I really like Squeak Squad. It's on my to-buy list. I love games which use the top screen of the DS for gameplay, like it's meant to.

I'd go as far as saying it's the second best Kirby game, sitting of course under Superstar. Almost all Kirby games are shorter but I find them to be high quality, so I'm not fussy.

It's been a long time since I came here. I can't even remember if I mentioned getting Jump Ultimate Stars. Got it for Christmas, and as far as I can see, it has the best handheld multiplayer. Great stuff.

Fast forward to Feb 6th. I snagged FFVIa. I've heard too many stupid (and not worth complaining about) complaints about the game from fanboy purists, and not surprisingly, they're at GameFAQs. Luckily, the GFFers know a good game when they see one. It rocks.

Helloween Feb 13, 2007 06:37 PM

Picked up Age of Kings DS, and Phoenix Wright: Justice for All. A little disappointed as i couldn't find Phoenix Wright 1, or Hotel Dusk: Room 215, which were ultimatly the title i was out to get. Age of Kings was an impulse buy, and i played a bit today. It's pretty good, no where near as good as the original, but fun in it's own way.

So far i've been completley unable to find Hotel Dusk in any video game retailer in this city. I'm getting kind of scared/annoyed.

Amazon had this amazing crazy sale this week so I figured I'd buy 3 games. The cost of all this: 45$ CAN.

The games are: Lego Star Wars : Original Trilogy, Valkyrie Profile 2 and Dirge of Cerberus.

I'm supposed to receive them next week.

Happy Cow Feb 13, 2007 08:21 PM

I recently bought Soul Calibur 3 for $10 (new, too) at a nearby Fortinos. I don't know why they sell games in the first place, and for whatever reason they do, they're quite terrible (or rather, awesome) at pricing them. I wasn't planning on buying it at all, but couldn't resist with a price like that.

Good game, too.

Rockgamer Feb 14, 2007 08:27 PM

God of War II is already out? Damn, shows how much attention I've been paying to the non-DS gaming scene.

Anyway, I just got the first God of War today at Target, for $15. I've been wanting it for a while, but I knew I wouldn't be able to play it anytime soon, so I never got it even when it first dropped to $20. I just happened to see it at Target today for that price, so I figured I might as well get it now so I can at least have it.

Chaotic Feb 14, 2007 08:36 PM

You're not really missing anything yet, Rock. It doesn't come out until March 14th. And NBA Street Homecourt doesn't come out until next week.

He's lying, dammit. And apparently I just proved it.

Anyway, bought Mario Kart 64 from the VC. I still like it regardless of reviews. It was a classic in my book.

Oh shi- Double postage. :|

Infernal Monkey Feb 16, 2007 02:23 AM

Yeah, I grabbed the Virtual Console Marieo Cart 64 the other day too. It's a lot more brutal than I remember, the way the CPU can take hits right before the finish line yet still come up and beat you with magic Speed Racer power. :gonk: The cleaned up textures and smoothed out frame rate's nice!

Also I did the absolute unthinkable and got two Phoenix Games.. games. What horrors do

contain? Not even Xolten would know. I'm almost scared to put them in the PS2, the instruction manuals are warning enough with a single page showing the buttons and nothing else.

Hahaha holy crap look at how tiny that boulder is :tpg::tpg::tpg::tpg:

Infernal Monkey Feb 16, 2007 09:28 AM

Oh God it's worse than anyone could have ever thought. ;__; This is the absolute rock bottom of PS2 garbage. It's like those Crash Bandicoot levels where you had to run towards the screen (you know, the really annoying bits), but that's the whole game. Oh but by running, I mean a very slow walking speed as the giant rolling crushing thing makes its way towards you. It's just a wee bit bigger than the box art suggests! Throw in awesome clipping problems that let you jump through walls and porn music and I've had an excellent time so far. Fifteen minutes or so feels like three weeks.

Yay! Lunar Knights get! I've heard a couple of good things about this game. I only played it for a little while, so I haven't really gotten a good feel for it yet. I have high hopes though.

UltimaIchijouji Feb 17, 2007 04:04 PM

Finally got a new controller by means of Wii Play. Now my Wii is slightly less useless in party situations. PS3 is still a party pooper though.

