Thanks. In addition to spending WAY too much time around computers (I'm a Computer Science major who works at a Programming Job and even spends a bit of his spare time on the things), I've learned to love ergonomic keyboards. In my opinion they give me a bit of a speed boost in addition to the obvious comfort benefits.

Just for kicks, I'll take the test on my laptop (I hate laptops, and my typing slows considerably on them). I'm only going to take the 1 minute test because I dislike laptop typing.

......I'm posting a screenshot of this one because even I don't believe it.

Took it again, and improved a bunch, for some reason.

I shouldn't have taken this test that much to get the best possible result, since my typing skills steadily lowered. During the first tries, I hovered around 130 - 140 WPS and now I'm not even able to write "hoch" correctly anymore. So I just have to beat Arainach's result, I guess. If you can have a muscle ache in your fingers, I probably have this right now.

Better than nothing, although 13 mistakes are pretty ridiculous. I hate this part when those characters suddenly start to talk with each other, since my fingers always flounder while typing with such a high speed, when it comes to "..?" and stuff like that.

And yet nobody believes me that I'm normally able to write faster and without that much mistakes. :(

Sarag May 27, 2006 05:28 AM

97 wpm.

Honestly I'm shocked. I thought I was burning through all sorts of time correcting myself. I couldn't HELP it. easier to just do it then push myself not to.

Also, the first time around I made a space where there shouldn't have been, and every word past that was dinged as wrong even though they were typed just fine. Wtf, guys.

Ahaha, check out the top 100. The highest is 160 wpm, that's insanity.

Dr. Uzuki May 27, 2006 05:45 AM

Let's just say I'm not becoming a courtroom stenographer any time soon 46 wpm.

Krelian May 27, 2006 06:57 AM

70 WPM on my mother's laptop. It's one of those Vaios with the pathetically tiny keyboards.

Tried it on my laptop a few days ago and got 106.

Caracteres por minuto. =)

Hey man slow down.

Test name: The Wonderful Wizard of OZ
Gross speed: 54 WPM
Errors: 9 words
Net Speed: 51 WPM
Accuracy: 94%

BlueMikey May 27, 2006 09:41 PM

Ugh, I remember hating this particular test.

103 wpm, 2 errors, net 101 wpm, 98% accuracy.

I always disliked this one because they use text which are littered with punctuation issues and because of the not being able to backspace an already finished word.

Cobra Commander May 27, 2006 09:48 PM

Actually I recently took an offical typing test for a certificate of typing

Man you guys are really fast, I got

43WPM with 1 error which means 2 wrong for the test

so 41 WPM

siyeclover May 28, 2006 03:11 AM

Looks I'm not the slowest one.

Notice the sharp drop in accuracy. :tpg:

I'm still outraged over the absence of commas before "and" in the lists. Yargh!

Generally in articles, people don't write ",and". However, it's still fine to use the comma. I remember my journalism elective teacher took 2 friggin' points off everytime I had a list.

In what sentence was that? It's not always required to use a comme before ''and''.

Spatula May 28, 2006 01:59 PM

Meh it's okay, but I normally don't type this fast. Usually about 60 WPM is my "nominal speed":
