Oh in that case I dont mind. I have some friends who experience like you, my female friends spend 3 years in england after she graduated from primary school, resultin' she almost lost her ability to speak indonesian, though she speaks at it much better now, she is horrible when writing on her suppose-to-be native language (I only could assume english has become her native language by now) :)
similarly, I have two cousins who just returned from america, and I have troubled times when speaking to them in telephone. |

So anyway, English is the secondary language of the Philippines. And for that, the Philippines is considered the best English-speaking (in terms of pronounciation) country in South-East Asia. Although that does not mean that most Filipinos can speak proper or perfect english. For example, here in my province (Cebu, Philippines), although many can write gramatically correct english, most have difficulty pronouncing it right. For example, "soft", "soup", and "soap", are all pronounced as "soop" by the common dude. Usually college-level/graduate people can speak almost-perfect english, but you can still notice the accent. Unless you work at a call center, then that's the time one can speak a neutral american accent. |
Here, amongst our English phrases, we tend to use a lot of french words (most out of context) in our banter. Also, because of SOMEONE taking Japanese class, several basic Japanese phrases are now often incorperated into our louge.
