What's the Wi-Fi symbol on Tony Hawk? I thought there would be no online gaming 'til next year?

Also, Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam looks alot like Top Skater and Ollie King by Smilebit, except not as cool.

What the Fuck!? Why is Activision wasting their time on this Ultimate Alliance crap? Where's my new Vigilante 8?!?!

Anyways, yeah, that box are all looks pretty unexciting, with the exception of Red Steel.

As for the gaming log, i'm gonna appreciate it, you know, to see just how much i play. My mom on the other hand is gonna love it so she can use it against me. She'll finally be able to show me how much time i "waste" on these things. I'll view it as an accomplishment, while she'll use it as an attack. Gotta love parents :).

Slayer X Sep 27, 2006 01:20 PM

Just make sure to not show her how to get to that feature. Or even better, don't even tell her that it's there... that's what I'm gonna do.

Technophile Sep 27, 2006 05:30 PM

I can't recall if this has already been mentioned, but if you go here, you'll find high-res pics of most of the confirmed, launch titles. Just put "guest" for log-in and "nintendo" for password.

There are lots of great, great pics. The cake however, goes to the following high-res entry:

Not sure if this was announced here yet, but whatever.

I've never played with the Commodore 64 myself, but I've met a few people who are pretty nostalgic for it.

Infernal Monkey Sep 28, 2006 11:48 PM

That is so awesome. I still have some of my C64 tapes about, but the system itself died yeeears ago. Summer Games + Winter Games + Impossible Mission + Defender of the Crown = smiley (possibly the happy looking one!)

I wonder how much they'll charge for the C64 games, though. I already think US$5 (I don't know how much Nintendo's charging in Australia) is too much for an NES game, but I see that being the lowest price for a virtual console game.

FatsDomino Sep 29, 2006 03:19 AM

They better charge no more than a dollar b/c those games are ridiculously small and short.

New Red Steel screens:

Origin of indulgence.

Seriously, I'm going to put a wiimote through the clerks throat if the component cable isn't available at EU launch.

Jesus christ it's $5US for a fucking NES game? That's absurd. I mean sure, it might be worth it for something like, Snake Rattle N Roll, Toki and Super Mario Brothers but come on. Five dollars? NES games over there aren't rare.

Then again, there's some games out there like Mechwarrior 2, Earthbound and Chrono Trigger which will be worth everything you're paying. But then there's going to be SNES and N64 titles like Wayne's World and Yoshi's Story that won't be worth half a cent.

Prime Blue Sep 29, 2006 07:19 AM

Whoa!! What happened to 'Red Steel'? It looks fantastic all of a sudden. Just look at the high-res entries here. I'm more than confident with these graphics.

TheReverend Sep 29, 2006 08:33 AM

Those aren't *true* screens. There is absolutely no aliasing on anything in those pictures, so unless they were able to run a 4xAA on Wii, the pictures can't look like that. However, the lighting, reflections, and texture quality should be the same as those.

What's kind of funny is that people seem to be thinking that Wii games will look horrible, when in fact, they will probably look almost as good as most X360 games, but with a lower resolution and lower overall texture quality. That lower resolution also will show more aliasing problems than X360 games. I would bet that everyone will be pleased with Wii games graphically. They aren't going to be a slouch, but obviously not the best in town either.

HostileCreation Sep 29, 2006 12:50 PM

I heard the article about the Commodore 64 games was misread, and that they're making remakes and not providing them for the Virtual Console.
Not 100% sure on this, but someone who cares more than me might want to check up on it.

garthvadr3 Sep 29, 2006 11:28 PM

Actually I thought that I read that with most Wii games the goal was to run them at 4x AA

Infernal Monkey Sep 30, 2006 07:29 AM

Oh God I love Activision. :tpg: From the goons that released ports of Gun and Tony Hawk American Wasteland at the 360's launch with no graphical updates at all comes CALL OF DUTY 3 FOR WII. LOOKS SOOOOO GOOOOOD. Obviously Activision have done their very best with the N64 Expansion Pak here!

The final build won't ever look this ugly, well I sure hope so (was this going to be at launch?) :P When they showed the first screens for Tony Hawk Wii it looked equal in uglyness as CoD now.

garthvadr3 Sep 30, 2006 08:18 AM

God the textures are all so blurry, GC could do better. not to mention the poly count isn't that great either. Oh wait and it looks like we are back to the days of no lighting what-so-ever. What is the problem with these companies?

"Oh boy Nintendo doesn't care about graphics anymore! Lets fire all our talented artists!"

Infernal Monkey Sep 30, 2006 08:24 AM

Well these screens were just released today, so the development team's got just over a month to return that guys ham and hopefully commit mass suicide!

garthvadr3 Sep 30, 2006 09:48 AM

lol, they really should be ashamed of the quality of the graphics when compared side by side with Red Steel or Metroid. And I doubt those two games are effectivly taking advantage of all the systems power, considering the CPU and GPU weren't final during the whole development.

Omnislash124 Sep 30, 2006 09:52 AM

There is no way in hell that that is going to be final. I looks like shit compared to first generation GC, hell almost as bad as First Few Gens of PS2.

It damn well better, that would somewhat compensate for the 480 resolution. Normally, I wouldn't give a shit for the graphics, but that was just ugly.

garthvadr3 Sep 30, 2006 11:04 AM

A lot of the screen shots from some of the upcomming games have been just plain ugly, and there is really no excuse for their crappiness. Especially COD3 and Farcry. Farcry doesn't just look similar to N64, it IS N64. It easily could be done on that old system in the state it is in the screens. It induces vomitting.

BlueMikey Sep 30, 2006 11:13 AM

Well, the excuse is that the Wii is the 3rd or 4th system these games are being developed for, so why bother? They're gonna make their money from 360 and PS3 versions, so who cares about the Wii (see: all EA Sports titles for the Gamecube).

The fact Nintendo has chosen this style of online networking has us all very happy indeed. As ever, voice your opinions on the forums by the link below!

This is excellent news if true; while I never had a problem with friend codes for different games, there should be much less complaining now, and that's all that really matters :(

hey is the wii really gonna be 150$ because thats what ive herd
