I don't think a lot of people would be going crazy over a game based on a movie.
Lack of Blast Processing is a slight problem but this looks to be good, looking forward to it!

Uh. I think I missed something here.

Since when was Contact based off Contact the movie?

Infernal Monkey Sep 4, 2006 04:46 AM

Since the last post on the first page it would seem! *Cancels pre-order*

guyinrubbersuit Sep 6, 2006 02:21 AM

Since someone failed to detect humor.

FatsDomino Sep 6, 2006 03:08 AM

Haha she found her dad! Hilarious! How many hours did I waste? ='D

Morridor Oct 15, 2006 06:13 PM

Who's planning on buying Contact?

I was looking at Atlus' official website for it and it just looks so amazing. I really want it especially because it reminds me so much of Earthbound from the SNES. The professor looks the same in both games actually. It has wifi capabilities so you can trade characters in the game and get special items from it. I know I'm not doing it justice by talking about it right here, but it really looks like an amazing game. Is anyone else looking forward to it or going to get it?

What do you think about it?

Danny

I'm taking that this is for the NDS, am I right?

This may probably be one of the first few RPGs I'll pick up for my DS for some RPG gameplay, along with FFIII and perhaps FFXII: RW whenever that comes around to NA. Yes, the wifi trading capabilities also interest me.

Rockgamer Oct 15, 2006 06:48 PM

There's already a Contact thread. I'm sure this would be a better place to ask this question.

That is all.

Morridor Oct 15, 2006 06:52 PM

Yeah, but it was so old and I thought a new thread would be good since it's going to be released in a few days! How about we also include who has pre-ordered the game in this thread?

Who's pre-ordered? What are the features that you are looking forward to the most?

Danny

Rockgamer Oct 15, 2006 06:54 PM

Eh, it was only a little over a month old, and I'm sure someone would have bumped it when it came out.

Rydia Oct 16, 2006 07:06 PM

I'll just go ahead and merge this with the existing thread. It just makes things easier that way. :)

Sin Ansem Oct 20, 2006 12:48 PM

OUR THE Contact is out in stores today.

But one thing I'm wondering is if there's a soundtrack out... the Japanese release was how many months ago?

I'm getting the game Saturday, maybe I'll talk more about it then.

majario Oct 20, 2006 06:33 PM

I went to EB Games to pick this up and he told me that there was a delay and that they would be getting either tomorrow or Monday. This sucks b/c I was really looking forward to start the ripping process for the music if there is not an actual soundtrack for this. In a way though, I'm glad that there was a delay cause after he showed me how much I still owe for the Wii and the accessories it made me think that I have to really start picking and choosing which games I want to buy. Money is tight nowadays....:(

nazpyro Oct 21, 2006 02:44 AM

I was gonna go pick this game up on my way back from work, but luckily I called ahead to check stock. They didn't have it yet either. :/ And weird that Best Buy's date for the game release is the 24th. Guess I'll just grab this next week then.

Elixir Oct 21, 2006 04:38 AM

I've played the american version for about an hour. It's pretty good.

For some reason Nintendo Power gave it a 6.5. But it's an Atlus game so I don't know what they're doing.

Infernal Monkey Oct 21, 2006 05:06 AM

Maybe because if they gave it a good score, people would go out and try and buy it. Atlus wouldn't be able to handle that! That's why they'll only print four copies of the game, and drop three and a half of them down a toilet accidently.

Spoiler:
Or maybe because it's not a first party game so there's no way it can be as good as say, 10/10 Mario Party 18: Revenge of Mario Party.

Let's be honest, that don't mean SHIT anymore. They have had some rather....questionable titles released recently.

A few recent mediocre titles (Metal Saga, Rule of Rose and Deep Labyrinth?) doesn't mean they're going down hill. They're not known for releasing crap constantly like THQ or 505 GameStreet.

They've just released Summon Night 2 as well as Contact, Touch Detective's coming as well as Trauma Center for the Wii. Then there's Persona 3 whenever the fuck that gets published but I have no idea when that'll take place. They're doing pretty well I say.

This game plays like a MMORPG and is capable of wifi. I just wish I could've gotten wifi working to check this out, it sounds really interesting.

Sin Ansem Oct 21, 2006 03:31 PM

Don't bother trying to get it from Gamestop.

They sold out TWO DAYS EARLY, nullifying my preorder. Ass monkeys.

Taco Oct 21, 2006 03:39 PM

Yeah, they sold out yesterday, I checked their little online thing today.

0 copies, no more on the way. :(

I heard the Wi-Fi wasn't that great, like you couldn't actually play the game with anyone. I think I heard that all you could do was put a digital representation of yourself onto someone else's game, which seems pretty boring if it's true. But it's not like I was planning to get this game for the Wi-Fi anyway, so it's not that big a deal.

And Steambot Chronicles, and that DS Snowboard Kids game, and so on. All I'm saying is that recently, they haven't been up to par with their old selves. I'm not saying the only release crap anymore.

Elixir Oct 22, 2006 02:30 PM

This still doesn't explain why it's getting a score of 6.5 from Nintendo.

It's a good game. Something like 7.5 would be understandable, but yeah. Good thing I don't base my views around reviews like others.

Sin Ansem Oct 22, 2006 05:13 PM

What online source do you recommend I buy this game? Seeing as I'm semi-stranded on campus and never trusting Gamestop again.

Elixir Oct 23, 2006 01:59 AM

Ebay.

(Unless there's an american store which does free shipping.)
