Why go thought the hassle? If it's under warranty just called up M$ and tell them about the problem and they'll ship you a coffin to put your 360 in and ship it back.
They have SO many refurbish 360 queue up that it usually takes 2 weeks overall to get your 360 back. 3 days (UPS 3 Day Select) for them to ship the box to you, 5 days (UPS Ground) when you ship it back to them, 2 days for them to check your 360, then 3 days again (UPS OR FedEX 3 Days Select) to ship back a refurbish 360. |

If anything a female isn't going to buy that bullshit. They're likely to check serials and seriously doubt your brother "packed the wrong Xbox". And since it's WalMart you can't really tell if they know anything about gaming. It really depends if they're doing their job or not. Just send it into Microsoft and be patient, I mean it's not like your games are going anywhere. And a good 360 game might be released while you wait. |
I didn't mean it as an insult to women. It is just that 85% of gamers or more are male. A female employee probably isn't a gamer, and thus might not be aware to match serials with the Xbox.
I'm going to give it a shot. Either way I'm going to get a full refund. If I bring back my broken Xbox and catch me, they can't ban me from returning the other one. The customer is always right, and I'd tell them that I'd write to corporate and speak of their name. Then they'd most likely back down. If not, then I'll return it to a different Walmart location all together. Plus I am an OCD freak. I don't want someone else's refurbished console. I want a brand new one. |
Hahaha.
What does being a gamer have to do with following return policy procedure. Do you know how this stuff works or not? You make it sound like you must be a gamer in order to follow a written rule set and check what you're TOLD TO CHECK when handling returns. And threatening an employee by saying you'll report them when you're trying to scam the shit out of the store they work for is just bad fucking form. It takes a special brand of asshole to yell at someone when they call you on your bullshit. And I laugh at "the customer is always right", even when you're trying to steal. A fucking plus. I ain't gonna condemn you for wanting to try, but the attitude you're showing while being fraudulent is pretty much the shining example of why people hate dealing with customers. Jesus H. Christ on a pogostick. |

I agree with your last point, though. I really hate the idea of getting a refurbished console. So much that depending on the price when mine inevitably breaks I might consider just buying a new one if it weren't for the few people I've heard from who got new ones back from Microsoft. |
Whether the etiquette is right or not doesn't matter. They can't prove I was trying to rip them off. Mistakes happen all the time, and they pretty much have to take my word for it that returning the wrong console was a mere mistake. Of course it wasn't a mistake, but mistakes do happen. It isn't that inconceivable. Do you really think some employee that makes a little more than minimum wage is really going to flip his lid if you are stealing money from Walmart? All they care about is their paycheck. Nothing more.
I'm sure if I explained it in a kindly tone, then they'd understand and I'd just bring the original back and return that. Going off at a customer for something that can be an innocent mistake(even though it isn't) is not the way a big corporation would want to go about their reputation. |
Since you're clearly daft, I'll fill you in on a tip. A place like Wal-Mart pushes shrinkbusting like you wouldn't believe. Most employees will try to stop it, since it's company policy to give away bonus cheques at the start of Q2 every year, and those cheques are directly affected by shrinkage (among other factors). There are also other company related rewards for stopping such things. Tritoch is correct, they will tell you to leave if it's obvious that you're ripping them off. Wether or not you get away with it depends on the apathy and knowledge of the clerk in question. That's all there is to it. I laugh at the etiquette statement though, and this inflated sense of importance. They very easily could tell you to fuck off, it's not like they have any shortage of customers otherwise. Especially if you get belligerent and tell them you're gonna write them up.
This whole situation is lose-lose though, I can totally understand not wanting a refurb. Everyone gets hosed in this situation, if it's the console owner, the store clerk, or whatever, everyone gets fucked. I got lucky when I got a console swap wayyyyyy back. I got a new one. This was before the increased warranty though, and before traffic through the repair center was as insane as it has been for the last 6 months. Anyway, moving to a topic outside of your mass stupidity, there was some interesting content on the XBLM today. Raiden Fighters Aces trailer hit the North American marketplace today, perhaps implying a North American release? Oh dear sweet jesus, please say yes. PLEASE. Also Omega 5, which I'm not sure if I like or not. |
I highly doubt they'll tell me to fuck off. I think they'd give me the benefit of the doubt. But as I said before, if not, I'll take it to a different Walmart and return the new one.
I don't think it is stupidity to think that they won't flip out on me. Anyway, we can just agree to disagree on it. I guess we'll find out soon. I'm going friday. |
The outcome depends on more factors that we can realistically account for right now, so who knows. I'm just letting you know it's not unheard of. Regardless, this is now extremely off topic and should be stopped.
Good luck getting a new system. |

They're making a compilation of Raiden games but they're not including the best of the series? I don't believe it. I thought this game was going to be, you know, non-XBLA and an actual retail release. |
Raiden Fighters != Raiden series
|
Ah, right. :eagletear:
I might buy it. I mean, the only other shooting game I've seen for the 360 (I said shooting, not SHOOTAN) is Shikigami no Shiro III, which came out mid December. And that was on the Wii and PC too. When is Ikaruga getting on the Arcade? Whatever, I wonder what made them decide it'd be a smart move to release a retail game of a niche genre on a console that's failing in Japan. Poor dudes. |
It's not XBLA, is it a retail release.
And Raiden Fighters is great in it's own right, so. Also avoid Omega 5. The demo was really short (half a stage, lawllergasm), and it didn't give me enough of a taste to really understand what it was gonna be like. Not really diggin' it now that I plunked the points down. Ah well. ;_; |
I would have liked to have seen Raiden DX or Raiden Fighters 2, personally. But hey, you take what you get in this case, especially when you can't read it's a compilation and Raiden Fighters 2 is in it I amagenius.
|
Um, Raiden Fighters Aces is a compilation of Raiden Fighters 1, Raiden Fighters 2, and Raiden Fighters Jet.
|
My edit powers are beyond the grace of God, cheese vendor. No clue what that means, but hey.

Metal Slug 3's achievement can be gotten in Easy Mode as well, however it's not like the latter half of stage 5 isn't a total shitstorm regardless of your gameplay difficulty anyway.
While it would be a simple enough deal on easy mode, "any mode" could imply live co-op mode as well, which means that player 2 acting as a fucking shitshield could make the game ridiculously simple to 1CC. I'm surprised at the score attack achievements not requiring a better grade, honestly. |
I might try that. I don't really give a shit about achievements but thank god I bought a 360 to PS2 adapter because I really wouldn't want to play this game with an analog stick.
Actually Metal Slug 3's multiplayer is really shitty. It's the kind of lag you would receive if you were playing over netplay or a really laggy Ragnarok Online server. Your movements are logged and if you decide to quickly change, you can't. It's annoying as fuck. As for Ikaruga, I've waited so long for it to be released that I don't care about it any more. It was exciting to hear about at the time, but it's taken forever and I really don't know why. I wonder if it'll have TATE support for HDTVs (haha, I'm hilarious) |
I guess it depends on the pings you're having, as for when I was playing Slug with Tails, it wasn't that bad at all.

Only reason I'm not jumping out of my chair about it being brought to live is that
I still have Ikaruga for the Gamecube. Since I'm not a collector per se, seems a bit pointless to get it again for Xbox Live. Unless they included online Multiplayer... |
Which they have, which I have mentioned specifically in an above post.
Reading comprehension, man. >=( |
Just a question; I've never been a fan of those shooter games (and I'll bob the next person who says SHOOTAN on the nose, I swear to God), but should I get Ikaruga when it comes? I've hear all this stuff about it being like the coming of The Flying Spaghetti Monster himself, but still...
