Ooooh I'd like to request that! II can judge whether to get it or not from the scans, as I'm not actually a big FFVII fan, just someone who appreciates AC a lot. If it's anything like the Reunion Files though, I'll get it.
As for the Japanese text, there is a translation online that I conveniently forgot to mention. It's located here. Still, I wish I could the translation in an actual book. |

I really dig Fenrir. It's bloody HUGE. No Cloud figure can be complete without it. Oh, and that Cloud statue you've posted looks like, really nice, but then I happened to look at the asking price. Maaaaan...I'd like to see more PlayArts from the AC line but I don't see that ever happening anytime soon. |
 I so want those new Sephiroth and Cloud figure now ; ; but damn 400$!! I guess I'll pass on those >.<
(god I never would have think tht I would start to buy figure from video game XD but they are so well done that I couldn't resist XD) |
Why don't you just get the PlayArts Seph and Cloud? I don't have Seph, but Cloud's awesome. At least they won't break your bank :D
|
I already have them XD but those two look so much better XD well if the price drop below 100$ I might buy them but it will probably never happen anytime soon XD
|
Oh! I thought you didn't have any figs from your 'never would have think tht I would start to buy figure from video game' comment. Never mind then.
I dunno though. I think I like the PlayArts' Cloud's hair more than the other fig, but the arms on the 1/4 figure look a lot more sturdy since he can actually hold his sword with one hand. Wow. Yeah, too bad about the hideous price tag. I'd get it if it was less than a 100, and I doubt we'll ever see any price drop. Update! Okay, I take it back. The bigger statue has some very nice hair too. |
yeah i have the 4 FFVII:AC one + fenrir and the 3 FFVIII figures. I'm curently waiting for Yuna/Tidus/Auron that I think will be out this fall XD
it's just that before I really didn't like the figure they made, they looked cheap and wasn't really as detailed as those PlayArts figures, and most of the time they where just statue, now being able to position them in many positon, i really like that and the detail really impress me now XD my only complain is that some face are not that great (selphie and rinoa one) but they seem to change that with the FFXII one. It's just that before those figures I would have never thought I would start to collect those goodies XD |
Really? I saw close-ups of the Rinoa and Selphie ones, and they looked pretty darn good to me. I only have Cloud + Fenrir and Squall. I don't want anyone else :D
I do agree with you on one thing though. I never thought I'd get these figures as well. Importing stuff is usually expensive for me, so I never get anything even though I'd like to.. Squall's my fave FF character, so as soon as I heard of a new fig coming out, I knew I just had to have it. Same with Cloud, 'cause I really really liked his AC design. Don't care for the FFXII figs, but that FFXIII one looks very nice. TAKING PICS OF FIGS IS FUN! http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b8...e/cdd88285.jpg |
Some more images of those Deluxe Figures. The more I look at the pictures, the more I begin to think that their not actually action figures, but rather statues. Maybe I misinterpreted Figures.com's article...

Eg. FFXII, FFX, FFVIII, FFVII AC play arts *Gotta say, that Play Arts Auron looks great. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like his left arm will have much articulation. http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/4580/310dc4.th.jpg |

That Sephiroth is bone chilling, but in a good way. The way the leather and hair came out is just perfect.
Still, you've got to be out of your mind to shell out $400. G's VA has been confirmed. Quote:
http://www.robinatkindownes.com/animation_resume.pdf It'll be interesting to see how he will handle the role, as it seems G is going to be a regular in the FFVII universe for a while. Still, I can't believe the guy couldn't spell Samanosuke Akechi correctly. :/ And here's a Youtube link of the english commercial. The new voices sound nice, and Blum is definetely back as Vincent. http://youtube.com/watch?v=6zd4doKhaaA I'm also pretty disappointed how EGM continues to slam the game before it's even been reviewed. Then again, I'm not expecting much gameplay-wise, nor do I care much. The game looks amazing, so it'll be worth it for the presentation if nothing else. |
The official DoC site has been up since yesterday.
http://na.square-enix.com/dcff7/ I stand by what I said; gameplay isn't going to be a factor here. Those cutscenes look amazing (and plenty dark, even by FFVII standards). I can't tell at all if Yuffie is played by Christie Romano or her replacement in KH2. Also, they changed the R in WRO from "Restoration" to "Regenesis". I preferred the former. The latter is a bit cheesy (and is that even a real word?). |
Well I actually like to play my games and enjoy doing so which means I'll be avoiding Dirge of Cerberus. Pretty visuals aren't enough to cover the thin plot and broken gameplay.
Those $400 figures though....for $400 I expect them to be over 3 feet tall and the weapons to made out of steel and limited to about 50pcs at least. The Mechanical Arts line looks good though but I'm really impressed with the FFXII figures even compared to the $400 figures. |
Nice sig and avatar can't wait to see Miami Vice, but what makes you think the plot and gameplay will suck? SE put a lot of extra time into refining the gameplay and fixing the broken parts from the jpn ver for the US ver.

