Unlikely. The voice cast for Fable 2 (the proper game) includes the likes of Stephen Fry, Zoe Wannamaker, Julia Swahala (however you spell their names)

So now they've turned it into Nintendogs meets Loose Women? :)

Anyway, that's quite a relief because the voice work on that website is beyond shitty.

Anyone gotten screwed outta their LE content? All of the ones that came to my store lacked the LE sticker so that's pretty gay. Microsoft's said there can't get any codes out until next Wednesday, the 28th.

Pretty fucked up. This must be a cursed week to release a video game; LBP gets delayed because someone finall heard words from the Qu'ran after how many months in beta, and the only thing limited about Fable 2's LE is how many people actually got the content codes.

Surely the codes are all over GameFAQs already? Or are they one-use deals, specific to each purchase?

SouthJag Oct 21, 2008 11:24 AM

Truthfully I haven't checked GameFAQs yet, but I figured downloadable, limited edition-only content codes wouldn't appear so easily. Who knows, worth a shot.

After checking GameFAQs:

No codes. Seems like the 28th is the closest thing to a solution.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Oct 21, 2008 11:54 AM

These sort of things are generally public domain after a couple of days, assuming they're not unique codes. Much like the pre-order codes for cars in Burnout Paradise, they were common knowledge two days after the game launched. I'd be surprised if the LE content is so game-breaking that you need it before next week but I agree that it's pretty slack to offer something and not provide it in time.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Oct 21, 2008 09:25 PM

Codes are increasingly becoming one-time use (Mercenaries 2 and Infinite Undiscovery both employed disposable codes). Fable II's codes are no exceptions, sadly, so you seem to be shit outta luck if you don't nab one somehow.

Infernal Monkey Oct 21, 2008 11:36 PM

Admittedly, I haven't followed the progress of this game at all because I thought the first was horrific, but holy shit has this been getting ultra erections from everyone. The EuroGamer review was a great read. Seems like pretty much everything the original game was supposed to be. AND MORE. Delicious steak cutting utensils.

Silly question fun time though: Does the LE come in a regular DVD case, or one of those metal Steelbook disasters?

SouthJag Oct 22, 2008 12:00 AM

Regular case with a cardboard sleeve. The case is slightly cooler, given that the artwork is horizontal.

What's funny, was that I didn't have a sticker, but I DID get the code in the packaging.

Apparently a few that did have the sticker did NOT get the code.

I ordered from Amazon and got the code. Luckily I only paid $66 for it, including release date shipping, otherwise I'd be mad at how the LE went from being reasonably good to terrible when they cut most of the stuff out. I haven't had a chance to go to the bonus dungeon yet. Also, the bonus code basically gives you access to a 128kb download that just unlocks content that is already on the disk. The Master Chief armor is not very attractive, so I spent the first four hours with my female character running around in bra and panties, instead of MC armor or peasant clothes, with an energy sword strapped to her back. Now that I've gotten a chance to do clothes shopping, she is dressed like a hoochie, wearing hot pants, thigh high boots, and a corset.

So far the game is alright. The combat seems pretty fun so far. Kicking bandits off of high cliffs to kill them is funny. Following a couple of sword slashes with a quick gunshot finish is pretty fun I guess. I've noticed one thing that is still broken as hell though. In the first Fable, the fact that you were invulnerable during a roll basically broke the game. Did they change that this time around? Nope, still broken. Go into combat while holding a gun, then get unexpectedly surrounded by 5 bandits? No worries, I'll just roll a couple times while they impotently swing their swords through my tumbling flesh.

That said, it does seem like the game is generally a little thicker than the previous one. I look forward to, once I have a better handle on the game's mechanics, playing around with the multiplayer aspects of it.

Cheers, got it today.

Turns out it was also somehow a dollar cheaper than the regular edition here!

Don't think that rolling is necessarily broken, because within the skill description, they say that you do not take any damage when rolling, so it's more than likely intended in there.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Oct 23, 2008 07:07 AM

He means broken as in over-powered, rather than not doing what it's supposed to.

Yeah, really don't think you have anything to worry about on the voice acting front. I've barely scratched the surface of the game, but so far been pretty impressed with it (no Dick Van Dyke faux-cockney bollocks here).

OmagnusPrime Oct 30, 2008 09:00 AM

OK, don't know about anyone else who may or may not be playing this game (everyone seems to have gone over to Fallout 3 already), I'm rather enjoying the shit out of this game. I never played the original Fable so I can't draw any comparisons there, but I do know I've had a lot of fun with this game so far and am thoroughly enjoying exploring the world and playing with it.

When I first started I wasn't sure, as it had a bit of a slow-burning start for me, but given I've found myself sinking multiple hours into it without noticing speaks volumes. It's so easy to get side-tracked by things in the world, little side quests, doing jobs, or just exploring the areas, getting into scuffles with bandits. Lots of fun. Plus the story is pretty solid from what I've played of it so far.