How is it so far, now that you've had more time with the game? I've had my eye on Lunar Knights for quite awhile since Boktai was a really fun game when you could actually get some sun on the sensor.

Kaphwan 86 Feb 17, 2007 05:07 PM

Bought God Hand about a week ago. Very addicting and IGN earned their Eternal Bullshit award for giving it a 3/10. The game has frustrating moments because everyone gangs up on you and there are random demons popping up that make your life miserable, but having such a wide array of attacks that you can try out on hilarious bad guys make up for it.

It's pretty good. Battling is pretty basic, but it looks cool at least... The Space scenes are stupid as hell. Could've used more voice overs, but at least there are anime sequences...

So far, i'm liking it alot. It's probably one of those games i'm gonna be playing for a while.

As for games today:

Got Guitar Hero 2. Haven't tried it yet. :| Metroid Prime 2: Echoes... Haven't tried, and a friend gave me Need for Speed: Carbon.

Freelance Feb 18, 2007 06:54 AM

I don't think this counts since it's not actually for me, but I got Xenosaga III for my little sister's birthday.

As for myself, I haven't gotten anything since my last post, but my next purchase will be an expansion pack, Sims 2: Seasons.

Chaotic Feb 18, 2007 01:57 PM

Holy crap, more games. I'm going crazy. :|

After deciding that Need for Speed Carbon on the Wii was a piece of crap, decided to sell it at Gamestop and pick up some used GBA games. I got Boktai 1, for about $6 and Yggdra Union for an even steeper $22. I got $18 back for Carbon anyway, so I guess it compensated somewhere along the way. I wanted to use Boktai primarily with Lunar Knights. If it even does work for that matter, alot of features were taken out from the Japanese version. As for Yggdra, i've heard many things about it. Can't wait to try it.

And as for a crappy side note, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX - Spirit Caller for kicks.

Just won an auction for a copy of Rayman 2 for Dreamcast that is supposedly in good condition. (I will judge that when I see it.) But, if it is in good condition, then I will be a very, very happy camper. :D Platformers have been trying to catch up to Rayman 2's greatness for many years now... I tried Rayman 2: Revolution for the PS2 but it was utter garbage compared to the DC version. (It would probably be fine if you had never played the DC version, however.)

Anyhow, I had previously picked up a used copy of Rayman 2 DC but it turned out to be very used & abused. :eagletear: So, onward & upward!

Good on ya. It's an innovative take on the beat-em-up that completely focuses on the fighting, as any beat-em-up should. The game is very hard, but not frustratingly hard and if you die, it's almost always your own fault. That is some quality difficulty. It's the last really difficult game I stuck through to the end and it was a great reassurance to know I could still beat hard games (after Shinobi and Ninja Gaiden from a few years back).

I've been playing through Crackdown. If anyone is interested... I would advise a rent. What you've heard about not much to do is true. I started it up Saturday and will be done with it by tomorrow. That's with doing plenty of the side stuff. I suppose if you have a friend to play with on Live! it could be the blast everyone is blowing it for. And it IS fun. But like Gears of War for me, once I finish it, I'm done with it. I wish I hadn't payed full price. Guess I'll be turning it in on Wednesday for some solid credit towards something else.

Got a couple of new games . . . Dark Cloud 2 and Shadow of the Colossus! Only tried them out for an hour or so to make sure they were in good condition cuz I'm still in Xenosaga II and wanna get thru the Xenosaga series before starting any other RPG.

Not much to comment on Dark CLoud except that it's pretty but SotC is really amazing! Thou dost climb to reach its vitals! Ah, all this while I'm getting crushed by the first one's club!

I still need to buy this game... They have it for $20 at Best Buy, so why the hell not?

Welcome to the fold. What a gorgeous game. I would actually pay very well just for a port of this game to the PS3. It would be so beautiful in high-def with better textures and higher polygon count.

I mean seriously, any game that features a pekopon version of Sergeant Major Kururu MUST be awesome beyond the time space continuum, right? RIGHT? RIGHT?

nuttyturnip Feb 21, 2007 09:41 AM

Or you can just import the actual Keroro Gunso game, which was fun when I tried it at Otakon.
