I too loved the warthog run at the end of heylo 1! Heylo 2 boss battles were annoying, only thing i enjoyed was blowing up that giant walker thing near the begining.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jul 26, 2007 07:54 AM

Must have been just me that didn't like the end of H1 then. :(

Kilroy Jul 26, 2007 10:18 AM

No, I also thought it was gay. Better than Tartarus boss battle, though.

Probably a magazine release, actually. If memory serves correctly about how those classic 1 type assault rifles are loaded.

King of Games draws closer. 4 player online co-op has also been confirmed. Bungie and MS recently confirmed it at a press conference in Amsterdam.

Oh dear sweet Jesus, there is a God.

I was getting worried there for a bit. Bungie didn't fumble. I am shocked and impressed that they didn't totally fuck it up.

Man, I came BUCKETS. This is awesome.

If that picture is meant to be taken as an indication of the current warring factions, then i'm hoping its going to be much more complex then 'an enemy of my enemy is my friend' sort of deal. I really don't want to see the elites just pair up with the humans to take on the brutes and the flood. Maybe the rebel elites in H2 can remain independent?

evilboris Aug 4, 2007 04:07 PM

Well, we've seen Arbiter and Master Chief talking to each other (or at least, interacting) in one of the preview videos, so a kind of alliance wouldn't be farfetched - even if its just Arbiter and his company and Master Chief, trying to stop the Prophet from activating the rings.

Pokey Aug 4, 2007 04:34 PM

Yeah, but..3 elites? Why not just take out the rebel elite (I'm assuming it's a rebel from H2 since they look similar) and throw in...a UNSC Spec Ops? Another Spartan, if they're not all on some other galaxy?

I'm just imagining all the online pussy-fights that this is gonna cause from people not wanting to be the arbiter, or something.

No image was released to celebrate multiplayer Co-op being added, so I wouldnt read into it anymore than what we've seen in the E3 trailer.

You lost me. The image you just posted was an indication of 4 multiplayer co-op being added, as stated by Bungie's article here

I didn't notice the bios they had for players 3 and 4, but here they are:

Quote:

PLAYER 3 (Sangheili)

Name: N’tho ‘Sraom
Affiliation: Fleet of Retribution/Special Warfare Group/Special Operations
History: N’tho ‘Sraom is the youngest member of his Special Operations unit and is one of a growing number of human sympathizers amongst the Sangheili youth. He is a fairly typical young male adult Sangheili—he began compulsory military service at the end of adolescence, and remains unmarried with no close, non-familial relationships outside of his martial order. N’tho Sraom refused to stand idly by while the Prophets replaced Sangheili units with Jiralhanae packs, and now bears deep resentment toward those Sangheili politicians who landed his kind in their current predicament.

Although N’tho ‘Sraom’s romanticized nationalism is emblematic of all Sangheili, he has developed a healthy respect for humanity—not for their physical abilities or martial prowess, but for their audacity and resolve.

PLAYER 4 (Sangheili)

Name: Usze ‘Taham
Affiliation: Fleet of Retribution/Special Warfare Group/Fleet Security
History: Although Usze ‘Taham was born into a respected merchant family he was fathered by Toha ‘Sumai—one of the preeminent swordfighters of this age. Usze graduated with honors from the top War College in the Iruiru region of Yermo, Sanghelios (a distinction he shares with Rtas 'Vadum). Shortly after receiving his first post within the Covenant Navy he was offered a place on the Prophets’ Honor Guard but he declined citing “lack of practical experience”. In truth, he had no desire to be part of a largely ceremonial unit, and at the end of his third combat tour, Usze ‘Taham again refused the post—even though his superiors warned him such behavior could be misinterpreted as apostasy.

Since that time Usze has evaded countless punitive actions, at least two assassination attempts, and served with distinction for two additional tours before the Schism. Following the dissolution of the Covenant, he was approached by the Ascetics to become one of their liaisons within the Navy.
But then a recent article outlines this:

Quote:

The two new Elites, joining the Arbiter and Master Chief, both have real bios and appropriate fiction, but they will not be appearing in the cinematics and so on. They are designed to be believable and useful allies, without affecting the fictional arc in a negative way – and they do not appear in the game as AI controlled opponents during one or two player games.
I suppose I feel a little better knowing that players 3 and 4 are essentially just different skins and really have no bearing on the story. It would have been nice to have a human ally other then the Chief though.

Kilroy Aug 23, 2007 12:46 PM

How did you receive the Neill Blomkamp video? Can't remember, but there's a new one out thar. Complete with shaky cam and stuff, apparently straight from Leipzig or something: http://www.gamersyde.com/stream_4291_en.html
With CGI brutes, Banshees, Pelicans and Spiker rounds. Imagine that!

evilboris Aug 23, 2007 04:27 PM

The Halo Uprising comic is out now, its a Marvel Comics miniseries that ties up Halo 2 to Halo 3 - so far the one thing shown is that Master Chief gets the dents on his armor by
Spoiler:
being shot in the chest by 10 Hunters in a row
. Which seems overkill imo, as one shot can kill you in the game and I don't remember any spartan surviving a direct hit in the novels either.

Whoa, what? Is that Neill Blomkamp's handywork? Holy crap, color me very surprised. If they did the whole movie in this style, it might be some really special.

I do want to see a direct feed, tho.

Yeah, though looks pretty cool, especially when they dropped off the Warthog. How cool would it be to drive around in that thing.

Kilroy Aug 28, 2007 03:23 AM

They (whoever that is) say that a HD version will be up on Xbox Live tuesday, which I gather is today.
Also, I found this which has the correct colors: Official version of second Halo short released - Joystiq

Yes, but Hunters are about that much of a challenge in the books as well (which are canon). Heck, in Ghosts of Onyx, a shield-less Spartan got VAPORIZED from a point-blank Hunter shot. I've rechecked the page, and it has 6 Hunters, sweeping their Fuel-rod cannons for half a page - thats overkill no matter which canon you are looking at, game mechanics or books.

map car man words telling me to do things Aug 28, 2007 08:44 AM

The Spartans were fairly vulnerable in the books compared to Master Chief in the game, but I liked that added realism. That said, I don't expect comics to be completely consistent, but even 3 fuel-rod shots should mess up any character in the series really bad.

But then the previous graphic novel was hardly consistent. A Spartan doesn't just up and quit to start a family :(

Kilroy Aug 28, 2007 10:05 AM

I can't se why they would in the first place. Their urge to reproduce was shot to shit during their augmentation. Unless it's a clever experiment by ONI. Is a Spartan capable of reproducing and what is the effect on the offspring. Tiny Spartans? I'd like to see that!

Kilroy Aug 30, 2007 10:40 AM

I hate seeing this thread bumped down by fricking Super Smash Brothers, so I dug up* these hilarious korean promotion videos. They got the idea that if you freak out innocent bypassers, they're sure to buy Halo 3!

The second one has Master Chief fucking PUNCHING a dinosaur in the bloody face!
