You could always take a women studies class. Everybody in that class is female, be they feminists, lesbians, or homosexual men (inlcuding you if you take it).

Just take the dance class. Even if you don't learn now, whatever girl you end up with in the future will piss and moan for you to dance with her. Better to learn now rather than later.

Nutrition, English class (any that account for elective should do), Music classes, Dance, anything that can be defined to be from "Liberal Arts" should do.

This thread reminds me of the cheer I came up at a school pep rally. We got all the people from College of Liberal Arts to shout at the College of Engineering: "Hey Engineers! We got WOMEN, yes we do, we got women, how about YOU?!"

This guy I know is taking a women's studies class and he's the only guy there. The thing is all the girls hate him because it's a feminism class and for his first paper, he wrote about why women shouldn't have equal rights at the work place (they were supposed to write why women should). Haha, I think that'd actually be amusing for a bit, but I wouldn't do it. Anyway, Psychology, Dance, and any of the Phys. Ed. type classes sound good.

I'm telling you now -- while Psychology and Sociology, which was my major, are majority female, don't take them. You will find maybe 1/10 women you'd actually want to be around.

You wanna meet attractive, actually cool chicks? Communications. Someone cunningly said Linguistics earlier, but basic communications is really a gold mine. Argumentation (ironic, huh) and Intro were both good classes too.

Wow, and I thought college was for getting an education and working towards a job...how about taking a class that INTERESTS you?

Anyway, if you're really convinced, I'd take psychoogy, like the others said. I'm studying psychology, and there really is a large female majority.

Who said I'm going to take a class I'm not interested in? Why do you think I'm hesitant to take dance even though it's the one people say will have the most women? Why do you think I don't want to take women's studies? Just because I'm looking for a class with more women than my in-major courses, doesn't mean I'm going to take History of Menstruation just because I think it'll have 500 women in it.

And no, college isn't just about getting an education and working towards a job. How many people go out into the "real world" and don't go into what they studied in college? A whole lot. College is also about meeting new people. I don't see why that's so hard to understand for a couple of you.

And yes, Psychology is at the top of my list since I already took Intro to Psychology and actually liked it. I might take Abnormal Psychology next since that's what my Psych major friend suggested.

It's damn fine if you want to get involved with a class that you're interested in that has the added benefit of having a higher girl:guy ratio than your major classes. I see no problems in that. Obviously you're not putting your whole college career on the line by taking one or two outside classes.

Besides classes, can I suggest getting involved with some school groups as well? It may be tough for your schedule, or groups at your school may just be a wash/not interesting; but I've had much more success meeting new people (as you said) at my extracurriculars than I did in classes (mainly due to the combo of shared interests/having multiple fun events a week, rather than lecture/discussions).

With smaller classes, you really get to know the people there, guys AND girls. I don't know, I'm taking IT classes, and well, the ratio of guys to girls is like 1:1. I guess it depends on which area of the US you're in. I don't know really. It just takes a good opening (not pickup) line to meet a girl, and a decent personality to keep one. If you can't do either of those... sorry to hear that.

I'm in California; no shortage of girls here. I have no trouble speaking with women. My problem is that there are no women to approach in my major. =P Anyway, I really would rather prefer smaller classes where I can get to know everyone. I'm also getting tired of huge lecture halls where the professor has a hard time teaching and people are so distant with oen another because there are 200 others taking the class.

Anyway, right now I'm thinking about Psychology, Italian (I'm 1/2 Italian and would like to learn to speak the language instaed of just understand it), Communication, Political Science, and maybe Dance if I feel that I can actually handle the physical requirements of the class (I have two left feet). Good suggestions from everyone; let me know if you have any other ideas.

Choir, if possible. There's a good amount of girls in my choir that look almost too good, and believe me, they love a guy who can sing. It's almost a sure thing you'll end up with SOME girl all over you. You just gotta hope it's one of the hotties.

Take a communications class. People say it's one of the easiest majors. Most of the sorority girls are comm majors, so you're bound to meet someone hot. If not, befriend one and get invited to her sorority events. You might actually learn a thing or two about communication/appearance.

My Italian classes have had the highest ratio of girls to guys than any of my other classes. My first semester of Italian, there were 16 girls and 3 guys. This semester, its 14 girls and 5 guys. And most of the girls in the classes are pretty hot, so, from my experience, this is one of your better bets. And, because of the relatively small class size with foreign language classes, you can get to know everyone easily.

Well, it's a bit different in America and even here in Scotland, I guess, but in Germany, you definitely go into what you're studying. I think the U.S. and Canada are about the only countries where you can still take subjects other than your major in your final year - which I don't think is necessarily a bad thing. And personally, I don't think you learn that many life-relevant things in uni. Uni doesn't grow people up, we need to grow ourselves up, in a way.

In any case, I think Abnormal Psychology sounds like a really interesting subject.

I started to take this course, and someone told me it was almost entirely taught around how the brain works chemically to affect someone's behavior. Soon as I heard that, I went into Sociology.

if you can't decide which one class to take, why don't you spend the first week crashing a few of them to see what they're like? after receiving the course syllabi and scoping out the classroom environment, you'll have an idea as to what you'll be doing for the rest of the term. thus providing the contrast of how propitious each class may be...

I actually planned it this way. :p I purposefully didn't take my free electives early on like most people. My reasoning was that classes will get harder as I go along so I saved the easy free electives until the last year. Also, I worked my butt off the first 3 years, taking more than required so I can have an easy time and enjoy myself next year. :D

Ballroom dancing isn't so bad if you don't know anything about it. I went into that class without any idea of how to do things and I got through it just fine. Though I learned that women your own height make better dance partners than the short ones.

Or, you could also consider extracurricular activities. From what I've gathered, there are an awful lot of women running around in Circle K International, and the clubs in California are huge (100 members and change, usually). And for some reason women are drawn to service organizations like that.

My first suggestion would have been a nursing class, but since those generally require you to actually be a nursing major, then probably not. But just going with the majority and actually agreeing with most, your best bet is to take a women's studies class if you really want to outnumber yourself. I had to take one of those classes a couple semesters ago and we had one male in our class.

The problem with psych girls as everyone is suggesting is that more often than not these girls need the attention of a psychologist. My housemates at one point were all dating psych girls, they were all headcases.

Out of curiosity squib, what is your major? (I'm in computer engineering and yeah, the only girl in any of my classes save for maths. One of my professors thinks it's funny to start the class with "Good morning lady and gentlemen." )

I'm going to go with what seems to be the majority opinion here that psych might have a lot of girls, comm will have the hot ones. This is a trend I've noticed as well from my own electives.
