they had Pikachu in SSBM, but even that was pretty much standing on 2 legs, dancing and/or raping the superscope all the time. Playing as a purple dragon or a friggin' Sheegoth (OMG!) might be fun, provided it had an adequate moveset.

Kalas (Batten Kaitos)
Interesting, I hadn't thought of that before. And not a bad idea, but it begs the question, why have Kalas when you can have The Great Mizuti?

Princess Katia (Lost Kingdoms)
Hah, I was probably one of three people in North America who enjoyed that game, but apparently it was a bit more popular with the Japanese.

NaklsonofNakkl May 24, 2006 01:17 AM

Lets just hope that the game doesn't turn the wrong way...

lol, sorry, i just had to. But really...i hope he is not in it...
Speaking of which, on that list posted about the characters didn't include Solid Snake on it...or was it just a list of 'might be in the game' characters?

somedude2387 May 24, 2006 01:25 AM

LOL thats an awesome image. Yeh I'm wondering solid snake's going to fit into everything but it should be good. I agree with acro-nym, they should replace pichu. Theyd have like 500 (thats just an uneducated guess) pokemon by now to choose from so they should be able to pick one to replace pichu. Then again they do have a fair few pokemon already in the pokeballs.

FatsDomino May 24, 2006 05:45 AM

Oh give me a break. Pichu was the lowest tiered character in the game. If you could tear it up with Pichu it actually meant something. He was weak but he was fast. He was also a lot of fun. If you sucked with him then well... you sucked with him. I takes a certain level of skill and strategy to do some damage with the guy and every now and then I like mixing it up with him or Bowser, another low tier character, just to see what I can handle. I don't think any of the current roster is getting replaced. You may see a few changes to how characters play plus additional supers but nothing major I assume. I can't wait to see what humongous super Pichu has to compensate for being the weakest character. It's sure to be awesome and consequently destroy himself at the same time. ='D

They each have enough distinct ablilities to be indepentant. Also, the argument of "trademark characters" is moot. Characters aren't chosen by popularity, they are chosen by uniquenss. (I realize there were some clones in SSBM....)

That would be a great idea having a Zora, a Goron and a Deku Scrub and they should be their own characters.

Thats probably the only characters I want on the list appart from the characters allready announced. Otherwise their going to over do it.

Professor Kawashima (Brain Age)
Should replace or be featured with the master hands. Damn that'd be scary.

Lip (Panel de Pon)
Wouldnt mind seeing her in it >.> A little girl the size of Ness beating people with a flower(already in the game) would be pretty fun. Especially if she could make the blocks appear and crush people.

Klonoa May 24, 2006 03:43 PM

I'm not on that voting list ;__;

Anyway, being a total hermit and not having played games for like 2 years much due to having an idiot boyfriend who hates me having fun on games, I'm glad that theres a good title for me to look forward x.x

I was awesome at SSBM (as I am with all fighting games) so this looks like something welcome. I wonder how many more gameplay mechanics they'll cram into this one, since they're not working with the Cubes limitations anymore.

J-Man May 24, 2006 06:43 PM

Other than the upped graphics and disk size, they are still using the basic Cube layout and controller aren't they? So the gameplay mechanics can't be too different, at least I hope not.

Kaleb.G May 24, 2006 06:50 PM

I hope the physics are more like those in SSB than SSBM. SSB has a great feeling of free movement, which allows for a lot of aerial combat. SSBM seems to have more gravity, and the fighting takes place mostly on the ground, with characters grouped more closely together.

I don't know if this has been posted, but:

The director says that some SSBM characters will definitely be cut. I say, as long as he goes after the worthless clones, more power to him.

SuperSonic May 24, 2006 07:52 PM

As long as Sonic is in there, I don't care who's cut...except for Roy.

J-Man May 24, 2006 10:21 PM

I seriously hope Sonic is right where he damn well belongs: Far, far away from SSB:B. The addition of Sonic would not enrich, but rather deteriorate the game and screw it over for every one. Sonic can race, jump, ride, and adventure battle (seriously WTF?) all he wants, just keep him out of Smash.

Worst character idea ever.

HostileCreation May 24, 2006 10:33 PM

Anyone see the hot new pics of Zero Suit Samus?

Also, I'd like to say that clone characters are not useless. They may be similar to their counterparts, but there's an excellent subtlety to their differences. Some people are great with a clone character, much better than with the original one. Gives more options, adds another element to the game.
I like them, so long as they're not excessive. And I don't even use one, I'm just saying.

I hope Pichu stays. There's no one more fun to beat up on (when you have less than four people playing, Pichus fill the remaining slots) than Pichu.

Naturally, Zero Suit Samus loses power and stamina, so she should fight using the speed she gains instead.
Also, her gun transforms and can be used as a whip. Of the two, one might consider the whip to be her main weapon.

And don't worry—you'll still be able to play as standard Samus, too.

For those of you who haven't see it yet. Haven't fully developed opinions yet, this might be good news for some.

shadowlink56 May 24, 2006 10:57 PM

Hmm. That's an interesting take on Samus. I wonder what that could mean in relation to other characters. I like the idea of evolving during battle. Even Wario "builds gas" over time.
This could really break way to some interesting game mechanics! :P

How exactly would it deteriorate the game and screw it over for everyone?

Sonic Battle wasn't the best, but it's a good enough example that shows

Sonic can fight just as well as the people on Smash Bros.

shadowlink56 May 24, 2006 11:20 PM

They've adapted other characters to fit into the game. I mean, would Snake be your first pick? They'll have to do some heavy adapting for him, so why not Sonic?

His speedball could work like Yoshi's egg roll, he could punch and kick like everyone else, and maybe even change to hyper mode to do some more damage. It could work. At least I can imagine it more than Snake.

FatsDomino May 24, 2006 11:28 PM

I think Sonic's spin move would be more like Jigglypuff's than Yoshi's. You generally can't control Sonic other than jumping or stopping as soon as you possibly can.

SuperSonic May 24, 2006 11:28 PM

Homing attack, speed dash, spinball...those could work. :D

There's also the 3 shield attacks he had in Sonic 3.
