I don't think he freezes people, I think it's a manifestation of his telekinesis. And the 'flying' seemed to be more of a power jump, Super Mario 2 style.

I'm also not entirely convinced that Hiro saved Charlie/Charley/whatever her name was. She had the Japanese phrase book in his 'current time,' and it's the same phrase book that he gave her in the past. He told her all about time-traveling, so it's possible that she knew who he was when he came in that day. They made it oblique enough that I can't decide exactly what went on. Just because Hiro got more facts about the situation doesn't mean that he changed it. I dunno.

Sousuke Feb 12, 2007 09:34 AM

I agree with Drex; I mean, Hiro gave her the phrasebook on her birthday, just like she said. The only thing wrong with the situation is... The photo in the memorial, I don't think it had Hiro in it until he went back to save her. Then he suddenly appeared in it. I'll have to check on that, though.

Drex Feb 12, 2007 10:40 AM

Hmm, that's right, actually. They made a point of showing the picture before, and Hiro wasn't in it. I guess that's their way of showing us how the space-time thing works in their world, but it's also inconsistent. We were looking at a time when Hiro had not yet gone back in time to save Charlie, but at the same time it was a time in which Hiro had already gone back in the future to visit Peter. I don't think that's possible. Oh well.

The Furious One Feb 12, 2007 12:46 PM

I think its possible for hiro to have multiple copies of himself exisiting in the same time frame.
He could decide to go back in time to do one then decide to revisit the same point in time. If anyone ever saw Time Cop with Van Damme its like that.
He could build an army lol

Drex Feb 12, 2007 01:43 PM

I'm not disputing the fact that there can be multiple 'copies' of himself at one point in time, but the inconsistency of not having a current self in the past while having a future self in the present. It breaks all conceptualization of messing with space-time.

About the comment on Sudbury... I just went back to check it, cause it didn't seem right. He said that Sudbury was 100 miles out of Ontario, which isn't right. It's in Ontario. Ah well. Semantics.

Another small [yet random] tidbit: When Claire is lying on the autopsy table and she 'zips' herself back up, she has no bewbs. XD

There is one episode before we know who Sylar is, when the police, maybe even Matt, find a murder scene where a corpse is sitting at the kitchen table (for breakfast) and the scalp is sliced off. That corspe had been frozen, you can see the icicles hanging off the skin and the skin was all freezer burned.

Menzoberranzan Feb 13, 2007 11:24 AM

Now Sylar has an even more nasty power. I wonder what it'll do to another human. *Shudders*. Suresh better get the frak outta there lol

Edit: On the latest episode I found it just downright depressing. I think its the most depressing Heroes episode so far. Claire's hopeful family union gets screwed over with greed and self preseveration, Matt gets whooped and ends up on another crap end of his job, Nikki's out doing hits for Lindy, Ando and Hiro got screwed over by a too tall lady, etc

DEPRESSING

makura Feb 13, 2007 12:21 PM

Sylar does have freezing powers. I think he probably killed Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat.

Though he was never shown using his freezing powers on the show, the new graphic novel does.

The Furious One Feb 13, 2007 04:57 PM

I thought that was one of the best episodes so far.

Nathan did meet Claire before didnt he?? Or did she leave before he came and bailed Peter.

it was cool seeing Jessica in action,

Spoiler:
why does Linderman want Nathan dead???
we know the fat guy stole from 2M but what has Nathan done??

Sousuke Feb 13, 2007 05:04 PM

Maybe he wants to get back at him for demanding $4M instead of the original $2M? Or maybe it's something else we don't know about yet.

I like how Matt was able to hear both Jessica and Niki.

About Claire and Nathan... She only met Peter, and left before Nathan came along. But heh, that makes Peter her uncle. [Obviously.]

On the topic of Peter, though... He did come into contact with Sylar, so he should be able to use his powers. Though the question is--would Peter gain only Sylar's power, or all of his 'stolen' powers too?

It's also pronouced "sud-bury" (as in soap"suds" and burying a corpse)

Dark Nation Feb 13, 2007 06:07 PM

Hey guys, I've noticed that NBC.com had the first and then 11th to present episodes for viewing, but is there a way to watch the 2nd to 10th episodes? I want to get caught up, and watching it on NBC was a very nice way to do so.

