My guess here is that it's from the opening of Kimi Ni Todoke ;)

Guess that Anime OP/ED Melody #006
Here is the first hint for slayer25k's song. Hint #1 (introduction) :: Get the Flash Player to play this audio file: I'm going follow Sakabadger's advice and try two hints a day for a bit and see if that gets more people involved. This one is sort of obscure as well and I'm not sure anyone will get it from these first two hints. Hint #2 (more of melody) :: Get the Flash Player to play this audio file: Still no guesses so here is the melody mixed with a karaoke track. Hint #3 (combined with karaoke track) :: Get the Flash Player to play this audio file: As a final hint, here are the lyrics to this song excerpt. Hint #4 (lyrics) :: Spoiler:
zzeroparticle got it correct! Those lyrics did sort of give it away, maybe I should have censored those last three words. Solution :: Spoiler:

That's certainly manzo from what I can tell, and the lyrics practically mentions the show's title, so: Tentai Senshi Sunred. =P

Sorry for the delay, I have been out shopping all day and just got around to this. Hint #1 (introduction) :: Get the Flash Player to play this audio file: Sakabadger got it correct! Here are the remaining hints though. I really enjoyed this song, I wish it had an official karaoke track so I could sing it. ^^ Hint #2 (more of melody) :: Get the Flash Player to play this audio file: Hint #3 (combined with makeshift karaoke track) :: Get the Flash Player to play this audio file: Hint #4 (lyrics) :: Spoiler:

That's Allegro Cantabile from Nodame Cantabile, for sure.
I'm fairly sure I'm correct, so as for the next song... you said you had a transcription done and ready, so why not go ahead and use that? |

This one should be a fairly easy so please hold off on guessing if you recently guessed one correctly to see if someone new can get it. Note :: Be sure to keep checking back regularly as I will post updates in this post instead of creating a new post for each hint. Unfortunately this will probably have to be the last melody I do. Although it was a short-lived event I had fun and I hope the few members who participated enjoyed it as well. Thanks to everyone who participated or even just listened to my (most likely error prone) transcriptions. Short-lived, but expected. It was fun while it lasted. Thanks for the effort! Perhaps someone else will decide to keep this going by chopping up bits of the actual music tracks. |
Originally I thought I would only be doing these maybe once or twice a week, however even with the few playing it ended up being almost one a day. At 30 minutes to an hour a piece it starts adding up and I started neglecting things like piano and singing practice to create these little recordings. I was also sort of hoping / expecting more people would get interested but that never seemed to happen.
I zipped up all the files in the rare case someone actually wants to listen to any of these. I find them useful personally for singing practice, especially for more difficult songs, which is why I initially started creating them. If any of you want me to transcribe a melody for you to use for singing/karaoke feel free to message me. I can either create one of these simple mp3s of me playing with the karaoke track or create some sheet music (though that takes a little longer). I can also possibly transcribe some solo piano pieces or other instrumental works in case you play an instrument. ...and if anyone wants to continue this thread or start a similar one like Sakabadger mentioned by all means do so. ;) --------------------------------- Collection of Songs :: Download * I included a #13 which I never got around to posting in the collection as well. |
Well, thanks for keeping it up for the.. errr.. 3 of us though! Your efforts are very much appreciated and it's always nice to see anison-related stuff around here :)
|
It seems like you unfortunately underestimated the ability(???) of the (3) people posting here. It's tough to find a balance between difficult and easy for this type of thing. The anime picture thread probably only thrives because it's so simple to take a screencap and upload it.
If there's a free, simple and fast solution for cropping mp3s, then it'd be easy to continue this game. Then one day the focus will somehow shift to Touhou arrangements, Blah will arrive, and the universe will be crushed. |
Even though this is only my 4th posting in this thread, I really liked it!
I appreciate your effort in making transcriptions all day long. It's really sad that nobody else caught interest, but it can't be helped. I also thought of me doing transcriptions and to play them on guitar, but they would end up as full-fledged and highly elaborated arrangements and definitely not suited for this kind of guessing game.. In terms of the cost/performance-ratio. :tpg: Well.. we will see. Let the future present itself! |
If you guys want to keep going, I could take over, despite this being the first time I've posted here. I've been following it a bit, but the only one I could have guessed was Allegro Cantabile, which was quickly snapped up by Saka. If it's just a melodic line, I should be able to do it pretty quickly on piano. I've also got a massive collection of random OP/EDs that I can pull sections from and crop quickly (including instrumental versions of the OP/EDs).
If it's a go, then I guess it'll be Saka's turn. Tell me what you guys think. |

For someone with a good ear though I imagine the possibilities for this thread could be endless. Omnislash124 if you ever do take over, which I think would be great, I could probably find the time to help you out once a week or so. I can also usually find just about any OP/ED single (for the karaoke tracks) or other anime music so you can message me if you are having problems with that. You shouldn't underestimate the abilities of these posters though, or how time consuming such a simple task like making a recording of a melody can end up being (especially for some of these songs). |

Let's try this out... Please excuse the slightly off rhythms as I don't have access to a good recording device right now, I'm transcribing the music in Finale, which is relatively rigid in terms of the rhythm. Should be fairly easy as it is the chorus of the song. Hint #1 Get the Flash Player to play this audio file: (Chorus, Single Melodic Line) Hint #2 Get the Flash Player to play this audio file: (Bridge + Chorus, Full Track) Hint #3: OP Video footage

Saka, if you'd like a free and easy way to crop music files into mp3, ogg, or wav or hell just about anything you could think of then go get Goldwave. At worst it'll remind you to go register it with a popup every now and then but is still perfectly usable. It's EXTREMELY easy to crack though.

Also, it is far easier in my opinion to just play the melody on an instrument and record that instead of using finale. I think I cut my time in half or even more when I stopped actually writing the music down on paper and just started listening and recording the songs phrase by phrase. I feel you are going to have a really tough time transcribing some of these rhythms using finale. Some of those electronic/trance/dance songs are so difficult to find the downbeats or any sense of rhythm for. |
Yeah, I realized that as I finished it, as I didn't think it was supposed to take anywhere near that long. Unfortunately, I need to find a good recording device before I use a real piano. The other thing is that I'll only have access to a piano for a short while as I'll be returning to college at the tail end of January.
