Naah, I'm about to go to bed anyway. Besides, if I see the Midna porn, then it would take me forever to get it up as I would be busy fapping.

And yes, I realize I am way too horny for my own good.

Oh, and it also doesn't help that Fchan is down again. :(

Sousuke Nov 29, 2006 07:26 AM

The Cave of Ordeals is at Gerudo Mesa, in the far SE area of Gerudo Desert. There's a huge stone pillar stuck in the ground, and the Cave is hidden underneath. :D

Completing every tenth floor unlocks...:
well, not much. Progressing through the four Spirit Springs, [one at a time] fairies will appear, for you to go bottle whenever you want. For getting to the last floor [after a very annoying battle with THREE DARKNUTS] you'll be able to speak to the Great Fairy at any of the springs, and get the Great Fairy's Tears, whenever you like. It refills all of your hearts, and boosts your attack for a short time.

rant:
God, that seems so completely useless considering to get that far you'd probably have or would have been able to beat the game in your sleep making the Great Fairy's Tears pretty damn useless. I figured it would have been something slighty cool like making the magic armor not drain your wallet anymore or perhaps a full heart container. I'm not sure I care to try the cave anymore. I hate after the fact items. Like how you get the biggest wallet from the bug girl after giving her all the bugs and of course when you give her the bugs your current 600 rupee wallet is completely full so any money she gives you is wasted. Not like she could have put that money on the side or something. No, it just disappears to nowhere because you're Link and although you can pull iron boots out of nowhere to sink from the weight you certainly didn't have before you can't carry a couple tens of thousands of rupees that you'll never actually even use in the game because apparantly Link's dimension pockets are picky and require that all rupees be contained in tiny wallets. Let's just say I have a lot of anger issues with all these rupee filled chests that are left in every dungeon I visited. It was like they were laughing at me because I couldn't carry their contents and also that they weren't that fucking small key I'd been searching an hour for. Looking at a map with all these rupee-bound treasure chests did not help my mapping.

Spoiler:
Maybe I just suck or something, but I had no issues with Agitha and her constant money givings. Her money helped with the bridge donation and the church donation and it paid for my Magic Armor. Pretty much Agitha's funds had set me up for the 4th and 5th dungeons and all the sidequests that involved throwing around Link's money.

Rupees are extremely easy to get in this game, and I guess that could have been in part due to the Magic Armor and it's Rupee-Sucking feature. (Sup 2 Rupees a second and 30 a hit) Although I do seem to recall Nintendo saying TP would not require you to Rupee grind so you could spend more time on the game itself rather than "Gotta get dat rupee"

Which kind of sucks, because after you've done everything you can with rupees what is there to do? Restocking isn't that much, especially with Malo Mart Castle Branch, and there are thousands of rupee grottos in the game... so where can all this money go?

I just spend it all playing the mini-games or fishing with Hena as a guide. Hell I even just wander around with the Magic Armor simply because I can afford those 8 1/3 minutes that it lasts.

church offering:
Just for kicks I started up my game and gave like 600 rupees to the church and I got nothing in return so of course I reseted my game unsure if the church was just a hole I'd be throwing rupees into. Can you please tell me what giving to the church will accomplish? I'd really like to know before I start wasting rupees on it.

church:
1000 rupees for a Piece of Heart.

Given to you by a power which you cannot comprehend =o

EDIT:

fishing:
Has anyone else gotten the Frog and Sinker lures for Lure Fishing? Frog lure comes from playing that evil Roll Goal game and beating all 8 levels (What a way to waste 1000 rupees btw~) and Sinker lure you have to catch a Hylian Pike , Hyrule Bass, and Ordona Catfish then you can steal it from the little area of water next to Hena's house with your regular fishing rod. However if she catches you using it if you use her as a guide she will steal it from you.

Fucking signed, especially with those red rupee chests; 20 rupees is easy enough to get, why would I give a shit if I couldn't carry it at that time? Another dumb thing was the apparently random placement of rupees and keys into big chests or small chests. At first, I thought small keys were only in big chests, so I spent a hour trying to find one big chest with a key in it, only to find that it's in a small chest for some reason.

RushJet1 Dec 1, 2006 10:10 AM

if anyone wants it, i have a minirip up of zelda: twilight princess... check my signature. i'd recommend only getting it if you've beaten the game though, as final boss songs are there too :)

speculative Dec 1, 2006 10:28 AM

So I've got this game... and I never played OOT or MM. I'm at a part just outside the village very early in the game where I have to jump over a series of pillars that are not in a straight line, and I'm having a heck of a time jumping across them. Is there any "trick" to doing jumps like this in Zelda? If I turn the stick to jump a different direction too soon then I just fall off the pillars, and if I wait until I touch the next pillar then it's too late and I just keep jumping straight ahead and fall off.

FatsDomino Dec 1, 2006 05:27 PM

Yes, press the Z button on your nunchuck attachment and the camera will position itslef directly behind Link. All you need to do is use that camera position to figure out how to position Link where he'll be best positoned to make a jump. Pretty simple.

