The internet disagrees.

Yeah, so I'm getting this practically the moment it can be downloaded at Live Marketplace. I wonder what some of the achievements will be like for it, hoping they'll be hard as hell.

I can't get enough of that IGN trailer. I could give half a shit about the plot really, all I want is to get a crack at some unique and classic Mega Man stages once more. Wish Tecmo would bust out another classic Ninja Gaiden like this and keep the NES storyline moving instead of retconning the shit out of it with that new crap. I miss total nonstop falcons.

I would buy 10 copies of the boxart was this.

Infernal Monkey Jul 17, 2008 09:12 PM

The best part is that box art was seriously at Capcom's E3 booth, they were giving away t-shirts with that on the front.

I'd spend someone else's life savings to get one of them.

mortis Jul 17, 2008 09:36 PM

I am SO thinking of the Tiger Handheld Megaman 2 game whe nI see that...

SouthJag Jul 17, 2008 10:16 PM

Can I get a Halloween costume plz

This topic should always remain on the first page as this gonna be the most orgasmic game release of the decade.

If I were on that picture, you'd see me on my knees thanking god for this release and making love to the add.

I wish this was released on disc as well. In any case, this is going to blow every other release out of the water this year.

SuperSonic Aug 5, 2008 12:06 AM

I came here thinking that some news had come out, like which day in September this would be released, and then I see the post above. Yes, the game is exciting for us but if that's the only reason you want to bump the thread up then don't even bother posting.

Capcom's going out of its way to make sure its deliciously stale Mega Man 9 offers a true 8-bit experience, bugs and all. The company's Hironobu Takeshita recently told Gamasutra that the download will have the look and feel of a NES-era release, and that things such as sprite flicker have even been included as a -- thankfully optional -- feature.

"Yeah, there were some things, like you couldn't have more than three enemies on the screen at once, so we had to make sure that that's how it stayed in our game. In the part with the dragon with the flame, [there should be] flickering, and whatnot," noted the game's producer. "In the options of this game, you can adjust that, unlike the old games. We purposely put some of those old-school bugs into this game, so it does recreate that feel." Now, if only Capcom could emulate blowing into the cartridge we'd be in retro heaven.

If you want me to share some news about the release, here you go : Protodude's Rockman Corner

It mentions when the OST and the arranged soundtrack is going to be released.

Also, next time, you could choose not to be a dick. After all, this a discussion forum not a news site.

Achievements are out for the 360 version. They skew from what you'd expect to "what the fuck were they thinking". Seriously, Capcom, you expect us to play through the game 5 times in a day?

Quote:

Jitterbug -- Clear the game in 60 minutes or less (20 Achievement points)
Invincible -- Clear the game without dying (30 points)
Almost Invincible -- Clear the game without continuing (20 points)
No Coffee Break Clear the game without using any Energy or Mystery Tanks (10 points)
Peacekeeper -- Clear the game by defeating the fewest number of enemies possible (20 points)
Conservationist -- Clear the game by using the least amount of Weapon Energy possible (20 points)
Gamer's Day -- Clear the game five times in one day (20 points)
Whomp Wily! -- Clear the game once (5 points)
Destroyer -- Defeat your 1000th enemy (20 points)
World Warrior -- Defeat every type of enemy (5 points)
Trusty Sidearm -- Defeat the eight Bosses with the Mega Buster (20 points)
Blue Bomber -- Defeat a Boss without getting damaged (10 points)

Those are very cool Achievements actually, they're almost all like the old extra-hard challenges me and my friends used to think up when playing NES games, none of that "shoot an enemy" "get killed by an enemy" Achievement bullshit that so many games fuck around with.

Beat the game 5 times in a week, fine, but one day? Why would I want to play through the same game, where the exact same thing happens, 5 times in one day? Unless I have a Mega Man party, and we take turns playing through it, I'll never get this achievement.

The others I'm fine with. It's sort of annoying that so many deal with clearing the game, but I can't fault them for rewarding hardcore players.

Rotorblade Aug 14, 2008 11:28 AM

I guess they're trying to capture an organic feel with "Beat 5 times in one day", because if you look at the other achievements, they all involve multiple playthroughs of sorts.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Aug 14, 2008 02:21 PM

Turnip makes it sound like Mega Man games are terribly long and therefore difficult to beat multiple times through in single sittings.

Conservationist and Trusty Sidearm sound about the same, though. One would come due to the other, if I'm imagining how this works right.
