Are classes pigeon-holed into certain roles? That's the problem I ran into starting Warcraft. I rolled a warrior thinking "Hot shit, I'm gonna tear stuff up and be a badass in plate." Then I found out the hard cold truth that I will "STFU and keep that monster's attention while everyone else beats on it."

No, and yes. It depends on a few factors. First, the class you choose. Rune Priest is a example of a healer that you wanna pick to pretty much be the typical healer role. If you want to spice up that role, you can pick a Disciple of Khaine to dual wield, score more DPS, but be a tad bit less useful on the heal side. While you should still take priority over heals, the class is built to make you jump into combat to build up the very thing you need to use for the heals. There's also the Tanks that can take to the DPS role quite well if they choose a certain mastery. The game gives you lots of freedom. You're rarely ever FORCED to do just one thing.

So I've been thinking about getting this, but I'm worried about getting a game like this so close to launch date. Are there any glaring bugs, like Age of Conan had, or is it pretty solid?

Manny Biggz Oct 6, 2008 05:16 AM

Compared to Age of Conan's bugs, this game is the Mother fucking messiah! I have heard that some people with certain video cards are having slight crash issues, but it seems to be a minority. Other than that, it's a couple of animation glitches, and some odd lag glitches during scenarios.

What server are you any of you playing on? I picked White Tower and I'm regretting it because of my work hours. I usually end up playing in the morning and there is literally no one on. I can't get my renown rank up because I really can't get in a scenario. I played for 3 hours while waiting and nothing.

So I just got WAR

And learned that though my computer could prolly run it on below minimum specs (like it does WoW), the game checks to make sure your comp meets the specs.

Fuck you EA! I wanna play my WAR in slideshow mode!

50 bucks well spent -_-

1) This should be in the main thread.

2) Why in the WORLD would you buy the game knowing full well you don't meet the minimum specs? My computer bested the minimum specs but was under recommended and the game ran at MOST 20 fps if there was anyone within a mile. How could you play the game in those conditions?

3) Why in the FUCK would you buy a game knowing you don't have the computer to run it? Seriously! Minimum specs are not a recommendation. They're a MINIMUM. There's a reason they offer RECOMMENDED specs also.

There tends to be a bug that happens where if you die, or you get disconencted in game- when you log back in you'll be unable to fit yourself inside any queues and you'll spend all day waiting. To check to see if you're bugged, make sure auto-loot is active in the user options controls and go kill something. If the loot window remains open even after you've gotten the item then you're bugged. From what I understand and have experienced, the way to de-bug yourself is to create a new character on that server and join a queue. Pop into the RVR when it lets you and stay the round. Leave, log out and log back into your main. Go kill something. If the window auto-closes after looting you're free to queue for the RVRs again.

If you get bugged again, you'll have to make another new character so its wise to keep one slot open so you can make and delete your de-bug character.

*phew* long post >.<

Yeah I don't think that was it. I think it was due to there literally not being anyone on. I did /who and there were 2 people aside from me in the zone.

This game is getting a little bit better the more time Mythic has to flesh out the bugs. I know it seems like the early adopters are suffering through the true "beta test" phase, and I can't deny that...but it's headed in the right direction. It's unfortunate that the title got rushed, but there are enough players sticking around to keep it going for a while.

I agree, Mythic has the right idea in mind, and it's unfortunate that either they or EA forced them to release it in September as I can't help but feel it would've fared better had it been released after the new year. But what's done is done. I'm just glad that there hasn't been any doom and gloom posting about it in this thread as I've seen practically everywhere else where the game is being discussed. I'm currently taking a break from the game since I feel the need to break from multiplayer gameplay entirely for awhile, but the 1.1 patch sounds promising thus far, and while some of their changes have been questionable, it's the same "cant please everybody" situation. I look forward to seeing what Mythic might be able to do in order to make the Open RVR lakes just as appealing as scenarios.

The reason being is that most of the time, a lot of them are biased towards World of Warcraft. It's the first mmo by quite a few, and they uphold it so that any game afterwards that even have a HINT of similar comparison, they call the game a rip-off/copy, yet art direction of Warcraft itself is a copy of the Warhammer table top games to begin with. :erm:

As far as how the game is, Mythic have been doing a great job flushing out the bugs, as it was highly apparent from the Closed "Open" beta to the release, to what it is today. Along with that, putting the content that was cut out back in, instead of charging it as if it was an expansion.

Guru Nov 21, 2008 11:35 PM

I think once Mythic get around to making keep sieges (and defending) more valuable of a timesink than doing scenarios, the game will be great. The PvE content is pretty solid, if you're in a guild that can do runs through Lost Vale and regular city dungeons.

I think the frustration people have expressed with the game is that the main promise -- RvR -- has really been one of the weaker aspects of the game thus far. But if anyone played DAoC can remember, Mythic knows how to do keep sieging, even if it may take them a while to get it just right.

What servers are you guys currently playing on? My main Destro characters are on Vortex, but I've been sticking to my Order characters are Monolith because Vortex has been damn near deserted.
