So... have you ditched our earlier names/races/classes in case we've changed our mind since we signed up?

Because I haven't.

The unmovable stubborn Mar 27, 2010 03:05 PM

I remember somebody asking if they were required to keep their early selection, and I said no, but that indicates to me that there's a perception there that writing it down somehow makes it permanent. So I decided not to write it down anymore.

Are you sure you don't want to be a psychic plant

wvlfpvp Mar 27, 2010 03:09 PM

Very sure, but then I'm less about rules-lawyering and more about "How much fun can I have roleplaying the character idea that I have"

No. Hard Pass. Mar 27, 2010 03:20 PM

Please explain to me in what universe playing a psychic plant wouldn't be fucking awesome?

wvlfpvp Mar 27, 2010 03:22 PM

In the one where I can play as a guy who can turn into water (among other things).

Who has issues.

No. Hard Pass. Mar 27, 2010 03:25 PM

Yours sounds whiny and gay.

The plant sounds metal.

wvlfpvp Mar 27, 2010 03:31 PM

He becomes metal when he's made out of FIRE.

Oh, and I don't mean "she dumped me" issues. I mean more along the lines of "I like to kill things a bit TOO much" issues.

No. Hard Pass. Mar 27, 2010 03:32 PM

Whiny, crying emo kids still suck. And teasing me by immolating without dying just makes it worse.

wvlfpvp Mar 27, 2010 03:35 PM

QUESTION:
Pang, if I was using the watersoul genasi racial ability to move through a square occupied by an enemy, and someone cast a lightning spell on me while I was doing the movement... would that work? Would that hurt me as well as the enemy I was moving through, or just one or the other?

No. Hard Pass. Mar 27, 2010 03:39 PM

You can't be attacked by a spell during a movement phase. It's turn based, remember? So you'd move, get to the end of your movement (especially considering there's no AoO on flowing movement or whatever it's called), and then you'd have lightning cast on you.

wvlfpvp Mar 27, 2010 03:47 PM

Ah, but it's turn-based representing a bunch of things happening at the same time. At least, that's how it seems in Pang's posts.

The unmovable stubborn Mar 27, 2010 03:54 PM

That's not necessarily true, Deni. Attacks that act as interrupts aren't common, but they do exist.

Whether an attack hurts just you or hurts everyone in the square depends entirely on what kind of attack it is. If the spell targets you, the dude whose square you're sharing is probably safe. If the spell has an area effect that happens to include you both, obviously you're both getting electrocuted.

And yes, it's kind of what's called turn-based simultaneous: a round occurs over six seconds, and during those six seconds everyone acts at roughly the same time. Initiative just effects whether you're moving a fraction of a second faster than the next guy.

If we take the current battle as an example: while Gordok is feeling up that pillar, the Manglers are already stabbing the horse, and Cal is already pulling back his bowstring to punish them for it. The round begins when the fastest combatant begins to act, and ends when the slowest combatant finishes acting — but, thematically, they're only taking "turns" for the sake of playability.

oh god nerding out so much but it's really all quite cinematic :(

wvlfpvp Mar 27, 2010 05:43 PM

So no liquid lightning without multi-manifestation feats/paragons.

No. Hard Pass. Mar 27, 2010 05:51 PM

Okay, well yeah, interrupts. But I don't think that's what wvlf was asking about. He wanted to know if he could fly at someone and have a wizard cast lit 3 on him.

The unmovable stubborn Mar 27, 2010 06:08 PM

Oh. Well, despite the implications Swiftcurrent doesn't actually turn you into water, so no. :(

wvlfpvp Mar 27, 2010 06:09 PM

Well yes, there is that. I wanted to pull a Bioshock "Electro Bolt in the water" thing.

Plus last I heard GFWiki was bugging out and essentially not working right at all.

Blah hasn't exactly effected a full template change yet, but have at it. (Fully editable, just doesn't have the GFWiki template yet)

The module is surely bigger than just the duergar castle, as you've hinted there was a dragon there. So, I'd say we're at par!

Sure, there are areas G-Unit didn't explore, but the game on SA just this week reached roughly the same point you guys did.

Zergrinch Mar 27, 2010 09:45 PM

The hell? Link me pliss.

You dropped three other locations: the City of Brass, the Tower of Mysteries, and the Well of Demons. You mean to say they're all hung up at the Horned Hold?

There is when you aren't playing it for Comedy there, Bob.

Regarding double move actions.

Do they combine or are they treated as two different moves during the same period?

If I double move, can I shift 2 squares at the same time, thus allowing a single shift in the water, or are they essentially two separate single shifts, both of which are nullified by the briny H20?

The unmovable stubborn Mar 28, 2010 03:02 PM

Yeah, a Double Shift would allow you to shift into difficult terrain.

Secondly, this:

Any time during the encounter I can breathe fire as a what? Standard? Minor? Drinking is a minor, and I can essentially store this action and use it under what parameters?