The_Griffin Dec 1, 2006 05:56 PM

Alternatively, if you're a wolf, then the game will semi-automate the process (and it will look REALLY cool at the same time).

rpgcrazied Dec 2, 2006 04:39 PM

Guys that have beat it, is there a 2nd quest or anything nifty your 2nd time playing.. maybe play the game in the herd outfit?

None whatsoever. Maybe someday there will be downloadable content

WolfDemon Dec 8, 2006 03:05 AM

I cleared the story a few days ago and holy shit was that a good game. I wish it were a little longer, but 40 hours is still pretty good for a Zelda game. And there's still the Golden Bugs, Heart Containers, etc. for me to find.

Spoiler:
Why are there so many hot fuckin characters in this game. Sup Zora Queen and Ending Midna.

Soldier Dec 10, 2006 12:52 PM

Okay, I've been avoiding this thread like the plague, since I've yet to own a Wii. However, I now need your advice.

So it turns out that the GC version of TP is due this week, and Circuit City is offering it for $38. I was all prepared to purchase the Wii along with Zelda after Christmas, but with the recent purchase of my LCD TV, along with some additional peripherals I want to add with it, that plan seems pretty uncertain.

But if all I wanted to do was play Zelda, then why spend over $300 that would be hard to gather up, and just settle with the GC version for now (and sell it off later when I can afford the Wii)?

So I need some opinions. I've read that both versions are completely identical in visuals and sound, minus the widescreen support and controls. Do the Wii controls really make a big difference in this game, or can the same kind of fun be had with the traditional GC pad?

RABicle Dec 10, 2006 01:02 PM

Honestly, the Wii controls don't add much to this game. Lure Fishing is cool, as is aiming with the bow. But the game would be just as playable on GCN. Some reviews have talked about the controls feeling tacked on and while I definately agree they could've done a hell of a lot more, what they have done isn't detrimental to the game at all, infact I'd say the manual aiming bow and cursor menu interface is credit to the game.

That said, the fact that you HAVE an LCD tv which I'm assuming is widescreen, I don't think you should go past playing it in widescreen. There have been times when I've been playing that I've longed for widescreen.

Soldier Dec 10, 2006 01:05 PM

Believe me, I'm a sucker for widescreen, and demand that all future games, movies, and shows support it. That said, I'm told that Zelda Wii isn't exactly true widescreen, that they just crop some of the picture to give you that widescreen effect.

Even so, I have to ask myself if it's worth delaying my acquisition of Zelda for a few extra months just for a widescreen mode and some fun but clearly tacked-on controls.

StarmanDX Dec 10, 2006 01:51 PM

As far as sword controls go, I think Wii is better for the spin attack and some of the hidden skills, but other than that the functionality is about the same. Aiming, of course, is loads better, and you will find yourself aiming a lot more than in other Zelda games.

To be fair, most current gen games that feature a 16:9 mode aren't true widescreen, but they still look pretty damn good.

As for which version to buy, I'd say go for the Wii version. I finished it last night, and I really can't imagine doing certain things ingame without the remote. But if getting the Wii version means waiting a few extra months, then just go for the GCN copy. At least you'll have free camera control, and you'll be playing one of the best games of the generation.

Soldier Dec 10, 2006 05:41 PM

Exactly. It sucks putting off one of the two most anticipated games this year (FFXII being the other) just because I can't currently afford a new system ($250) plus the slightly tweaked game ($50) and component cables ($30), when I can just buy it right now for the system I have ($40).

I really have no other reason to getting a Wii this soon (just as how there's no real reason, at least from a gaming perspective, to get the PS3 other than Resistence), plus I want to concentrate my finances for my Home Theater setup.

Exactly. What's the big deal, it's the same game with a different control set.

I've played the Wii version, and I've played Zelda on the GC, and I honestly don't care either way. Aiming with the remote is fun, and swinging the sword is cool, but I can do the same things with a regular GC controller for $250 less.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Dec 11, 2006 03:54 PM

So, I've been hearing rumours of the GC version actually getting a pretty limited run.

Does anyone know if there are any substance to these rumours, or not? I can't find any definitive information on the subject.

PsychoJosh Dec 11, 2006 06:38 PM

I beat the game yesterday. Zelda endings always leave me with a sense of dissatisfaction because they just go right back to the title screen the instant all the credits roll... and this one feels the same way. It just leaves you with no real incentive to play it again because you've seen it all.

Spoiler:
Oh god Midna I miss you already

Wall Feces Dec 11, 2006 11:01 PM

SOLDIER - If you ask me, the Wii version is much more fun just because the controls are much more immersive. I can't really picture the GC version being anywhere near as fun to play. Doing all the attacks, aiming, and fishing is a much better experience and adds to the overall enjoyment factor of the game.

FatsDomino Dec 12, 2006 12:16 AM

Fucking jellies. One got stuck behind a door in the cave of trials and now I have to restart because the door won't open if it's not dead.
