I always shave my 'stache. Makes my lips come out more (heard from various chick that my lips are very nice) + I don't like having a 'stache. It looks stupid. I usually let my beard grow a week, then shave it off, but not completly. Like this guy.

Rydia Jun 8, 2006 05:01 PM

People I knew who suddenly decided to grow their facial hair seemed to look much older. I generally don't mind facial hair on some people, but I sometimes think that there are others who naturally look more attractive without it.

so guys

I prefer to have a nice smooth face though that's usually not the case. I'll go from clean shaven to like the pic on the left in around 3 days; something I don't like ;(

I could shave ever day but that would just make my facial hair grow even faster which I don't want.

I grew my first goatee/mustache a few months ago, and I'm still unsure whether the annoyance outweighs the benefits. On the plus side, I've gotten lots of comments about how it makes me look older, more distinguished, etc., and it hides my double chin. My facial hair grows fast and thick (I have perpetual 5 o'clock shadow, it seems), so it's nice not having to shave very much.

The downside is that it kind of itches, the mustache is so thick it tickles my nose, and I always feel like the hair around my mouth is dirty after eating. I'll stick with it for a bit, just because I think I look much better than I do clean shaven, but I'm not sure if I can get used to it in the long-term. Being able to stroke my beard like an evil genius is a definite plus.

Domino Jun 8, 2006 07:01 PM

I sometimes go for a week at a time without having a shave. It kinda starts to itch me by that time.
I don't like having a beard/ moutache, but i'm just too goddamn lazy to shave sometimes.

Blanka Jun 8, 2006 07:24 PM

I don't mind facial hair on guys. =)

I think it looks pretty awesome honestly... I like the Beatles style. :P

I suggest you shave as well. If you grow a beard or something, you are slightly at a risk of getting rejected by people who don't like them. Again, it really depends on the area you're staying. At where I'm staying, I think girls generally don't like guys who aren't clean shaven. They seem to have this idea that we are just plain lazy. Though they like guys who have the potential to grow beards but they shave (as in you can see that the guys have hairs growing around their chin but they shave it off) and I know of girls who find that notoriously sexy. I think they might have been influenced by the likes of Tom Cruise or something. Again, it's entirely up to your choice but I think it's one less hassle if you don't have a beard. It's quite restrictive.

I like facial hair on men--when it's well-kept.

All these people who are saying that it shows a guy is lazy if he grows a beard or mustache obviously have never seen a man with a well-trimmed mustache and beard before.

Keeping facial hair neat and trimmed DOES take effort, so they wouldn't be lazy--now would they?

Not the case with me. I actually prefer girls with short hair(mainly shoulder length) to those that have it reaching their lower backside.

I hate facial hair, especially on the upper lip.

eriol33 Jun 10, 2006 02:00 PM

beard? Like Ahmedinejad's? Not for now I guess. I might consider getting one in future though. You know, Walt Disney grew one since he considered his face was too "innocent" to enter business world.

I keep a mustache and goatee pretty much constantly as they hide the fact that I'm incredibly baby faced and am somewhat lacking in chin as well. I appear to drop about 6 years if it's gone so I'll maybe once every year shave it all off to remind myself why I don't shave.

Really though if women think facial hair makes a man lazy they need to be more specific as well kempt facial hair is a lot more effort than just shaving daily.

Kazyl Jun 10, 2006 03:38 PM

I can't grow a beard, like, at all. It's limited to three specific areas:

-between the bottom of my nose and above my upper lip
-small patch directly beneath my lower lip
-on my chin not exceeding beyond the length of my mouth

I like stubble for me. I look awkward without my stash but I don't like having it too long (well, as long as it can get which isn't really long).

Gumby Jun 11, 2006 08:30 AM

The Navy doesn't really care for anything outside of a well trimmed mustache. Since I don't really care for the way it looks on me, I am well shaven most of the time. I generally don't let it grow out more than a day or two.

My only problem with letting it grow out is that I have techno colored facial hair ranging from almost colorless blond hair to red that is so dark it almost looks like black. So only the dark red stuff on my chin can you actually see if I haven’t shaved. The rest of it is too light. Besides it looks funny when the hair under my bottom lip is a completely different color than the rest of my chin.

