Sixaxis, Assassins Creed (looks and plays much better on PS3), Grand Theft Auto IV (looks about 2x as good as 360 Elite), new FF, Blu-Ray capabilities VS. Wireless XBox controller, Halo 3 (and possibly a new Halo game), and by the way, does anyone know if RE5 is going to be PS3 exclusive? Probably not. Well I know you didn't want a specs or games list but this is just a rough comparison of what comes off the top of my head as a person in the same position as you, who owns neither console. Personally, I like the PS3 alot better but I agree with russ in that the XBox controller is more modern and sensible; but you still gotta love the Sixaxis. :). After all is said and done, it's your call, friend.

The PS3 was definitely weak during its first year, but now the price has been dropped, the console's firmware has been much improved and will completely catch up with the 360 this month (with the addition of in-game XMB and game trophies), and I think its interface is much more elegant than the Dashboard, plus the console itself is probably the best-looking ever. As for the games, with fantastic exclusives like Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigPlanet and Valkyria Chronicles, I think the PS3 is the clear winner this year. That said, I am mostly being facetious, of course. Just pick whichever console has more exclusives that you want. And at least weren't even considering the Wii. Nintendo fans are the worst kind of scum. Also, Quote:

Y'know, I never understood why people defend the PSN or NWC with statements of "it's free, so it's superior to XBL". For five fucking measly dollars a month, the service and quality of the experience you'll get is much better.
|
a) I wasn't 'defending' PSN (I don't think it needs to be defended)
b) I didn't say it was superior to Live. Both services work fine as far as I'm concerned; whichever is used by more of your friends is 'superior' |
Lodging it into a series of other valid complaints certainly makes it look like it, y'know. Can't really blame me for interpretting it that way considering how you threw the comment out up there. :tpg:

Also, RE5 is multiplatform and has been for like 2 years. Additional Spam: Quote:

Can we all just agree that arguing about which console is better is like the height of internet asshattery and move on with our lives?

It's a thread dedicated to answering a question asked by a person who won't be appearing again to read the thread, who won't take or listen to the advice offered to him, and that's been bumped a week later by a fucking retard, Deni.
What did you expect? |
I do not understand why most of you are putting so much effort into attacking and defending the two consoles. Both of them have their ups and downs. That has been pointed out. No system is better than the other. It is all a matter of personal opinion.

and games like Uncharted would be described as an action game. Simply having an adventure within the game story is not what makes an "adventure game". If that were so, RPGs could be adventure games as well. BTW i have not yet played Uncharted so I could be wrong. |

I forgot, the gaming industry hates personal opinion. I really should know this since I work for Gamestop.

Well being as someone who has fought between which system I should get, I have also gone thru the same dilemma. But to end the dilemma I thought about this, which console will be economically and logically better for me. I thought about the fact that my all time favorite series is on the 360, but then I thought that Ive never owned any xbox game or console before, so for me to get an entirely new system for one game and other multi-platformers...it just didnt add up for me.
Now sony on the other hand is more logical for me. My games are on ps2, my older games are on ps1, and I own a PSP with games on that. Its not that I am a fanatic for Sony, its just the games I love happened to be on that. So in that aspect for me, getting a ps3 is the better deal. Come Thursday, the ps3 with MGS4 will be mine. So the point im making is, think about this logically and economically. If you own an Xbox and have more games on there, get the 360. If you own more sony games, go for the ps3. |

I'm both surprised and impressed by that. Most of the time people ask this sort of question, they tend to just get whatever it was they had more of an inkling towards in the first place and let a thread fester. So props for honestly being interested in what some of us think. That's refreshing.

Let's face it, Opions are like arsholes, Everyone's got one but by the way this thread it turning out we need to just think about one aspect, As buyer who doesn't know a lot about either console's you need to have a look at the games that have already come out, The games that a due to come out, And which ones apeal to you. I think thats kinda sums it up there because in no time short this thread will turn into a bare fist brawl over either console, And speaking as a person who has owned a PS1, 2 and played the PS3 alot as well as the Xbox's i think it just comes down to the games.
......Theres the bottom line. :) |
