Preordered. I did want some samples, but why bother since I'm going to buy it anyway.

Did anyone listen to Symphonic Poem Hope yet and see it used in the Hope Trailer Music Video?

It's incredibly beautiful. I was tearing up at some of the solo violin parts.

I have such high hopes for the soundtrack now.

I just finished listening to it, and the songs were indeed good. I particularly enjoyed the last three tracks.

Thanks for the trailer as well.

Metal Sphere Mar 4, 2006 02:08 PM

Yeah, it's pretty awsome. The Road to Hope bit is my favorite part though the rest isn't bad by any means. Oh, and welcome back Jazz.

soulsteelgray Mar 4, 2006 02:18 PM

Symphonic Poem "Hope" is a great piece of music, though I was expecting something longer. It's great the way it is, though.

Did Hitoshi Sakamoto compose it?

Metal Sphere Mar 4, 2006 02:21 PM

IIRC, I don't think so. Check this out according to CDJapan:

Quote:

Main theme to the PlayStation 2 game "Final Fantasy XII" composed by clasical musician Taro Hakase. This, Hakase's first release in five years, features the first ever "Final Fantasy" theme song to be released in the same format worldwide. Song performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Bonus DVD includes cut scenes for the main game and characters. Special package features "Final Fantasy" character pattern. *Unless otherwise indicated, DVDs are region-2 encoded (Japan, Europe, and Middle East), and carry no subtitles.

It was composed by Taro Hakase and Yuji Toriyama. It was inspired by Sakamoto's main theme for the game though.

Echolyn Mar 4, 2006 03:33 PM

It's one of the best pieces of music i've heard for some time, I really hope this is really meant for the FFXII soundtrack and that it is used ingame because it would be such a waste otherwise.

I also checked the video great stuff, can't wait for the day that Final Fantasy will be completely of those graphics!

EDIT: But wait a minute wasn't Nobou-san going to do the main theme or is he completely removed from the soundtrack??

I think all he's doing is writing the music for the vocal theme, Kiss Me Good-Bye.

Echolyn Mar 4, 2006 04:04 PM

Doens't matter though I really love this main them more than any of the older ff's themes. :D

Motsy Mar 4, 2006 05:13 PM

Hope alone guaranteed a preorder for me.

What's "Hope"? Are you talking about "Symphonic Poem "Hope""? Is that even going to be on the OST?

Metal Sphere Mar 4, 2006 07:52 PM

Well, the Limited Edition OST has tracks that aren't even going to be in the game itself (an example of this would be the Symphonic Poem).

FOXDIE Mar 4, 2006 11:35 PM

I am going to wait a few days and see if I can pre-order it at cdjapan. If not, then I guess I will be hitting that red and famous "Buy Now" button from Cocoebiz... errr... VGMWorld.

Simo Mar 5, 2006 12:43 AM

For those that already preordered it from Cocoabiz/VGMWorld, have they already deducted payment for the CD?

lightgem Mar 5, 2006 03:37 AM

Talking about Symphonic Poem, I have a little question to ask. Does Symphonic poem apply the same structures and rules with Symphony, or not? From what I 've listened, they don't have the same rules.
Specifically speaking in this SP Hope, the 1st movement becomes Overture; the 2nd movement becomes the "real" first movement, but it's too short to be the 1st movement; the "3rd" (which is second from what we're talking about) movement is not the variation theme; the last movement does play a recap but it's the recap of the "4th" (3rd) movement, not the 1st, and is not transposed to another key.
So it's obvious that Symphonic Poem do not use rules of Symphony. But the fact that it's a branch of Programme Music, which is evolved from Symphony, always make me believe Symphonic Poem has to have some structures and rules. So does it or does it not?

Cheezeman3000 Mar 5, 2006 06:07 AM

Not sure about the symphonic poem thing, but this song alone makes me want to buy the soundtrack, I don't CARE if it's not even a part of the game! Heck as long as it's merely BASED on the theme from the game I still want it.
Holy crap. Amazing.

I guess it depends on which way of payment you choose!
I usually use Paypal and as far as I can remember from the last time I ordered at Cocoebiz/VGM World....you have to pay preordered items forward.
(the last time I ordered there was when the Rockman X box was first released...so that's a while ago)

This is the e-mail I got from them:

Thank you for ordering from VGMWorld.com. You'll receive your Order
Confirmation with payment info and the total within 48hrs during weekdays. If you will pay via PayPal, IPMO or Cash, please wait for the next email
to get the info. Thank you!

If you choose Paypal, you need to pay right away for your pre-ordered items and that means you will be charged after sending the payment. That's why I would like to order it from cdjapan, they charge your credit card when your order ships and not a moment sooner.

Kinggi Mar 6, 2006 12:20 PM

Cant wait for this one. I really do hope Hitoshi comes through with this soundtrack.

Well that's unfortunate, for me anyways.

Fortunately Play-Asia are now taking preorders for the LE OST and while they're only charging an extra $3 with the same amount of shipping, they don't deduct payment until the item is in stock and ready to ship. :)

cubed Mar 7, 2006 10:29 AM

if money-is-deducted-when-the-item-ships is really that important to you, CDJapan.co.jp is now accepting preorders.

That's great news. It's about time. Amazon shouldn't be too far behind now.

Yes, if you do not want to be charged right now, you should try placing a pre-order on cdjapan. That's what I did. Of course, you will not be able to enter to the Sakimoto signed card contest... :(

That's fine. I think I'll go ahead and preorder it at Play-Asia. I would of gone with the original link but I don't have the funds in PayPal right now for the CD and at least this way I don't have to have payment ready until April 19th. :)
