200CC Baby Park. 7 laps. 90 seconds. So dumb, it's gonna be great.
More new tracks. Big Blue looks amazing and has the goddamn announcer for the Final Lap, fucking baller as hell. Also like the female villager trick poses.

Neo Bowser City looks pretty disappointing. They didn't change it at all and it was kind of a meh track in Mario Kart 7 that really could have been great it they had done a total Mario Kart 8 rehaul. Cheese Land looks like it could be fun but I think the lack of a night/moon aesthetic makes it look like every other desert track in the game. Also while I'm okay with not having mousers on the track they should have at least had them in the stands or on the sides like they do with Shy Guys, Toads, and Yoshis. Besides those two tracks and my complaints with them, DLC2 is pretty damn stellar. I really hope Nintendo announces two more DLC packs at E3. Extending the life of Mario Kart 8 will ensure that people keep playing and giving Nintendo money.

There was much chumping this week as only 4 made it to Karts. However, it can be forgiven because Music Park was not played once (although Tritoch attempted to ruin that).
I expect there to not be much chumping next weekend (and I actually expect some returning people) due to the new DLC coming out as well as 200cc (WE GONNA WRECK), but I do recall someone saying they would miss it due to vacation. Sad times. :( We lasted about 2 cups before Tritoch and myself migrated to Smash.

DLC is out. Early word is that 200cc is completely fucking nuts, even super hardcore people I know over on GAF who have max VR (?) scores and shit are falling off the track and hitting walls constantly, and at least for right now braking is a must or you gonna die. This also has unintentionally led to baby and featherweights now being top tier since they have higher grip which is hilarious to me.
Also to access 200cc in any mode you have to have beaten all cups on 150cc. It's not clear on if you have to have 3 starred them, gotten Gold or just beaten them period, but a heads up for folks who haven't bothered doing that before. |
Confirmed that 200cc is insane. I tried it out on 5 tracks. Excitebike, you're going so fast that the ramp boosts make you fly over 2-3 ramps completely. By the time you land, you're about to do another ramp boost.
But Mute City, MY GOD Mute City on 200cc is ridiculous. |
I only had time to play for a few minutes last night, so I just ran through the 2 DLC cups in 50cc Grand Prix to get 3-starring them out of the way and check out the courses and new characters/karts. All of the tracks are pretty great. Big Blue is fucking awesome. The whole time I was trying to imagine playing these on 200cc and there are parts and tracks where I'm just like noooooooooooooooooooope

The new DLC is really excellent. All of the tracks are exceptionally good. Baby Park is somehow even better than it was on GC. 200cc is shitfucking bananas. This game is a gift that keeps on giving.

Played one race of 200cc on Baby Park. It was the best worst Mario Kart experience I have ever had.

Karting with you guys was great today. I can't believe I actually won two cups! Gold! Twice! One 150cc and one 200cc! I had a lot of fun.

I arrived late and left early today. Also Hitbox was dropping so many frames so my only recording it managed to save is just nine minutes long. It does contain a "Did you know... ?" session which is always great. =)