And also got to say that the dog is brilliant.

kupomog Oct 30, 2008 06:14 PM

I have glowing blue runes all over my girl's body because I use Will a lot. I'm deleting all my fucking magic and just keeping force push and time control, I can't stand how she looks. I REALLY hope it goes away.

I've only gotten to Oakfield, I'm getting very distracted by the side quests but they're a fun way to waste time. I've already got practically everyone in love with me within 10 minutes of hitting up a region. Makes it hard to steal things when I've got townfolk worshipping my ass and following me everywhere. Was pretty funny in the Gypsy Camp, I married and had a kid with the tattooist and all we have is an open caravan. All the guys that are in love with me just follow me straight in, so I decided to have sex with my husband over and over and all the guys who followed me in just flipped out and started crying and screaming. Serves them right. The baby's opinion of me kept rising, on the other hand.

It is so satisfying to shoot a gargoyle in his face. Combat in general kind of disappoints me but now that I upgraded skill to allow free aim, I'm much happier. It's extremely easy otherwise, especially once you have roll. Also, it's probably a lot easier for me to kill enemies because a friend of mine sent me a steel cutlass that does something in the way of 55 damage before I even left the Gypsy Camp for the first time.

I want to get farther in the story but I also really want to do all the side quests I can first..everything is tempting but I tend to forget how long travel takes and I usually arrive late to some things, but it's cool. I've opened three two Demon Doors so far, become a 5-star blacksmither, and I've got two more jobs I can take on. Hopefully my child in the gypsy camp will grow up soon so I can move him and my husband out of that piece of crap caravan and into a real house in Bowerstone.

Overall, enjoying this a lot more than the first game so far but some things still bug me. Like the fact that I can manipulate people and my personality so very easily just by spamming an expression for 10 minutes.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Dec 15, 2008 03:31 AM

Played for thirty some hours, enjoying myself a whole lot the entire while.

Now my save file won't load. Others will, just not mine. Hm.

Grundlefield Earth Dec 15, 2008 04:00 AM

Yeah so did I. Be glad to see new content in a week or two whenever the content is coming.

Just two little things I found to be annoyances. The fact that you couldn't go up and have a conversation with any person when exploring. And you got quests from an invisible force in your questlog and not just by exploring or talking to people. This just would have added some more depth.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Dec 15, 2008 04:03 AM

So did you just start a new file or did you figure some way around it?

For me, at least, I can access all the saves under "Continue", and I can click on my file to load, but once it gets to the loading screen you ain't never leaving. I left it on for an hour earlier today and it hadn't moved an inch.

Grundlefield Earth Dec 15, 2008 04:11 AM

I meant I enjoyed it all the while too. I didn't have save problems.

Vampiro Dec 15, 2008 04:18 AM

Save file likely got corrupted. Check under systems and game saves or whatever. Not terribly uncommon (my whole profile got corrupted,) but there's not a whole lot you can do. There was a similar situation for many people in Far Cry 2 and those people were shit outta luck.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Dec 15, 2008 04:25 AM

It's not listed as corrupted or anything like that under Systems > Memory > Games, but it's not like that makes it any better. Either way the file won't load, and it doesn't look like there's a damn thing I can do about it.

Welp, guess I'll just have to have a go at being evil.

DeLorean Jan 26, 2009 06:59 PM

I have a couple Pre-Order Bonus codes if anyone is interested. I'm not sure whether or not the content redeemable by this code has been made widely available without the code or not. Just PM me if you want one.

EDIT: I'm out now, sorry to everyone who didn't get one but I still have a few Too Human and The Last Remnant pre-order codes.

OmagnusPrime Apr 30, 2009 07:21 AM

So another bit of additional DLC is on the way, this time titled See the Future. It's due to hit May 12th and will cost 560 points, which is pretty reasonable.

Quote:

Lionhead has announced that Fable II: See the Future will be released on 12th May on Xbox Live Marketplace and cost 560 Microsoft Points (GBP 4.76 / EUR 6.72).

The developer also tells us there will be a free multiplayer weekend for Xbox Live Silver subscribers starting on 8th May at 5pm UK time, and ending on 12th May at 5am.

See the Future is based around the investigating cursed artefacts of a Murgo the Trader, which takes players to a Coliseum that supposedly makes the original Crucible tournament look weedy.

Dalmation, Bloodhound and Husky breeds of dog are also introduced, as are loads of new quests, creatures, characters and items - a picture of the new gear can be found on the Lionhead community website.

As opposed to the free multiplayer weekend this weekend where all silver subscriptions count as gold ones across the whole of Live from midnight tonight until midnight monday? I believe they're calling it Xtival or somethign gay like that.
