Oh and looks like GFF is against most analysts opinions, but whatever too many non-objective nerds here. Also Den, wtf, I already explained the situation to you in gfchat, why are you rambling again in here.

Please do.

I agree with you, BZ. It was a dirty hit from Neil. Even though it was only .49 seconds after Drury, Neil is able to clearly see that Drury does not have the puck anymore. The common law only applies in cases where you cannot avoid the man once the puck has left him.

It is acceptable to hit a man without the puck if it is too late to avoid him, it is NOT "Oohhh its still okay to hit him, as long as I do it quickly".

Chris Neil needs a harsh reminder of this.

To clarify, there is not a 1 or 2 second window after players get rid of the puck that they are still allowed to be hit in. It doesn't work like that. The player without the puck cannot get hit period, but leniency is given if the player is unavoidable.

On another note, how did Brian Burke get a first round pick for Shane O'Brien? Surely Tampa could have made more out of a first round pick than a guy who is 5th or 6th on the depth chart.

Let's not stray from this Ottawa/Buffalo argument, though. Thoughts?

Bottom line, Drury was avoidable.

HURR NO GOAL

That statement made just about as much sense as you fucking Sass. It doesn't.

HURR LOW BLOW

Actually it makes perfect sense. The Sabres like to dive, and the Sabres like to whine. They do it all the time. Using the mantra "no goal" in regards to the 1999 Stanley Cup where Brett Hull's skate was in the crease and should've been disallowed is a classic example of such.

What does everyone think top 4 per conference is?

EAST:
1. Buffalo
2. New Jersey
3. Tampa Bay
4. Atlanta

WEST:
1. Nashville
2. Detroit
3. Anaheim
4. Dallas or San Jose

Mr.Ramen Feb 26, 2007 08:45 PM

You better watch.

http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/2...gowholefc2.png

Have you been watching the Ducks-Sharks games this season? I know I haven't. But tonight is different. Tonight they play live all across the 500 households that carry Versus, formerly The Outdoor Life Network. Tonight, the only two California hockey teams will show everyone how we do things downtown. On the westside. The west coast. West.

You will get to see two teams, tired from playing recent back-to-back games, exhausted from a season that never seems to end, spent from building losing records so far in this month, and I don't want to get a thesaurus, but I'm sure there are more synonyms for "tired" I could use. Oh, fatigued. They're fatigued, too. The Ducks have tended to score a lot of goals in the games they've defeated the Sharks. San Jose only outscored by a total of two in their two victories. I don't know if that's significant, but it's a stat, and stats are always very impressive.

This game starts at ten if you live on the east coast. Pull a Kornheiser and put this game on, even if you're too tired to watch it. What better lullaby to put you to sleep than a game like this? I mean, it won't be boring, that's not what will put you to sleep. I just mean you'll probably be tired, that's all. So you'll naturally fall asleep, not because of the game. The game will be good. Sleep is also good. Someone asked me today how much sleep I get each night. I said about 8 hours, which is really the minimum amount that you should get. I'm a growing boy, and I need my rest. But I also need this California hockey.

Enjoy, and sleep well.

What the fuck is this, an advertisement?

Anyway is Gary Roberts coming to Pittsburgh or not? I know they asked him about waiving his trade clause, but he probably forgot they even asked him that due to Alzheimers.

Little Brenty Brent Brent Feb 26, 2007 10:46 PM

So I heard BZ is the most objective, impartial hockey fan there is. That's pretty cool.

It's taken long enough for me to say no. See also Georges Laraque. Bill Guerin is another one rumored to be headed to the Penguins for rent.

Rumor has it the Pens offer for Roberts is Welch. Sounds good to me.

So, if it is for Welch, good going for the Pens. They just dumped a struggling 24-year-old minor league defender for a playoff-proven veteran with enforcing and scoring ability.

Mr.Ramen Feb 27, 2007 12:37 AM

Yeah, I work for Versus. It's an advertisement.

It's called a preview. What's wrong with you guys? It was a great, close game. Bryzgalov really got it done.

No. Hard Pass. Feb 27, 2007 01:47 AM

I'm so glad I live in Canada and have Center Ice and never have to deal with shitty American channels for my hockey fix. It's honestly part of why I stay here for University instead of going to Europe. You try getting hockey in fucking Europe.

All right, I'll be the first to chime in on trade day:

I don't know is more painful/embarassing, getting your shit handed to you by Ray Emery, and getting packed up and sent to the worst team in hockey, the philly low-flyers. Bon Voyage, Marty Biron, you're a sub-par goalie and no one will miss you in Buffalo.

Secondly, with my team more or less out of the running, I have to pick a team to back for the playoffs. I was up in the air until today. With the addition of my boy, Georges LaRaque, as well as some hardnosed, playoff tested leadership in Gary Roberts (whom I'm betting will get the same sort of revitalization we've seen in Recchi) I'm all about Pittsburgh these days. You hear me, Wojo? You and I are of one blood now.

