That's MS's big mistake. Multi SKU's. No one wants the Core package.

Agreed-the hard drive, I think, should have just been standard.

You just named the biggest problem.

Some developers (hi EA) are halfassing achievements (score a touchdown? jesus christ) so lame people are just renting games to get their gamerscore up.

Which is cheap and doens't show someone's skill.

Weird. I have never considered Game Points to be anything about skills. I've thought about it as a way to increase the time you spend on the game. (Like Condemned's "collect scrap metal for POINTS")
Game Points have helped me play some games some more. Hunted all the potions in Kameo? Sure, skill may play a part, but as far as I can see, it's about making the games last longer...

Tube Mar 5, 2006 10:30 PM

I would've put down PDZ ages ago if it weren't for achievements, and my desire to not leave attainable ones unattained.

Plus, the half-assed achievements are probably only hurting them in the long run. People (such as Gamerscwhores like myself) will rent their shitty sports games more, but will actually purchase them less, which is where the money actually counts.

Grundlefield Earth Mar 5, 2006 10:47 PM

Indeed Tube. I pretty much have all the PDZ ones that are attainable. I suppose I could have gotten all the dark agent levels completed, but why should I play boss levels over and over on dark agent just because you die there and there is no checkpoint. You may not even die there, but in the TOUGH level before getting to the boss. I just said ah I will get the 5 level dark achievements and call it.

Double Post:
Hey I found a rather interesting site for achievement junkies and other stats. Real cool, except its a little slow and not all gamertags are in it yet. Plus look at their upcoming plans too.

I have no desire for video games whatsoever. I don't enjoy video games much anymore, because I sort of grown out of that in a certain way. The only game I'll love is Final Fantasy .... almost any of them. I'll never forget the music and the game of FF7, then after that I started liking them all. Either then that, I sort of lost interest in games. I haven't finished any of my 360 games, I haven't even tried most of them... They are just collecting dust. The only MMORPG I play is ROSE Online (PC), but still if it's not a Final Fantasy then I won't be that interested :juggler:. I beat FFX and I stopped playing it, I'll never forget it. Excuse me if that was off topic a bit.

Zeo Mar 7, 2006 12:51 AM

So I wake up this morning to a new voice message from BZ.

Dude, why the hell are you spamming people? You sent everyone on your list an audio message that said, and I quote:

"Oblivion is finally confirmed to be out in stores on the 21st of March, shipping the 20th, and I expect everybody to be out in stores getting this game, because it is no doubt going to be one of the best games ever."

I'd get it, but KH2, Tetris DS, and Metroid also come out at the same time. :P

Anywho, where the hell is the Ghost Recon demo? The full game is out tomorrow. :\

Oh, and The Outfit demo BLOWS. What a shame.

Megalith Mar 7, 2006 01:42 AM

At the end of month, you'll be able to walk into any store and get a premium console. Microsoft has all of their plants up and running now, or some crap.

I can't still find a reason to get one though.

Grundlefield Earth Mar 7, 2006 02:32 AM

I suppose I missed the memo that sending one message to everyone on my list ONCE is against the Xbox rules. However, anyone who sends messages saying that they have gotten a new level in halo 2 EVERY FUCKING LEVEL is immediately removed from my list.

Anyways, not taking what I said above into account, consider yourself removed from my list. Your obsession with me is a little absurd.

And Megalith there are a ton of great games so I don't know what the reason you need is. Its called PGR3, Kameo, Condemned, PDZ and COD2. And damn Oblivion.

There is no reason to pick up a 360. Trust me, I have one and it's not worth it...yet. You'll have one, then play a game or two for 15 minutes tops then get bored of it, because none of the games are that interesting. I care less about the points now, I would rather have a game that's actually FUN and worth playing. All opinion of course, but opinions do have factor points.

Yet your post informs us not to get an Xbox 360 because you have no interest in any of the games.

People always ask me this since I just leave my 360 on all the time. I figure I'll get back on within a couple hours, so I don't bother turning it off at all. Especially in DOA4; I leave it on overnight, during work, during school so I can eventually get the "Played 100 hours" achievement. It's a miracle it hasn't overheated and died yet.

Kaleb.G Mar 7, 2006 03:47 PM

I haven't really been keeping up on this system since launch. Have they fixed their defect problem yet now or what? I kinda want to pick up a 360, but not if it's going to die and make me lose all of my progress and shit. Also, has anything better than Geometry Wars been released?

Neogin Mar 7, 2006 04:49 PM

If you ever have problems, just give Microsoft a call, and they should do something about it. I remember reading some news on microsoft.com or something, for support. The majority of the bugs/problems should be gone by the new shipment, which should be..in late March?

Megalith Mar 7, 2006 06:18 PM

They'll just tell you to buy another one, while forcing you to extend your Live subscription. Sorry.

I just want to check out the 360 dashboard. I heard that you can even put pictures of naked women in the background.

Yillb Mar 7, 2006 06:36 PM

If you so desire to, you can, but only one for all four blades.

Even with a warranty? I shall deny your post!

Yeah, well, you can hack into anything nowadays.

No, see, it's not against the "rules".

It's just lame and fanboyish. You made a commercial and sent it to people.

GR and purbeast from 360gamesaves.com bring you a great Xbox360 mod project today. Since there is a lack of quality arcade joysticks for the console at this point, we bring you a way to wire up your own! You can use any stick you want, more or less. With DOA4 already out and Street Fighter on the way to the Xbox Live Arcade, you need this mod now more than ever! Enjoy!
Xbox-Scene
I've always wanted to make my own arcade stick.

Once they get Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection properly working with the 360 this tutorial will probably be used in a few years.

New Zealand's advertising scheme is pretty bad. *sigh*

Grundlefield Earth Mar 10, 2006 08:45 PM

::noonecares::

Pretty bad, it is just a repeat of the US launch. That is nothing new.

Man I like how I have a week off next week for spring break and really want to play 360 a lot, but damn I got to catch up on some schoolwork to get ready for Oblivion.

speculative Mar 10, 2006 09:57 PM

I saw a bundle for $480 at Costco. PGR, extra wireless controller, Premium pack, media remote, etc. It actually seemed like a really good deal. Until I realized I paid $200 for a brand new PS2 and $150 for a brand-new Gamecube...

Infernal Monkey Mar 10, 2006 10:33 PM

Yes, new consoles do tend to be more expensive than old consoles.
