I just loved how Washizu could draw out his creepiness over THIRTEEN episodes of rambling hypotheses on Akagi's next possible move (as well as how much blood he can siphon). When only 34 out of the 144 tiles had any chance of being concealed, he still manages to come across as a lunatic old man.

K-On! was all right. The ED is definitely catchy and apparently is out now, but the quality is a little lacking for me. It's be neat if they somehow acquire new band members or extremely talented subs, just for a little variety. |
Queen's Blade is a trading card game. As in, real physical cards.
:gonk: |
Do they come with acid squirt gun novelty attachments?
|
Queen's Blade isn't so much a TCG as a "combat picture book game". I can't really imagine anyone sitting around to actually play the game, but it's done well enough regardless to spawn quite a number of publications.

To expand upon what Saka said, it's based upon this.
Also its probably done well enough because most of the images contained within are borderline porn, just like the anime. |
It's funny because although the books are pretty risqué, they don't ever actually show any nipples or details like that. You know, the whole "so long as you don't see the nipple it's OKAY" thing.
And then there's the anime, which is just like... you know? Sort of the opposite of the treatment most ero games receive when they get animated. I wonder which method actually works better for getting people interested in the property. |
Curiously enough they do avoid that, but then again... (NSFW as fuck)
I'm pretty sure the ero -> censored method works better. There's no reason to go to the original source if the adaptation gives everything away. |
Well, this post is long overdue, so here's my synopsis:
Cross Game Episodes seen: 3 Like I told Saka, I hadn't heard of Adachi nor am I a big fan of sports anime, but I have to say that I loved the character interactions and the storytelling in this one. The characters themselves are charming and though I've got a pretty good idea how the relationship will work out, it'll be fun to watch all the same. Oh yeah, and that plot twist in episode one was a bit unexpected. FMA: Brotherhood Episodes seen: 4 Like I voiced in the thread, I'm not sold on this series because I don't like the fast pacing and how it leaves no time for you to savor the character drama. Here's hoping it slows down once the series reaches the diverging point. K-ON! Episodes seen: 5 It's silly, it's not brilliant, and filled with too much in the way of forced moe. Unfortunately, I'm enjoying it just enough to keep up with it because it can be amusing when it wants to be. Eden of the East Episodes seen: 4 The clear standout this season. The last episode had a bit of believability issues since I'd expect more paranoia out of the main character, but overall the experience is delivering in both the story and the way the mystery is advancing (unlike Chaos Head's shoddy delivery which turned into a hilarious comedy of errors at the end). Again, the impact of the character drama in the latest episode could have been played up, but that's a minor point since we're diving further into the mystery. Valkyria Chronicles Episodes seen: 3 It's Marina Inoue voicing a character who makes funny faces. She's also hitting the tsundere bit really hard, which is making the gaming faithful less than pleased with how it's turning out, and understandably so from my standpoint since that archetype has been over-saturated. Saki Episodes seen: 3 It's moe mahjong. Expecting any sort of depth is futile at this point since the series professes to be nothing more than a story about a girl with incredible luck with some yuri undertones tossed about. I'll just enjoy it for what it is and move on. Will probably post the rest of my roster once I reach the 3-episode point for those shows. |
I can only comment on Eden of the East here. Just finished episode 3 and I'm already captivated from the story. The outro is especially nice :)

The only ones I've been watching this season are...
Sengoku Basara - AWESOME. The art style is what first got me hooked, the outrageous fights kept me watching. Eden of the East - Pretty good, watched the first two episodes. Nothing to get me too hooked, but I'll keep watching. Spice and Wolf II - Do I count as a furry if I like this :C Cuz I do. Economics! I also downloaded the first two pandora hearts. Letsee how that works out...although it doesn't look too promising. Sort of generic new-age shojo /y/pairingfest. |