Gametrailers has a cool video showing the differences between the Japanese and NA versions of this game.
http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=2296 I don't know about the rest of you, but it certainly looks playable to me. And again, those cutscenes look fantastic. I just wish I knew whether that was Christie Romano or her replacement voicing Yuffie. |
Hmm, I think I might wait till this game makes greatest hits or drops $20 at Future Shop. Heh, interest in DoC kinda deteriorated with the long wait. But maybe that'll change once the hype/ads starting kicking in.
On another not, related to FFX Play Arts, Auron just shipped to stores yesterday! I'll be picking up mine later today, and will try post some pics before I head off to work. |
Do you mean NA stores? Have the FFVIII figures been released for the US as well? How much are they going for (hopefully the same as the AC figures)?
|
Yea NA release (Japan had em since the end of June, pretty quick distribution to NA). As for FFVIII Play Arts, they're been out since, about, May. Paid $27.95 CAD each for the FFVIII figures, which was the same as what I paid for my AC figs. Probably gonna be the same for the FFX figs as well.

I just watched the trailer, and yeah the game definitely looks playable. I was really only perturbed with one thing I heard...
In all the times I've played Final Fantasy 7, I always pronounced mako as "may-koh." Vincent says "mah-koh" when he speaks about the mako cannon being ready. :/ |
Well mah-koh would make sense from a Japanese pronunciation.
If it's any consolation, I always pronounced Yuffie as "Yuff-ee" until all my friends and eventually KH voiceovers declared me dead wrong. |
Got the Auron figure yesterday, costed me about $28 CAD (tag price 27.95) didn't have to pay GST cause I'm regular there. Pretty much the same amount I paid for my FF7AC and FF8 play arts.
As for quality of the figure, pretty good. Though Auron's legs aren't as mobile as I had hoped (leg articulation is similar to Vincent's), he could have used a swivel joint between the knee and the hip (like the one used on the FF8 figures). He also could have used a swivel joint between the elbow and shoulder on his right arm. As for sling arm or sleeveless arm, you actually switch in and out pieces. Kind of a bit challenging at first, but simple once you know the trick. One suggestion though, I'd shave off a little of the left arm's bolt joint as well as the socket for the joint itself. As that will make it easier to insert and remove his left arm, and therefore reducing risk of damage to the figure itself when switching between. Overall, an awesome Auron figure. Some pics, will post more in requested. Oh and I'd try to be gentle with figure, as my first Auron's knee joint broke (factory's fault, not mine) so I had to go exchange him for another (which I did on my way to work). The joints at the knee and elbow seem to be quite delicate. http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/6...rontmq4.th.jpghttp://img101.imageshack.us/img101/2...backih6.th.jpghttp://img155.imageshack.us/img155/6...on07or9.th.jpg http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/1...on08ec4.th.jpghttp://img155.imageshack.us/img155/1...on09ew2.th.jpghttp://img157.imageshack.us/img157/1...on01iv9.th.jpghttp://img155.imageshack.us/img155/6...on02zw7.th.jpg http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/7...on06ew2.th.jpghttp://img155.imageshack.us/img155/2...on05rb4.th.jpghttp://img155.imageshack.us/img155/2...on03wr0.th.jpghttp://img155.imageshack.us/img155/8...on04wn9.th.jpg Also, Tidus and Yuna are scheduled to ship next week! |
Whatever changes to the game obviously didn't help fix things all that much according to EGM who review the title in their new issue and end the reviews with 5.0, 5.0, 4.0.
Can't say I'm surprised since the Japanese version was barely playable and to get any kind of game out of it would of meant Square Enix scrapping everything and rebuilding the game from the ground up. |
I don't see how, me and my friend watched a lot of NA gameplay vids and can't wait for this game. Also for it's story, and music.
