Or, maybe it just doesn't work as a multiplayer weapon. I can imagine how incredibly annoying it would be to have someone through me in an infinite loop. |

But if it were co-op, it may be some what interesting. Valve could even create more complex puzzles that would require simultaneous portal usage from multiple users. |
Updated first post to include TF2 info, but heres a link for the trailer (made using Source engine ~)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsTB6N8RuxI Looks so rad. |
Here's hoping the level design lives up to the look of the game, too. I wonder if they'll still implement the spy being able to intercept radio transmissions from the other team. =o
|
I'm sure there will be that and THEN SOME.
|
It should be a good change of pace from all of these Halo-ish multiplayer games.
|
Surely I'm not the only one who thinks the TF2 visual style is highly reminiscent of The Incredibles... hey, I'm not complaining; they seem to make it work. Just for fun, I wonder if each class has a 'taunt' animation (the medic, I think, would adjust his gloves like you see in the montage while saying, "This may sting a little.")
|
The Incredible thing isn't anything bad though, is it? It fits the type of gameplay without looking overly dumb. But yeah, I actually like the idea of taunting. I think it would fit pretty well and add to the humour.
|
I actually get a sense of No One Lives Forever from the TF2 trailer.
Awesome, nonetheless. God, it's been so long since I played TFC. I miss it so. The only multiplayer FPS I ever really loved. |
Hahaha, just watched the TF2 trailer. This is either going to be awesome or the biggest disappointment I've had in a long time. But hey, out of Episode 2 proper, Portal and TF2, at least one of them is bound to be really fun, right? Beside, it's Valve, and I don't remember them ever disappointing me before. Then again they release games about as often as Blizzard does.
|
I just played the Narbacular Drop (I got it from here since their official site is well overloaded), which is like a prelude to Portal, and it's pretty confusing, but ultra-fun! I'm really excited! From what I can see in the Portal trailer, the concept is going to be taken even further than in Narb. Placing portals while flying about is pretty tough though, I don't know if I could do that successfully like the guy in the video does.
|
It can't be any more difficult than shooting a guy while jumping. You just don't have to be as accurate while placing a portal. Then again, you usually don't have to adjust to your surroundings, wondering how you're orientated and where you just shot out of, when you're jumping.
So who knows. |

Wow. I thought Portal was going to be a standalone release. Boy I couldn't be any more wrong. PLUS TF2...I can't wait.
|
the campy style of tf2 definitely screams nolf, it looks so much fun. i'm sure the gameplay will feel a lot like tfc. but oh so creamy looking :yum: (gay?) the depth of field and motion blur stuff is rendered in the source engine but will not be in game. they've been doing stuff like this for DoD:S trailers for a while now. maybe with dx10 source? crysis has it goin on...
oh and portal will totally trip us all out. i haven't been more excited for a first person game since... hl2. forget episode 2... :) |
Even more reason for me to buy a PS3. My computer could barely handle Ep.1 so I doubt I will buying anymore PC games.
Portal looks truly innovative. Can't wait. |
Half-Life 2: Episode 2 Extended Teaser (High Definition)
Look at the physics on that bridge! Amazing =D |
Yeah, that was probably the best part. Not saying the rest of lame, but the whole bridge thing looks really, really good.
|
Just noticed the thread title had been changed. But, as for TF2.... I don't expect a whole lot of good things from it. There were plans back around 1999-ish for this projects development. Though, it was cancelled for whatever reasons. WTG Valve, trying to impress us with your lateness. TF2 was then, they should be making something like TFS, Team Fortress Source.

There's Fortress Forever for that. Check them out, looks like an awesome job. |
Jesus that portal game looks awesome! The insane puzzles you can make with that...oh yeah.
Im truly impressed once again by valve and their sick engine. |
Oh darn, and here I had bothered to buy HL2:Ep1 in the stand alone package (Granted it came with DM and DM: Source, but still).
If they have Episode 2, Portal and TF2 in one package (Without Half-Life 2), then I'm sold. Portal I'm wanting the most to get right now. The inclusion of Gravity Gun physics on it (The Portal Device) makes it SUPERIOR to the GG. Then again, maybe I'll just buy them in a package on Steam :tpg: |
Anyone remember dustbowl in TFC? Wow, I spent so many hours playing that, instead of Counter Strike.
Is that clip just a trailer or actual game footage? I would really love to see how the in-game looks like. |
i don't like TF2. It's certainly different and will be fun. But following the realistic theme that hl2 and source have, take a look at Fortress Forever. TF2 really looks interesting though. I imagine the gameplay will be a bit awkward without more real looking characters walking around.
|
Okay Portal is fucking awesome and TF2 looks like fun. I hope it oozes of humor. =)
Does anyone know when this bundle comes out? =o |
