New Famitsu Scan shows Peach wielding Toad as her shield again... This might indirectly imply that Toad won't be a playable character.

Apparently there is a little leak of the Roster picture! Of course it's only a lot of question marks, but apparently, it seems that Luigi, Captain Falcon, and (what looks like him, I don't know) Gannondorf are all in the game. However, when I counted the number of space (50 in all) and compared them to the list provided by Wiki, it seems that every single character from the previous game can be included (Around 25 on their list right now). I hope that this is truly Authentic.

That looks like a shopped version of Melee's character selection screen, so I'm calling fake on this one.

Identity Crisis Aug 23, 2007 10:18 AM

Dekoa, that doesn't look authentic to me. In the previous Smash games, all of the starter characters were initially bunched together without any hidden character spaces between them. This "screenshot" has them randomly strewn about on the character select screen.

That's so obviously fake. That selection screen is black, and from what I've seen on the SSBB website, the character select screen will be white. Behold:

In addition, all the colors of the screen seem to stick out of the picture, and where would this image have been taken in the first place? It just looks like some jerkoff's living room.

Also, yes, Diddy Kong. Awesome, isn't it? I called it in the last SSBB thread. He even has his pistols and jetpack, like I said he would :)

Heheh looks like a merger of blue shell and red shell powers :)

SMW reference.

PsychoJosh Aug 23, 2007 02:23 PM

I wish they made those wings look more like dragon wings instead of angelic ones. It's kinda... homosexual this way.

Kanzaki Aug 23, 2007 09:09 PM

Hehehe, at least the wings are big, unlike SMW where they were too small

I... what?

I think that update was a reference to Kamen Rider. Everybody loves a masked hero.

Lukage Aug 24, 2007 11:32 AM

Anyone who doesn't rescue Peach is a huge faggot.

As far as the roster screen and leaks and stuff go, just let it slide. They'll show it soon enough. TGS isn't that far away and they're doing official announcements here daily. Lets just let the content out and not speculate and argue to turn this thread into the last one.

Joe Wiewel Aug 24, 2007 02:41 PM

What I'm wondering is, if you play as Zelda or Peach in the Subspace Emissary, will Mario and Link be locked up, and then you'll have to save one? =O

After all, I believe that Peach had to save Mario in Super Princess Peach (never played it though), so I don't see why it couldn't work.

What about playing as Samus? Saving Zelda or Peach would still work, but it would be kind of...fucked up, a heroine saving a chic, that is. But maybe I'm just sexist or something. :(

Kanzaki Aug 24, 2007 03:51 PM

I would save Peach, since if Zelda can transform into Sheik, well she can take care of her self better than Peach, and if Zelda is the "real" Twilight version, she knows how to fight.

I think that, since this is Nintendo's universe, and you play as Samus and have to save either princess, then well they are all friends :P

Besides, the cages are to big, both princesses can slip out of them.

PsychoJosh Aug 26, 2007 02:01 AM

Amazing how Nintendo claims to be an all-ages developer, but they have Peach and Zelda locked up and banging each other in cages. :naughty:

I don't really think they'll let you select your character at the start; think of it like the challenge mode in Melee. Preset battles, mostly. Hot Samus/Zelda 'thank-you-for-saving-me' action would be nice, but I don't think that's gonna happen... (yet)

On that note, SSBB needs more girls. MONA FOR BRAWL!!!&!!%$#!!

Congle line of abuse. Or is that conga-line. Or congaline. Aug 26, 2007 02:42 AM

What, girls can't be good friends enough to save them from giant plants?

This will definitely be an interesting part of the game, definitely a slight tangent from a fighting game, what with preset charators (if that is the case). Either way I don't want this game, I need it.

Nautilus Aug 26, 2007 03:34 AM

I'm pretty sure it's preset characters with some semblence of a storyline between them. Like remember in one of the preview videos they had of Brawl you saw Mario and Kirby going crazy over some stew they were making?

Just in case you're not joking, Kirby was boiling Mario himself in the pot. They weren't making stew together, that's just Kirby's final smash.

Sword Familiar Aug 26, 2007 12:15 PM

The previous Smash Bros. games have been enjoyable both in single and multi-player because of all the extras, and this game seems to be shaping up to more of that goodness and then some. One of few games I'm actually looking forward to playing this year.

Really? Hmm... I think I might need some new glasses then.

:twitch:

K_ Takahashi Aug 26, 2007 05:32 PM

I hope it has a somewhat decent storyline(s) that wont have me pressing the skip forward button (voice? yay/nay?)

I really don't think they'll put that much effort into the storylines. If you want story, go buy an RPG.

RacinReaver Aug 26, 2007 08:19 PM

I imagine it'll be little jokes or whatnot that'll just make you chuckle at every cutscene.

If you really want more than that then you seriously need to reevaluate why you're playing games instead of reading books.

And yet, Square-Enix is a popular developer...

(People even want Sora in the game. FUCKING SORA. I hate these idiots...)

Yet you want an obscure Wario Ware "character" to be included in the game rather than say, Sonia Belmont, Chun-Li, omr some actually noticeable female. There simply aren't that many out there. You'll find one of the Advance Wars girls in there before some Wario Ware character.

Am I the only one who's starting to get annoyed by the stuttering in the descriptions of these updates?

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/items...09_070827b.jpg
Is... Is it safe to eat that?

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem...04_070824b.jpg
He... He’s huge!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/chara..._070823b-l.jpg
W-wings!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/items..._070524c-l.jpg
It sticks to them! Get... GET IT OFF!

Does he think people actually talk this way?

Anyway, today's update seems kinda blah. Could be a nifty item, but nothing too exciting.

This is extremely spicy curry that seems to crackle with flames.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/items...09_070827b.jpg
Is... Is it safe to eat that? (Ugh....)

Of course, this is no ordinary food, because when you eat it...
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/items...09_070827c.jpg
It’s so spicy, flames shoot out of your mouth!

Is this funny? Is it a joke? You just keep spitting out flames.

This is different from the flames of a Fire Flower, because you continue spewing these flames as you perform attacks.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/items...09_070827d.jpg
You can even do this!

You can do combos one would normally never think of. I’m not sure if it’s painful or fun.

Amayirot Akago Aug 27, 2007 03:07 AM

ZOMG, Naruto filler flashbacks...

Looks hella funny tho. And useful.

The_Griffin Aug 27, 2007 06:48 AM

Hell no this ain't Naruto.

This is old-school mother-fuckin' Street Fighter 2. To be more specific, Dhalsim originally got his ability to breathe fire by eating... super-spicy Indian curry.
