Quoted for truth. (Sorry can't count FFXII now, to be fair).

-_-' Then don't get FFXII if you feel that way. I mean, what's worse is seeing you guys whine like little kids with games like these. So, Square Enix did a really good job with the game.

I have to agree. I'm playing it right now and after 37 hours of game play I can't say a bad thing about it =). Game have a lot of new things and gives you SO MUCH fun that you can play it over and over.

CuteChocobo Mar 27, 2006 02:43 AM

Even though the air ship thing may not provide flexibility and fun, but somehow I hate to manually controlling air... coz i get lost easily *sigh*
But that is just me ^ ^

midais Mar 27, 2006 06:34 AM

Controlling an airship isn't that fun in the FF series anyway. Its not like there's a whole lot to do on the world map/s.

Hello_Kitty Mar 27, 2006 06:57 AM

i used to like wizzing around with the airship in FF7

you can also get a feel of how the world is and that's good, though usually the airship about half the size of the globe ^^

CuteChocobo Mar 27, 2006 07:23 AM

Yeah, FF worlds aren't round they are flat rectangular shaped, so once you goes to the side of the world you get teleported to the opposite side in an instant.

Another thing is that I dun like how Chocobos are implemented >_< *sigh*
What happend to the good ol' days where you can just catch a chocobo for free...

Craze Mar 27, 2006 09:23 AM

It's not exactly free, is it? You have to buy all the Mimette Greens, and tons of other expensive food...the stables aren't cheap either :p

Spatula Mar 27, 2006 10:37 AM

Seeing as my previous comment was deleted, I guess I'll expound more on my point:
I'm going along the lines of B4 Hunter and enjoy what the game has to offer in its other departments, especially the new battle system. I'm not going to let a lack of the
Spoiler (highlight to read):
airship control
totally turn me off as I'm still looking forward to this title with great enthusiasm. So far with all the positive comments, I'm sure I can over look that spoiled part. Plus the nagivation system in FFX wasn't that bad, although it was somewhat restrictive as in adventure.

Can you at least "walk" around in your own ship?

CuteChocobo Mar 28, 2006 12:12 AM

NO... you'll just teleport around the world map!

Just kidding ^ ^ You can walk around alright!

Regarding the maps system:
The map system is quite similar to Star Ocean 3, where you have to explore to get the full map. Else you will have shrouded/uncovered maps and no enemy datas.
S-E made the map system flexible by allowing players to purchase pre-explored maps at a price equivalent to the difficulty of the location or the rare-lity of the dungeon.
Exploring the map is heap fun too, especially going for treasure hunting!

How does FFXII compare with the other FF titles? Can it keep up with VI and VII?

I'll say "Yes". For me it's one of the best if not the best one. I can't understand people that still stick to FF VII. I think that FF VII title was already sucked dry so better let him be till the remake on PS3.

CuteChocobo Mar 28, 2006 07:33 AM

For me, Yes too!
FFXII is actually now in place with my top fav 3 FFs... actually in #1 spot right now. That might change after playing a few times ;) We will just have to wait and see~

Is there any news on English version of FFXII? are there gonna be any extra contents?

You've played 37 hours into an RPG which is entirely japanese, and you're only going by a guide to help you out? I don't know how you have the patience for that, man.

Oh, and towards Elrasiel's comment, that would depend on whether or not you would consider it fair for newer, more updated games to outlaw the previous ones. VI and VII were only on limited technology back when they were made, and XII has a broader array of technology with what the PS2 has to offer.

I guess it all depends on what you make of it, but VII is overrated to hell as it is. I expect XII to either slip completely under the radar like X-2 did, or become a massive hit when it's internationalized.

Spatula Mar 28, 2006 03:47 PM

I can't really see how FFXII would slip under the radar considering of the over-abundance of multinational FF fansites all simulanteously posting ANY updates at all on the game.

LS Mar 29, 2006 01:10 AM

Well I guess too bad this is just a place-holder cover for the time being, as I think it's a bit more interesting than the Japanese cover (no ill towards that awesome cover as well).

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...2-ff12-usa.jpg

But I still dread how the US publishers will just BASTARDIZE the cover for the NA release.

Inhert Mar 30, 2006 05:43 PM

lol this look so fake to me >.> beside you don't event see the logo of the game on it (every FF have the logo on the cover not just the text) and for me it just ugly, they didn't even took the best part of that artwork >.>

for me I think it ill be probably the Vaan or Ashee artwork that they will put on the cover (probably like the FFX one) or if I think about it they may proably use the Judge artwork on the cover which would be pretty cool for me ^^

Oh and even if the jp cover is good (that I think is just the logo like every FF), I think that the US cover are pretty good (except the FFX-2 one which was the worst cover of all ff >.> come on, even someone that don't know anything about photoshop could have came out with something 10x better >.< )

Elixir Mar 30, 2006 06:35 PM

That's definitely a concept art, not a real cover. I can pretty much assume the european cover will be exactly like the japanese cover, as all previous Final Fantasy titles here have been a simple white background, with the title.

Spatula Mar 30, 2006 08:25 PM

Yeah I DID mention it was just a place-holder, but it still does look somewhat nice. Too bad the US version will have ugly ass Vaan all over Penelo.

Freddy Krueger Mar 30, 2006 09:13 PM

Actually lately I have been liking the recent Square-Enix covers.

MrSatan Mar 31, 2006 12:31 AM

i wonder if SE will make a cover with the main characters in the front, like FFVIII.
i have a hunch
