I haven't rented a game since I was a kid with no job. Now, I just make a judgement call and buy. I haven't had any buyers remorse, ever.

For God's sake. Unless you have a valid excuse (I'm poor, they don't release whatever games in my region, etc), there is no reason to be a flaming cockwad this much.

Oh well, I'm getting off my high horse.

I buy anything I'm remotely interested in at first glace. I only rent if I can't find something for sale around here (Wild Arms Alter Code F) or I honestly can't tell how much I'd enjoy it beforehand. (Ridge Racer 6). Most of the time I just flat out purchase it.

To all the Canadians: Renting for shitbuster is a complete waste now that GameAccess is around. It's basically Canadian Gamefly and it's fucking superb.

Last game I rented was Alien Hominid for my 'Cube. It was definately purely a renter, and after that, I was all buying on a whim

I've never rented a game before. I either look at the reviews for a game I'm interested in or just purchase one that I REALLY want out of hype. If I know I'll probably end up disliking a game but want to try it anyway, I tend to purchase a preowned copy so I can get a full refund back within a week.

I don't think I've purchased a game because of hype alone, but I tend to get games immediately if they're part of a series I've been following for a while or if there's a new RPG I'm curious about. The games I previously rented were typically sports or adventure games.

I stopped renting when I got Banjo Kazooie for N64. Rented it, almost beat it, then bought it. I dunno why, but this very day, I lost my member card, and never mind to get a new one. But I also got my job, so I had more money from there than cutting grass. I don't even rent DVDs neither. I buy everything on-the-fly. But I'm never disappointed. Except for Grandia III. I should have waited and borrowed it from a friend.

I have a serious backlog of games, don't even want to know, but it's somewhere around 30-40 and that's not even counting ROMs that I am dead-serious about playing all the way through at some point. For me there's no point in renting... when I've got games I haven't played yet sitting in my collection...

ComCrimson Jun 14, 2006 12:09 PM

I have never rented a game and i don't intend to. I don't see the point. All my friends do it but seriously, why? Just buy the damn game instead of wasting money on renting it just to go and buy it after you think 'Holy wow! That kicked ass, i must own it!' If you're not 100% about buying a game, then don't. Wait for it to come down in price or something. I waited for Drakengard to come down to £5 before i bought it.

When you're poor but still a gamer whore, it's the only available option.

I just read reviews about the game and if I like what I'm seeing I'll buy the game, I don't have to rent the game because now games at Hollywood Video, if you wanted to rent one cost $6.99 for one game.

Seriously, why the hell would anyone want to waste $50-$60 on a new game when you can rent it for as long as you want for $10 off of the Internet? I can understand if it's part of a gaming franchise like FF or MGS or if it was a multiplayer game, but with the option to have any game you want for as long as you want then buying them is a big waste of money. Btw, no one cares whats in your collection but you.

huh.... at least, I can play whenever I want, I don't need to rent it again when suddenly I want to continue my game. or even start a new one.
