I also have this problem :(

Can you show me a screen shot of the "Compression options" -> "External compression" menu?

I just cannot figure out wtf this link is talking about. There is no first download link. There is no download link, period, and the LAME site doesn't offer a compile.

Could somebody help explain to me what I'm missing here?

Slogra Nov 20, 2006 03:00 PM

Looks like you're redirected from lame compiles to the normal lame wiki page. I guess they removed the lame compiles page :/

Go to rarewares.org if you want to download compiles (make sure you download releases, not alpha versions).

You need to scroll down a little bit until you see...

Download the latest LAME from these links:

RareWares MP3 Page - Compiles for Win32, Mac OS X universal binary, Solaris, BSD, HP-UX, Linux etc.
LAME source code on SourceForge
You then need to click the RareWares link on that wiki page.

LOL, why thank you for changing that last question there, makes the guide so much better. :p

By the way, I would replace the link you give to Sourceforge.net for the LAME encoder... that's just a tarball that only folks who use Linux will have any use for. I'd link either to http://rarewares.org/mp3.html the Rarewares MP3 page or directly to http://rarewares.org/dancer/dancer.php?f=109 the LAME 3.97 Bundle itself.

And note that the latest version of Winamp includes its own FLAC decoding plugin with full media library integration so you no longer need to put in a plugin yourself!

First link under the External Links header.

Hey Darko. Mind if I take over the thread again? I had a subscription to it, before the GFF boards died this year. The only reason I'd neglected to maintain it was because I didn't realize it had vanished. ^^

Plus I have a slight bit of revamping in mind.

Bloggs Nov 28, 2006 08:30 AM

Welcome back Moguta. Sure you can buddy, would you like me to edit my first post with your revamped idea or do you want to create a new thread?

Timberwolf Nov 29, 2006 05:27 PM

Welcome back Moguta!

Moguta Nov 29, 2006 10:17 PM

Hey, thanks guys. ^_^

Bah, I'd like to create my own thread, because I'm a constant revisionist and all. But I just tried, and it seems I don't have enough posts to use the URL tag... >.<
Do you know when that restriction is lifted?

Perhaps the solution is to go spam the Sewers. :p

ArrowHead Dec 2, 2006 04:17 PM

Sewers still exist? Haven't been showing up for me for ages........

It might be 15/20 posts, but I'm not sure, as a real answer was never given regarding that.

Chances are you were banned from the Sewers. I don't know why, but it's not my business anyhow.

Welcome back, Moguta. =D

Moguta Dec 3, 2006 12:42 PM

Thank you, and good to see you again Merv... Cheesecake? :eyebrow: Where's the :cow:?

And about not seeing The Sewers, perhaps they could be enforcing an age limit for it to be viewable, too?

Double Post:
Okay, I finally am able to post it! Someone get the sticky gun!

There's an age limit just for being a part of the forums (nobody younger than 13).

Great guide, mate. However,

Those two smilies don't exist anymore. :(

Moguta Dec 4, 2006 11:27 PM

Yeah, but those two similes still exist at Slightlydark and heck if I'm keeping two different versions of the guide just for that. :p
Where are the sticky/unsticky police, though? =x

Bloggs Dec 5, 2006 11:00 AM

Closing this thread. You can find the new & improved guide here: http://www.gamingforce.com/forums/be...lity-mp3s.html

Drex Dec 18, 2006 12:20 AM

Thanks for keeping up on this for us! Un-stickying thread.
