ahhh, this could be an interesting item to watch out for. I wonder if they are gonna have the Power Flower from Mario 64 DS.

Mona's not obscure in the slightest concievable way, she's quite well-known, and especially popular among WarioWare fans for being Wario's main squeeze and a likely candidate for more WW representation. She's a Nintendo original, so she has a far greater chance of being in than truly obscure female characters from companies that you don't even know will be contributing to the game. Therefore, you are a nutcase.

Kanzaki Aug 27, 2007 09:25 AM

Chun-li would make more sense, she was the first girl to fight :P , but it would make as much sense as Snake, not fitting. Megaman would be a better choice (sorry Chunny).

Now I wonder if Ice Cream will give you "ice-attacks" ?

(yes Im also annoyed by the comments "Is... Is it safe to eat that?")

PsychoJosh Aug 27, 2007 11:06 AM

Think about it this way, if Capcom picked ANYONE to be in the game, who would be better suited for Smash Bros than Megaman? He lends himself so well to this game that it's completely ridiculous to even think of picking anyone else from Capcom.

Of course, I'm thinking of X, and not the original Megaman. X just has far more capabilities.

WolfDemon Aug 27, 2007 01:54 PM

X would be pretty cool. I could see his Final Smash being him equipping his Ultimate Armor and tearing ass with Nova Strike all over the screen. And he's got Zero's Saber for regular melee attacks. His Up-B move could be his boost from X3, I believe. His boots launch him up and I'm pretty sure he can damage enemies that way too. Normal B would be his buster, of course. Side-B could be a random selection of weapons he obtains throughout the series. Down-B I can't think of though.

Kanzaki Aug 27, 2007 02:14 PM

Well, Megaman Final smash could be Hyper Megaman (the one form MvsC), we still don't know the "full" powers of Megaman (nor X). And I think Megaman would be picked instead of X. I don't know but it;s just what I think.

I think it's because regular ole Megaman is less SERIOUS BUSINESS than X. The enemies and stages from those games also seem like a better match for Brawl.

PsychoJosh Aug 27, 2007 04:47 PM

Regular Megaman has way less abilities than X. I think X and Zero are the likelier candidates, as they've been representing the latest arcs in the main series to this day. And besides, X is Dr. Light's final masterwork, whereas Megaman was just designed as a house-cleaning robot.

For some reason, I don't think that'll matter much given how the SSB games have made other characters work. Not to mention that opens the doors to things like having folks like Beat or Rush to show up to help out.

I'd give the nod to the Megaman that's been around longer, but out of those two, we'd wind up with Zero since that's where the attention's been for some time now. Don't bitch or whine, lest we get some shit like the megaman from Battle Network or Axl. :tpg:

Zyzex Aug 27, 2007 05:14 PM

I think an even more likely candidate than even Megaman would possibly be Viewtiful Joe. He has a wide array of moves, styles, and he been on/started on a Nintendo Console. In my dream world X, Zero, and Joe would all be welcome additions to the Smash Line up. But a man can dream though...a man can dream.

What are you talking about, it DEFINITELY matters! Original Megaman couldn't upgrade his armor, climb walls, dash, air dash, charge his buster three times, charge his enemies' weapons, or even crouch. X could do all these things and more, so I think he's far more likely, as they don't have to contrive very many ideas for him to use that weren't in his games.

It's either one or the other. They want to do away with clone characters so I doubt they'll be putting regular Megaman in alongside X, unless they implement a grand "alternate costumes" idea in which every character has alternate versions of themselves with slightly altered movesets.

Metools are still around, though, so maybe one of those could be in as an assist trophy...

FatsDomino Aug 27, 2007 06:15 PM

Anyone here think that Rush would be a better candidate than either Megaman and X? He could use that spring on his back to spring stuff and jet on over to places or beammeupscotty all over the place and most importantly talk like Scooby Doo because that's how dogs and and especially robotic dogs talk. Maybe one of his special moves could be solving mysteries and his final smash would have to be revealing Gutsman's ass out of any player he attacks with it. O Rush you are such a card. =)

We'll just have to agree to disagree, then. I've always found that half the fun is seeing what they've come up with to make a character work in SSB. I'd definitely take a roster of characters like this than folks with little or no need for it.

It'd be... neither. Zero from the newer titles would pop in.

Personally, I think Roll will make it in, with her final smash being Dr. Light.

RacinReaver Aug 27, 2007 06:22 PM

I'd rather have Roll in it. <3

(Especially the one from Legends since she was an actual mechanic and not just a maid. <3 <3 <3)

Also, if Megaman is in the game they need to give him the horribly annoying jumping physics that are in all Megaman games.

Try Kirby's Dream Land.

It makes Kirby flash white and shoot fireballs that destroy enemies.

http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/9955/food3co6.jpg

It will also make characters shoot fireballs out of their mouths in Brawl, similar to what Kirby did after eating it in Kirby's Dream Land.

The fact that it's from Kirby's Dream Land is even supported by the Kirby game-icon in the corner of the update.

Yes, I really did go to the trouble of digging out Kirby's Dream Land, playing through it, capturing video from my Game Boy Player, taking screenshots of the captured video and uploading them to ImageShack just to point that out.

As you were.

I agree that it's interesting, but I don't them want to sacrifice functionality and common sense for that. X just has more abilities and potential. And besides, even then I still think they'd have to come up with new stuff for him (Up+B = Shoryuken?!).

Roll! Kawaii~! Maybe they'll put Lip, Kat/Ana and Midna in too... and then... LOLI TAG TEAM BATTLE?! :o

FatsDomino Aug 27, 2007 06:41 PM

Josh, stop trying so hard to be funny all the time. =D

The_Griffin Aug 27, 2007 06:47 PM

Joe: I think, after seeing that Shoryuken movie, it's highly appropriate to say this...

Wow! You're so cool! I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy!!!

PsychoJosh Aug 27, 2007 07:44 PM

The Hadouken is a secret move in MMX1 as well...

chaofan Aug 27, 2007 09:46 PM

*Attempts to steer Megaman/Street Fighter thang going on*

Seeing how long America's got until Smash comes out (December), I wonder how much more stuff they can pull out of their asses and not spoil the fun for everyone. Unless they keep revealing items every weekday -_-'...

What ever happened to the profiles of Snake and Meta Knight? Why? WHHHY???

I don't think they'll reveal EVERY character (keep us in the dark like they did with Melee), but I bet there'll still be plenty of nice surprises on the way.

I'm personally waiting for them to reveal Mona, Lip, Dedede and Little Mac. *taps foot*

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Aug 28, 2007 03:14 AM

Holy shit, an update of awesome.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/items..._070828d-l.jpg

Also some stuff about the direction you press when performing special moves.

Dopefish Aug 28, 2007 11:25 AM

I guess that means no Lugia in the Pokeballs, because that looks exactly like Lugia's attack, probably just slowed down.

PsychoJosh Aug 28, 2007 11:45 AM

No, he's spitting polygons all over the place, that everybody may be hit by. Lugia just fired a beam straight forward. Their attacks don't even look anything alike, how does one make this assumption? :eye:

FatsDomino Aug 28, 2007 12:01 PM

By being Dopefish and making assumptions like he naturally and lovingly does. =)
