OE-A and OE-B come with an integrated ISO loader. It's like DevHook, but better. You still place your games in the \ISO\ folder, but they show up in the Memory Stick menu. Much more convenient than selecting UMDs/ISOs with an ugly overlay menu.
Also, Front Mission 3 and Vagrant Story confirmed working! @BlueBomber: 3.02 Firmware EBOOT. Don't forget to rename this to 302.PBP before using the custom firmware creator. |
Are you guys just using the 3.02 JP firmware for the installer?
http://dl.qj.net/PSP-Firmware-3.02-J...1627/catid/163 Is this essentially the same thing as the US firmware (if it even exists, I mean)? |
I used the Japanese version just fine.
Anybody have keys.bin or Base.pbp which you require to convert your iso's? I can't find it. |
You have to download a copy of Hot Shots Golf 2 for these files.
|
I just played Final Fantasy VII and it ran to near perfection, I truly am amazed.
To note there are no sound glitches as the youtube video posted earlier portrayed, the only glitch is sometimes the pixels from a target overun a smidgen onto the battle menu when you hit attack, but hardly noticible at all and it may be because I'm running the PAL Version. |
Awesome. Got it working. Can I delete these folders in my PSP/GAME directory now? Or are they required for this stuff to work?
EDIT: In case anyone is wondering or skeptical about doing this, I just followed this very detailed guide - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/407535 Just remember to use 3.02 firmware eboot file instead of the 2.71 eboot file provided. Do that, and it will work perfectly fine. EDIT 2: Sorry guys - I am just full of questions today. I think I read somewhere earlier that DevHook is no longer required once you have this firmware installed? Can I play PSP iso's without the installation of devhook by placing them somewhere? Thanks a bunch. |
The 3.02 eboot - I can only find the japanese version. Is there an american/can someone link me?
edit: Nevermind, read the previous post. Thanks =) edit2: And I believe you don't need the files anymore, since it's already flashed into the PSP. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/438587 This guide says so, apparently. edit3: xD Sorry, Lol. How do I upgrade from A to B? Do I just put the Ebooot into the UPDATE folder? |
Wow, this is extremely interesting. I do have a decent amount of PS1 games and am now seriously looking at the PSP.
PS1 games > Nintendo DS games |
I got the ps1 .ISO... what do I do with it? xD
Double Post: Can someone upload the files needed (Hot Shot Golf 2). edit: Got it all... Fuck, I love Dark_Alex. |
Jesus. This just breathed all of the life back into my PSP.
I was pretty hooked on DevHook when I first got it, but damn that was annoying switching back and forth between the firmwares. But with this? Wow. This guy knows his shit. I suppose the 4gb stick I got for x-mas is helping the experience as well... |
has sony announced though the first game that will have the 3.0 upgrade?
|
Unfortunately, the converted games for PopStation seem to share a single save file and each time you save a game, the saves from previously played games are overwritten.
Inserting custom icons and backgrounds for PS1 games is still pretty complicated. I'd like to see a database for these and a converter that automatically applies the ICON0.PNG, PIC0.PNG and PIC1.PNG files to the EBOOT. For those of you toying around with the emulator, I have made some of these for Symphony of the Night and Final Fantasy VII: Generic PIC0.PNG: http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/9650/pic0hi0.png ICON0.PNG: http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/3213/icon0fe6.png http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/1652/icon0rq5.png http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/8207/icon0tn4.png http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/3892/icon0jt5.png PIC1.PNG: http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/4882/pic1da5.png http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/2199/pic1mt6.png http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/2531/pic1ns0.png http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/849/pic1sv0.png |

This is great news. Portable Adventures of Lomax? I never thought I'd see the day of something like this ever happening.
Although.. having FF7 as a "portable" title doesn't ring right. Nor does any lengthy game that will have to face up against the PSP's battery life and the fact that they aren't really portable games which you can play outside. Then again, more and more people are playing their handhelds in doors. |
Regarding multiple saves from different games:

How do you put custom images, over-writing the Hot Shot Golf 2 image? |

Maybe I need one of those folders I deleted to operate them properly. Why didn't I make a backup :(... EDIT: Dammit I'm dumb. You need a UMD inserted for any .iso to work! AT LEAST I'M LEARNING! |

Every single game I've thrown at the emulator so far worked flawlessly at 100% accurate speed. People should rather make a list of games that are not working properly (although I have yet to hear of any).

I wonder if anyone tried converting ripped ISOs. The game code of Vagrant Story is like ~90 MB, but the ISO is blown up to a whopping 700+ MB file. |
Is there a catch with using this new custom firmware? I haven't dared to try any homebrewing stuff on my PSP since all I ever see is something about the dreaded TA-82 mainboard and must use 1.50 or happy bricking. Since mine is only a few months old I am assuming it has the TA-82 and I'm also running 3.02 firmware. Is there a readme file for dummies on how to use this new firmware? My English-English translator can't seem to decrypt the articles and "instructions" from pspupdates. Every time I visit that site it talks about dumpers and decrypters and downgraders and I don't know what the fuck.
It would be something sweet to be able to have SOTN and Parasite Eve portable. I'm not in the mood to throw a $1,000 on a PS3 and purchase Playstation games I already bought. |
Here is how you identify a TA-082 mainboard PSP:
http://xs110.xs.to/xs110/06501/TA-08...boradxs.to.JPG If you see this (IC1003) or any other numbers in that corner, you have a non-downgradable TA-082 mainboard revision. But if you're running 3.02 firmware, you can't run homebrew or downgrade either way. |

edit: Heh, my very first crash. FF8 <3 in the towers... Going to try again later. |
I hope they release a Windows version of the visualizers they have for the PSP now. Some of those are pretty nice.

ALSO. Has anybody had any luck or made an attempt on downgrading a 2.6 to a 1.5 firmware? My little brother saw me playing Gitaroo Man Lives!, and is now desperate for me to basically turn his PSP into the same as mine. |
