I'm on the other list but I really like being on lists so put me on this one too please.

Complete nub cadet here, signing up for basic training.

Oh hey, sign me up too.

Well, i think that's about all of the people we're going to get, so those who want to play from level 1 should say so specifically. You should also say whether you want me to make a character for you or if want to do it yourself. Making your own character is quite easy, and all of the books you could possibly want. You can feel free to read them all and know everything, or just figure it out as you go. Looking at some of the finished adventures can be helpful as well, if just for getting a feel for how the game flows.

If you do want me to make your character, give me a vague idea of what you want, and i'll set you up. This game won't be starting up for a while, as the castle you're to be invading / investigating / looting only has one empty entrance hallway thus far, but character set-up is going to take some time anyway.

NOTE: THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU CANNOT STILL SIGN UP.

I'll play from level one, but if someone who is new to D&D wants to play go ahead and bump me back. I'd rather get some new blood, but I'm happy to fill out the ranks.

Dark Nation Oct 14, 2010 01:07 AM

I'll start out at level 1 as well. As for my type of character, wouldn't it somewhat depend on the setting? ...Was that mentioned somewhere already? :erm:

I kinda know a little about D&D from various sources but I think I'd like to start out blind, get the fresh experience of going into the unknown, or something like that.

Zergrinch Oct 14, 2010 01:38 AM

Hawk, so that you don't get overwhelmed, consider running one of the published modules. Keep on the Shadowfell will work, and it's even got five pre-made characters ready to go.

Or Adventure Paths. Scales of War is finished. Chaos Scar ongoing, if I recall correctly.

Or do the Dungeon Delve. Just make sure you change the final boss, since Pang used him already in Dungeon of Doom.

Scent of a Grundle Oct 14, 2010 02:12 AM

I'm thinking i might do the Keep. It's a longer adventure, but that's probably the best way to go to make sure everything is covered (leveling up, etc.)

The unmovable stubborn Oct 14, 2010 02:15 AM

KotS is... SERVICEABLE, that's the best I can say for it. Yeah it covers everything but it's the very first 4E product, printed even before the PHB, and it really really shows. If you decide to go with that be ready to gloss over some truly ridiculous moments.

I did?

Zergrinch Oct 14, 2010 03:22 AM

Yep, that dragon which was unable to kill Argumentus though not for lack of trying...

Edit: Okay, so I don't know my white dragon wyrmlings from the black dragon ones :(

I'd also be willing to start out at level 1, seeing that the whole adventuring part of the game I haven't really had a chance to experiment with in the arena.

At the moment I'm just interested in being on a reserve list, somewhere out there. It doesn't bother me if I wind up in one group or the other. The way I figure it, this guild system should work better either way with my work schedule. =)

Or you personally hate me :(

At least for me, it was a little intimidating when I jumped into an existing group with an existing DM and very little knowledge of how the game was played. There's a worry there that you'll end up stepping on toes, but as easygoing as the adventures have been so far, my advice to the newcomers is not to worry about it too much. 4e is pretty easy to figure out once you find the handlebars.

Stop Sign Oct 14, 2010 11:17 PM

Level 1's fine with me.

Scent of a Grundle Oct 14, 2010 11:55 PM

So thus far we have 3 people plus Deni if we need him. You three need to tell me whether you want me to build your character for you or if you want to jump in and try doing it yourself. I'd like another person to bring the group up to 5, but if this is what we've got then we can work with it.

Zergrinch Oct 15, 2010 01:06 AM

Eh? I'm counting over a dozen interested. If no one else steps up, I'll be happy to play any role that the existing party needs. It shouldn't take too long for me to make a level 1 dude.

i am good at jokes Oct 15, 2010 01:07 AM

I'd like to roll my own character if your ok with that. I'm looking at the Avenger class as it has piqued my interest. I should be able to roll it up over the weekend. Also, it seems that this would make me a striker.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Oct 15, 2010 01:23 AM

He means folks specifically asking for his training seminar, Zerg.

I know Philia specifically wanted that too, Hawk, so be sure to double check with her.

A Githzerai Avenger sounds like it could be interesting, so that will be it.

Turbo Oct 15, 2010 09:31 AM

I'm still interested. As for characters, I'm more or less a DnD virgin. Sure I overhear conversations about it but nothing in detail. At least nothing I understand.

No. Hard Pass. Oct 15, 2010 11:35 AM

I can roll my own, just let me know if you need me.

Scent of a Grundle Oct 15, 2010 02:27 PM

I forgot to mention - all of the books one might need to pick out a character are in Pang's main thread here. Use the Player's Handbook. You can read them as much or as little as you want, though i would advise at least glancing at the combat rules section, as that's probably the most complex part of the game.

i am good at jokes Oct 15, 2010 04:11 PM

Here he is folks, Daituk Orjerbs, Githzerai Avenger extraordinaire!
