Well, I'm not really annoyed at anyone here, I just haven't had a lot of sleep tonight... Either way, it's hard for me to compare the two seasons, because I only started watching Lost less than half a year ago, so I saw the whole of first season during a week or two. I would say that the first season was a bit better, but that's largely because I didn't experience the pacing problems that the show has had this year. I dunno. I still like Lost a lot, though, and there have been only a few episodes that I can honestly call boring.

Musharraf May 29, 2006 05:42 AM

I told Aardark to get more sleep, for that matter

But I didn't want to defend Eleo either, because apparently he wants everyone from the Lost cast to die or something like that and yeah well, it is pretty inconsequent after all; I mean it's like LeHah's Battlestar Galactica New Series-phobia. He watches every episode just to tell everyone how he hated it. I guess I was talking about another kind of uhh dislikers, sorry for not making that clear.

You know, the draw for the "Others" is that they are mysterious. But we heard Walt say not to believe them because they are not what they appear. How much does Walt know? Could he tell Michael enough about the Others for Michael to make an informed decision about turning the boat around. Also, if Walt has this special power to affect reality, then couldn't he just defeat the Others? The only answer is that they have this power as well. Otherwise, they would have never let Walt go, first of all, and second of all Walt could have simply defeated them himself.

Yeah... but damn, another person from one of the cast's past mysterious re-emerges. Not to mention Libby in Des's flashback. This is getting mighty convenient...

Oh, and CHARLIE AND CLAIRE!!!!!! YEEEEEHAW!!
I hated that so much. Charlie is a whiny, irresponsible git, and Claire hated his guts and wanted him to stay away from her and her baby. Now, because he offered some strange vaccine, which she doesn't even know what the fuck it does, she's suddenly friendly with him again? Meh. Horrible writing, that's what it is.
I used to like Claire, but she's just shown herself to be a whiny dumb blonde in this season.

Majin yami May 30, 2006 08:10 AM

I've always liked Charlie. He may be slightly irresponsible but that's why we love him.

JazzFlight May 30, 2006 08:21 AM

The main problem is that in Season 2, Charlie... um... kinda went nuts.

I don't even know what he's thinking anymore. With Season 1, he developed, "got over" his drug addiction, and was pairing off with Claire (even though I thought the "peenut buttah" scenes were gag-inducing).

Season 2, he starts back with the drugs, starts seeing weird shit and messing around with Claire's baby, knocks out Sun, hangs around with Eko because he's mentally unstable and for some reason REALLLLLY wants to build a church, and now is taking the "vaccine" and giving it to Claire. Plus, in the last episode he was all like "wha, nothing happened in the hatch, lol. You're silly." He's not a character that the audience can relate to.

He's just another one of the unlikable characters of Lost.

Well, he never actually started on the drugs again. He just kept the Mary statues around.
As for becoming loony, that can be a number of things:
1. The Island has been fucking with his brain
2. The fact that he's actually had the worst time on the Island probably means he's gone a bit gaga.

Well uhh almost everyone who used to be cool in Season 1 became quite an ass in season 2. Just look at Jack Ass (Ass for Shepard), he used to be my favorite character, but now, ehh, he's just not cool anymore, what a choleric jerk he became, I cannot believe it.

I am curious if you're being sarcastic here. Jack was your favorite character? Is this scientifically POSSIBLE? Jack is so unlikeable.

I am so done with Charlie. I can't muster any emotion regarding his bipolar disorder. He's good, he's bad. He's good again, he's bad again. NO INTEREST now. I just expect that a week later, he'll change again. Fucking Charlie. And then Claire irritates me too, because she's almost as bad. Match made in heaven, man.

I hear rumors that in real life, Charlie is dating Kate. ??

Truth. I read that they were thinking about kids but are holding off until the show is done. The last plot twist we need is Kate being preggers for 3 seasons along with Sun.

I never liked Jack, but I atleast tolerated him and saw things from his perspective in season 1. This season I could give a fuck less about him with all his bitching and ordering around. I'm not overly mad about that, though. They made Locke so fascinating when I thought they couldn't do anything more with him.

Musharraf May 30, 2006 09:25 AM

Well, come on he has not been that arrogant in the first few episode; I mean, everyone respected him and he was some kind of savior to them; nevertheless, very soon it turned out that he's a complete asshole and stuff.

I seriously want Charlie and Claire to die. The baby can live. Fuck, they all must die, I do not even want the baby to live

Speaking of everyone dying, I heard that there was supposed to be a "massacre" from more than once source in the finale.

So I am wondering, now, if there is some kind of magnetic repercussion from the hatch exploding/imploding? It seems more like that it would IMPLODE, really.

Not to mention The Others looked like the magnetic crap was pretty inconsequential. They weren't even visiaully bothered by the explosion. Which makes me a little less concerned about it all.

And I guess thats my main qualm with the finale. It did not instill enough CONCERN in me.

