I don't think it's particularly that it's being blamed on a game that anyone cares about. But rather the fact that they're blaming it on something/anything that's not the teenagers who are the ones responsible. Heck I could see them getting a lighter sentence because "a video game made them do it". Which would be a load of crap don't you think?

So they are too drunk to notice they are killing the girl but can crack a freaking egg in her mouth and wait 15 minutes because they are afraid of the police? I don't know what the hell is wrong with those young adults but it wasn't Mortal Combat that had anything to do with it. Me and all the kids around my neighborhood used to play Mortal Combat outside all the time just after it came out. Like 6 or more of us all taking turns fighting one on one. We'd get a few bruises and scraps now and then but we had a great time.

Completely agree. I don't think the media is blaming games for this one. I just would hate to see people here angered about video game bashing rather than what actually happened.

The witness asked Roberts (the black dude being held partially responsible for the child's death) why they didn't stop attacking the little girl and he responded "I don't know; I was drunk."

So, to break this down further

Witness = Why didn't you stop?
Roberts = I don't know; I was drunk.

Game subtext or not, stupid people being fucking stupid always baffles me in the news. Because it's always a case of trying to figure out some related activity, rather than the person. That's too cut and dry right there, apparently.