So I have a rather large beard. It started out as more as a chinstrap, but around January I just basically stopped shaving. I have no reason to be particularly concerned about attracting females (as I wouldn't be either way, nor do I really care anyhow), and it serves more as a point of conversation for random people as well (as I am a cashier). I've gotten as much Amish/HAYJESUSLOL comments as I have had random people go like "woah, that is a legendary beard".

I have heard many people complain (mostly older guys who confide in me thier inability to grow said beard) that they couldn't stand the itching while growing the beard. I honestly can't remember if that ever happened to me (I have atrocious memory). Someone once told me the big beard works for me cause I'm a big guy. Well, it doesn't really matter to me one way or the other. I just wish I could grow a better stache or something.

Gumby Jun 11, 2006 09:59 AM

I'd say it would look better without the mustashe...

Kostaki Jun 11, 2006 10:36 AM

I have facial hair myself, and I keep it as well groomed as possible. Whether or not the opposite sex finds it "attractive" it's there to stay, as it is part of who I am. It's a full grown beard, much like my current avatar except there's clearly a moustache.

I see no reason to cave into social preference or standard for how I should look.

Void Jun 11, 2006 01:41 PM

I used to shave every other day, which kept it at a smooth clean-cut look forever.

But I once didn't shave for a full month, and I trimmed it. It looked very nice, I liked it a lot. I shaved it all last Sunday for this 50th anniversary thing at my school, and I hated how I looked shaved. SO I'm growing it out again.

I had a goatee before, well like just hair on my chin-region. I didn't like it much, it made my lower lip too huge... but everyoen said they loved it, so idk.

Right now, it's nice stubble which is only visible close. I'm just going to wing it and not shave for a while an dsee how it turns out... though i need a good look for Prom in like a week.

Only thing I hate is my upper lip. Because it looks HORRIBLE and mexican-sanchez with the stubble. i HATE that, so i always shave my mustache and it looks even worse. i really want the edward norton goatee but i can't grow hair connecting my chin hair [beard] to my upper lip hair [mustache]

wvlfpvp Jun 11, 2006 02:47 PM

Facial hair==manlyman. == melike.

I've got a nice goatee going. It's a bit bushy around my chin (hence, my chin looks HUGE) but it looks good.

Belladonna Jun 15, 2006 10:18 PM

I HATE mustaches and beards. Ugh, they look so nasty. Goatees are the hottest ever. They aren't all ugly and everywhere on the guys' face. They aren't bothersome and the guy looks well groomed. Well, not the goatees that actually hang off the chin. I mean the nice ones that are close shaved. Beards make a guy look like a slob <_<

Arkhangelsk Jun 16, 2006 05:52 AM

I've never been a fan of facial hair (or really, any large amounts of bodily hair) on men. The whole Tom-Selleck-chest-and-face-hair sexy image of the just really turns me off. I think it's partially a culture thing, since my mom grew up in the late 60s-70s when hairy men were the hot thing, and she still holds that image as 'most attractive/masculine.'

Oddly enough, I get livid when my dad threatens to shave his beard/moustache. Mostly because I'm used to him with it, and he looks stupid without it to me. If I meet a guy with facial hair, and then he later shaves it, then I prefer him with. So it might just be up to what I'm familiar/comfortable with. It does age guys, though. I know 19 year olds that look like they're in their 20s or older.

Evangelitan Jun 20, 2006 01:18 PM

I cant stand facial hair myself. I keep my chops grown out, but anything other than that just irritates the hell out of me. Sooner or later I'm gonna grow out a stylin "Geraldo Rivera" stache, just to look like my wow character.

Immortal Jun 20, 2006 02:28 PM

Sideburns are the essence of awesome, why lie?

Seriously though, I'm just a scatterbrained person and forget to shave for a few days at a time. I have grown accustomed to having a bit of scruff, and even feel naked without it. Besides, I have a babyface without a bit of hair there :(

Dark Nation Jun 20, 2006 03:12 PM

I don't like Mustaches, but I got a stubble thing going right now, might turn into a gotee or a *gasp* beard eventually.

And like Immortal, I sometimes just forget to shave *shrug* I also have naturally hairy legs, but that's another story.