The other method is to torrent the episodes, but I was hoping a legal method would prove existant.

But otherwise, I love the show and can't wait to get completely caught up =D

Grail Feb 13, 2007 06:29 PM

Well...really....I can't see how downloading a torrent can be illegal till the series boxset comes out....cause there is no way to legally pay for it, and so...yeah

Now selling the dvds to people, yeah that's illegal

I got caught up by watching the earlier episodes on youtube.com, they have all of the episodes posted there.

Did anyone watch Deal or No Deal before Heroes last night? They showed a sneak peak of a new Hero. Some lady that has super-hearing (ala Daredevil).

It shows Mohinder and Sylar interviewing her and she after she explains her power, she takes a step away from Sylar and says,"Your heart is speeding up. Are you nervous about something?"

Sylar has mastered mostly the telekinesis. And this is, I believe, how he miraculously "flew" away from Parkman; he directed the telekinesis upon himself. This trick has been done for years in comic books. Look at Jean Grey, for example. So it's no stretch to believe Sylar could use it too.

Likewise, his "super strength" could've simply been a telekinetic "push". Yes, he struck Claire, but he could've focused the TK upon her too. So I don't think it's plausible to say that Sylar has super strength.

Sylar's new power is interesting. It seems that Zane Taylor could "phase shift" objects, that is, turn them from solid to liquid. Perhaps Sylar can reverse this and solidify liquids, and disperse solids into gas.
It upsets me that we got to see a new "hero" only to have them get whacked immediately. Sure, it fuels the Sylar plot but they seem to do this whenever the new power is particularly versatile. Sylar could wreak a lot of damage with a "phase-shifting" ability.

Incidentally, if you visit http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/games/map.shtml, you can see a makeshift map like the one in Mohinder's apartment. It has the names and locations of a handful of unseen heroes on it, some of whose powers are already identified.

One person - Tracy Chobham - has teleportation abilities. This would seem similar to Hiro's ability to bend space, but perhaps it works under a different mechanism.

Another person's power is questionably listed as precognition. This would seem similar to Isaac's ability to paint the future, but probably works in the more traditional sense and probably doesn't have the long range that Isaac possesses, in favor of short-term foresight.

Curiously, there are what appears to be DNA codes listed too, as if to imply that there's a distinct formula that can predict what each genetic marker will grant. Mohinder did posses a file on Nathan that correctly identified his gift of flight, so there's likely a grain of truth to these computations.

Just food for thought.

Sousuke Feb 14, 2007 11:51 AM

Should we also assume that Sylar has some sort of teleportation power? I mean, they said that Eden ended up in Sudbury after all, which is quite a ways from Texas where he was being held.

Actually, it's more like 'sud-burry', not 'sud-barry'. ;)

That would be an incorrect-o on the whole teleportation thing. The web-comics on nbc.com show that Sylar was put down with tranquilizers before he could escape, though unfortunately it was after Eden had offed herself.

I assume that someone just dumped the body there from the company.

Alright, so who is going to die next week? My bet is on Mr. Bennet's wife, though I kinda like her character so it would be dissapointing to see her kick the bucket because of a brain tumor or something.

But his powers could of been blocked, the Haitian was there aswell

I think he was talking about Sylar dumping Eden's Body off at that lake, and I said it was unlikely since Bennet and the Haitian got there before her body was even taken away.

Besides, he hitchhikes...why would he do that if he could teleport?

Sousuke Feb 14, 2007 09:07 PM

Meh, it was a thought. I was just wondering how she got across the continent so quickly. :P

You know, you do bring up a good point...

Mr. Bennet seems to travel fast...very fast. So either he has contacts that do pick-ups, or something once more is deeper in bennet than what we all see.

parKbench Feb 15, 2007 06:55 AM

Linderman seems to have connection to every hero and he seems to know alot about them (ie: he is collecting all of Issac's paintings, Hiro's sword) but he had strong ties to Nathan and Peter's father. Since both brothers have powers, I wonder if the father had powers, too; and if that is why Linderman seems to be so obsessed with the new Heroes. I, also, wonder if the father REALLY died of a "heart attack".