Florida sends Bertuzzi to Detroit. Getting traded for one of the top goalies the year before, only to be shipped off for a draft pick and a prospect a year later? Priceless. I love(d) Berts through all his whiny bullshit post neck-breaking incident, but until he can prove to me that he still has that psychopathic edge I loved him for, he's dead to me.

Obviously there were a lot of other moves, Perrault going to Toronto is a good move for T.O. in my books, as they're fucking awful on the draw, for instance, but I think I covered the big ones I care about. If Marc-Andre can step up his play (and he has the talent to do so), I think Pittsburgh looks damned good this year. And even if they don't win, I guarantee they'll be one of the most fun to watch.

Guerin going to San Jose looks great for SJ, and Guerin is a great warrior. He makes the Sharks even more scary.

And Ryan Smyth, the face of the Oilers, the man who took a paycut just to make the team better, gets traded to the Isles for a 1st round pick, O'Mara, and a bag of pucks. Unfuckingcool, Edmonton. Not impressive at all.

Dopefish Feb 27, 2007 04:07 PM

My input on trade day:

RYAN SMYTH TO THE ISLANDERS?!? He's the Oilers' fucking golden boy and they ship him off? Sad day for Oilers fans. I think I see Edmonton burning from here.

Buffalo has made a big mistake getting Ty Conklin (or, as I like to call him, Ty :gonk:lin), even if he was practically for free. I can't bash UNH alumni too much, but, seriously...he and Jason Krog should stay in the AHL.

I don't understand this: St. Louis ships Guerin off to San Jose then picks up Boyes from Boston (:argh:). At least Boston got Aaron Ward in the process.

The Kings traded away Matias Nortstrom?! What is this, Backwards Day on planet Stupid?

I hope Todd Bertuzzi finds a home and a happy one in Detroit.

I am happy about what the Penguins did. They didn't give up much for either Laraque or Roberts. I just wish they got a proven D-man out of everything.

(Update: Pens get D Kwiatkowski for an 07 R4 pick.)

Hahaha. It's good we are seeing eye to eye now.

Anyway I do like what the pens did at the deadline. Even though Roberts is old, hes still a damn good player. And I'm kind of suprised we got LaRaque, but now anyone who messes with Crosby is going to get their asses handed to them by Georgy boy. I am kind of sad to see Dominic Moore go, but it was necessary we get a 3rd round pick since we gave that up for LaRaque.

Also I dont feel that Welch is going to reach his potential, so I am fine with him leaving. I wish we could have made one more trade for a stay at home d-man, but you cant always get what you want.

TSN just announced Kwiatkowski from FLA to PIT for 07 R4 pick. You get what you ask for...?

It's a sad, sad day in the city.

He was the heart and soul of the team. He gave everything he had to this city and the fans. He wasn't the one on the Whitemud doing 140 in an 80. He wasn't the one picking up the bar stars at the clubs. He wasn't the one banging the weather chick from CityTV.

He was the guy at the children's hospital signing jersey's for kids with cancer. He was donating to the charities. He was the guy who still went to the mall with his wife despite making 2 mil a season and didn't bitch when people wanted to thank him. He took a puck to the face, lost two teeth, left the ice to get it stiched back up, and came back to win the fucking game.

Lowe is most likely the least popular man in the city right now. Not since the Pocklington days and the Gretz trade has someone in the organization been so hated. I gaurantee the fans are going to let him have it on this one.

And I really really hope he gets hit by a bus.

No. Hard Pass. Feb 27, 2007 08:09 PM

I'm not even an Edmonton fan, and I was wicked choked about it, acid. And NYI is just so malicious a place to send that guy. Name me one city he'd fit less well into. Fuck.

Dopefish Feb 27, 2007 08:17 PM

Edmonton fans really don't deserve the bullshit they've been through since the downfall of the Cup team.

FreeHooker Feb 28, 2007 12:05 AM

I feel for you acid, I feel for you. I hate the Oilers (Sorry), but I still loved Ryan Smyth. I think every team in the NHL would love to have him on their team, he is one of those guys that nearly every Stanley Cup team needs. Not to mention he is the second best shot-tipper in the game (Holmstrom).

Here's hoping Edmonton, err, Lowe, can redeem himself in the offseason and re-sign him.

And Denicalis, I'm sure Edmonton fans around the world appreciate your concern, but I'm pretty sure you are a Boston fan, meaning you have your own GM to yell at. Brad Boyes for Dennis Wideman? Sorry, but you just got robbed.

What is it with Boston management?

Hey acid, is Lowe possibly as hated right now as Jan Bulis is in Vancouver? :twitch:

I'm really starting to feel sorry for you guys. Here, take Jan Bulis as a gift.

:)