British Chris May 30, 2006 05:25 PM

with regards to the "surely the whole hatch should have imploded" from what i gather, pressing the button expels any stored energy yes? so where the hell does that energy go? outward. now when desmond didn't press the button quite in time there would have been more energy yes? so surely that might qualify it being expelled in a set direction and bringing down a plane. Desmond pushed the button quicker than he did turn the key, so more energy = more of a fuckup down there.

that's how i see it anyway.

Morrigan May 30, 2006 07:31 PM

Almost every character is unlikable now. Even Locke, everyone's favourite, started to get annoying. Sayid used to be the coolest too, but he was a pompous jerk in his last flashback (and the whole affair with Shannon was vomit-inducing and completely unbelievable).

Eko's not bad, for a religious guy at least. He's like the only cool character left other than the Koreans and *maybe* Kate and Sawyer, and even those two were much better before. I disliked Sawyer's killing of the frog, it was just so completely gratuitous. I guess people liked him too much so they had to remind us that he was really a jerk?

Or the other way around-- he had to convince everyone else he wasn't a guy you should like. That's if we're supposed to understand that he hates the man he's become.

Eko started out as my favorite character of season two, and to some extent he still is, I just wish he would say more to everyone around him, or at least got a flashback for why he feels like he has to be so standoffish. I don't like his one-word responses when it's obvious he's a much more compelling character.

Yeah, Charlie does seem like he could use a stick-removal system for his ass. I mean, I saw him throwing the statues into the water, and I figured he'd hook up with Locke again, or at least call a truce between them, but he's just such a snotty little baby about the whole thing.

Jack and Kate were and are still cool in my book, but Eko, Locke and Hurley are the power players, I think, as far as being relatable to the audience. They are, for all intents and purposes, the good guys, without any glaring flaws. Eko used to be a bad guy, but they don't emphasize his drug-dealing past, and that's important in the overall scheme.

Yeah, I'll probably do this for the duration of Season 3, and maybe beyond that, until I get a life or something.

Complaining and making fun of stuff is always good fun, especially when that thing still has fans. It has to be one of my favorite things to do, and I won't lie.

Yeah I read that too! There's been like 10 spoilers from reliable sources that have turned out to be false. One of them is Alex (the girl who works with the Others but is always helpful) supposed to pretty much be one of the main characters. Another is Ana-Lucia finding an underwater hatch by following that cable, and then of course a bunch of characters getting brutally killed in the finale.

Also JJ Abrams (or was it Damon) saying this would be the best season finale of all time. Okay, even people who liked the finale don't think that. Why do they hype so hard.

Well, I will try not to get too psycho here, but actually I think what you do is pretty much okay. I mean, sure it's kind of inconsequent, but after all, I do prefer people who hate a show but actually watch it over people who don't even watch it and yet they say "omg it fukken suxx".

About Eko, uhh, I think he's a complete retard or something like that. I mean, HE FUKKEN WANTED TO BUILD A CHURCH ON THAT GODDAMN ISLAND, W...T....F

I find Claire and Charlie entirely inconsequential to anything and very boring characters entirely. Ending the stuff on the island with them felt like they were just TRYING to make people angry. I couldn't give a flying fuck if they ended up together or died. Focus more on the characters that aren't just annoying (which are few, sadly).

Musharraf May 31, 2006 07:04 AM

I seriously hate Claire. She is so fukken inconsequent with Charlie. I mean, hell, this man cheated on her, she should just ignore him but ehh, she haven't had sex in weeks, so maybe she is looking for someone to help her =^.^=

Thank god I am not insane.

Because let me tell you: that was not the best finale of all fucking time, are you kidding me. I hope very FEW people think so.

Nothing even really HAPPENED! Okay, so the Others got Kate, Sawyer and Jack. Let Hurley go. BIG FUCKING DEAL. If you want me to feel about that, you're going to have to convince me that The Others are more than a camp of hippies on the other side of the island. Maybe they all genetically have 4 toes or something.

There a four-toed statue on the island. That has potential, but as of right fucking now, I don't really care. They've lulled me into false hopes and red herrings too many times. I am just going to IGNORE the statue.

Also, Charlie and Claire got back together apparently. Claire is a whore and Charlie is a bipolar crackhead. They deserve each other. But like most everyone else, I really don't give a flying fuck is they live or die. As far as I am concerned, they offer nothing to the island and it's survivors but some WHINING, WHINGING, and ANNOYANCE. ;_;

To be honest, I'm also choosing to ignore the statue. Why?
Spoiler:
  • Huge smoke monster! Wait, where is it now?
  • Libby in the hospital! Wait, where's she now?
  • Libby in Desmond's flashback! (see above)
  • The list goes on, I'm sure...

Well, uhhh, she's in Desmond's flashback, obviously. How can you imply that the writers have forgotten about her, when she was in the very latest episode (as you yourself note it)?

Majin yami May 31, 2006 01:54 PM

Am I the only guy who finds the 'Monster' (security system foo's!) completely
a. Retarded
and
b. A pain in the ass?

Wall Feces May 31, 2006 02:01 PM

I find it to be a pain in the ass when they ignore it. Other than that, I'm completely fascinated by it like I am with the statue.
