No games is perfectionist games. Players just make them out to be. personally there are few games I bother to unlock all the extra features/get all the stash ect. Lately I haven't even completed many of the games I buy... hehe maybe I'm growing to old for games. ;)

What's this I hear about a cracked hinge issue. Has anyone suffered from it or noticed anything?

Vampiro Jul 18, 2006 05:55 PM

Nope. I use mine quite often and have had it since launch. No problems with the hinge. I wouldn't doubt it's just kids who don't know how to properly handle it. It's probably not even wide-spread.

Elixir Jul 18, 2006 06:00 PM

I haven't had a problem with any of the DS Lites I've been using. I found some idiot whining about it here and how it's apparently a "faulty design." Yet, if it were a faulty design, this problem would be like Vamp just said. Wide-spread.

If you take care of it, it'll be fine. At first I was against the DS Lite (because of course, I didn't own one) but now I'm for it. If people look after their stuff and don't throw the top screen back when opening it, there shouldn't be a problem.

Omnislash124 Jul 18, 2006 06:20 PM

Nope, no problems with the hinge. It travels with me a lot in my pocket unprotected, and even then, it's still perfect. The white DS Lite does get dirty somewhat quick though.

On a second note....maybe it's just mine, but my L shoulder button just craps out on me randomly. Does this happen to anybody else's DS?

BurningRanger Jul 29, 2006 08:13 PM

So I'm assuming some of you at least have seen a friend's PSP. I think my friend's PSP came with a carrying case... sort of like a leathery sleeve. He can tuck his PSP in there any time and it'll be nice and sheltered.

I'm looking for one of those for my DS Lite. Do they make them? All I've seen from looking around at Gamestops is crappy zippered cases that are bulky and ooglah.

nabhan Jul 29, 2006 10:22 PM

It's possible I never noticed this before, or that I'm just incredibly anal, but I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else's touch screen?

Alright, so it seems as though moisture or something of that nature has built up UNDER the screen. On white, or light backgrounds for that matter, I can little 'specs' that take on the colour of the screen, but appear as though they have water on it or something.

It doesn't affect gameplay or anything, it's just incredibly irritating to me. Lent didn't notice it, and my mom couldn't tell until I pointed it out. I called Nintendo of Canada and they said they would repair it free of charge. Thing is, it would cost quite a bit to ship it insured :\/

This is the only thing I can think of that's kinda similar to that. I never used that one, but my sister has one for her regular DS that I've seen her use. It fits pretty snug around the DS, and she's never had any problems with it.

So, Nintendo's bringing cooking to the DS now: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/a4vj/index.html

It isn't the first of its kind, though. Taito released Cooking Mama in March for the DS, which should be in the US this year through Majesco. However, Cooking Mama is more of a game, though it can be used as an aid. Nintendo's software is intended to be an aid, with many recipes and a guiding voice.

Makes me wonder what other kinds of adult-aimed software they're going to put on the DS. They've done dictionaries and language software. If they haven't already, are they going to make mapping software like Sony did for the PSP (which works pretty well, in Japan)? Maybe Planetarium software (which is also going to the PSP)?

I think it'd be nice to see Nintendo make a simple and cheap chat program, the net-based Pictochat.

Cobalt Katze Jul 30, 2006 10:44 PM

I really hope Nintendo brings that cooking helper to the US :o I'd totally use it haha.

Kesubei Aug 1, 2006 09:12 PM

According to Gamespot, Sega's bringing Sangokushi Taisen to the DS. For those who don't know, Sangokushi Taisen is an arcade game in Japan that players control by moving cards on a tablet with a built-in sensor. It's the most popular non-Fighting arcade game in Japan.

Since the DS is the only system with a touch screen, Sega has no other system to release this for. I'm not sure what Sega plans to do with this conversion, as the DS is pretty lower on power and space, but as of right now I'm a little skeptical of how this will turn out.

Has anyone tried this yet? An internet browser for DS and DSlite.

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-...n-70-1gba.html

Japan sure gets a lot of helpful DS games. Dictionaries, learning aids, cooking helpers.

Unless someone's actually taken the time to import it, probably not.

I don't know about M3 but this doesn't work with the supercard.

BurningRanger Aug 2, 2006 04:13 AM

It doesn't work with any piracy software, the real version comes with a RAM expansion so the DS won't detonate upon insertion.

I've seen a video of the DS browser in use... apparently it's functional, but slow. Hopefully it'll be improved before a stateside release.

I really couldn't be stuffed making a whole thread, so I'll just bump this grab bag thread! Yoshi's Island 2 box revealed today. =)

To me Wario's power seems a little weak, but I can see the others working well. I just hope Artoon don't screw this up!

nazpyro Aug 12, 2006 01:07 PM

Ohh, lookin' good, lookin' good.

I do wonder what the Wi-Fi mode would bring. Frantic random multiplayer fun is always brilliant.

FatsDomino Aug 12, 2006 01:36 PM

Baby Luigi, Baby Toad, Baby Daisy, and Baby WaLuigi didn't make the cut it would seem. :(

Also, this game is either going to be the best game ever or the biggest let-down ever. Come on Artoon! You will not be forgiven if you mess this up.

YoMan Aug 14, 2006 09:50 AM

I just ordered a DS lite. I have been delaying it for far to long. It will be interseting to see if Ace Attorney and Trauma Center is any good. I have heard good things about them. Now i only have to wait a couple of days.

How could the makers of Blinx, Ghost Trap and Yoshi Topsy-Turvy possibly mess this up?

Oh yeah, that's why. ;_;

I'm definitely getting a DS Lite now! The whole reason I didn't get one at launch was because I hate white, but now that they're coming out with the black one here, I have no reason not to get one!

kilfrg7864 Aug 24, 2006 03:43 PM

are you kidding me.... crap i just bought the white DS :-/ im sad now... i bought it like last week maybe its not too late to return it!!! wait for sept 13 and get the black!!... but wait... black will show scratches easier...hrmm...

have any pictures of hte onyx ds lite??

RPG Maker Aug 24, 2006 04:46 PM

Finally, I'm get myself a Onyx DS Lite.

soapy Aug 24, 2006 04:48 PM

Aww, they still don't have a blue... I actually don't mind white, it looks like a little mac device. I just hope it doesn't eventually get dirty. Funny how popular Animal Crossing is... except no one I know has it. Brain age is definitely a fun little puzzle game to take with you anywhere. Meanwhile I'm actually playing FFIV on the DS :p

The Plane Is A Tiger Aug 24, 2006 04:56 PM

Score, FINALLY I can trade in my old DS for a spiffy Onyx Lite. I've been so tempted by the DS Lite, but I really hated the white color.
