3 Points: Super DX-Ball (Game Rip) - Board #4
2 Points: MARIO SPORTS CD THE BEST - Tournament 1st & 2nd Match
1 Point: ZUNTATA LIVE 1997 ~CINETEQUE RAVE~ (AUDIO FILE) - G

Nothing to say other than Super DX-Ball is pretty ballin' hyuk hyuk

Also I have a nomination but I don't have a composer or track number, is this a problem?

If it comes from a game, it shouldn't be a problem at all, seeing as I had next to no information on my Barbie nomination.

Also, points!

2 points - Barbie Super Model (SNES Game Rip) - Stage 1
2 points - Super DX-Ball (Game Rip) - Board #4
2 points - ZUNTATA LIVE 1997 ~CINETEQUE RAVE~ (AUDIO FILE) - G

I'm not sure why I nominated that song from the Barbie game. Perhaps I have bad taste in music like CHz. Or maybe because it seems like solid gold compared to the rest of the game. Or maybe it's just funny to listen music from a Barbie video game and I find it to be a joke track. But regardless, I enjoy the song, enough to have nominated it and give it a couple points.

Board #4 and the Zuntata song both had a really unique and cool sound to them. Everything else was pretty blah, so the remaining few points were easy to hand out.

kuttlas Dec 15, 2007 11:18 PM

I'll take as a yes then Mr. OfNee.

Composer: Unknown, the manual only lists the american voice actors/production staff
Year: 2004
Album: Bomberman Jetters (Game Rip)
Title: Hot World
Track Number: ??

Good on ya.

Some composers I wonder about though. Follin is probably the #1 that I'd consider if, in fact, SotW decided to blanket ban composers. Has a Follin track in SotW ever NOT placed (5 of the 8 Follin Week tracks nonwithstanding.)

"Main Theme" from Solstice placed 6th in Week 70 and "Gambit" from Spider-Man and the X-Men: Arcade's Revenge didn't place in Week 23 (don't know what place it got, though). Maybe more too, but those are the ones I remember.

TheKnightOfNee Dec 16, 2007 08:25 PM

There's also three songs from Plok that didn't place. And of course, the five non-placers in Follin week, but those don't count.

But really, I don't want to see a composer blanket ban, because what if there's something obscure from that composer that none of us know about? The point of SotW isn't to place or win, it's to show everyone new songs. The scoring just encourages people to present good material that they feel others may like.

And I just realized today that the Doujin contest, the source of the SotW extensions, is now up.

Not to mention five other Follin tracks failing to earn placement in Week 56. Yes, it was "Follin Week", so something had to fall by the wayside but I still scratch my head over the fact that "Solstice - Title Theme" didn't crack the Top 3.

Azel ~ Panzer Dragoon RPG - Wandering Reminds me of Earthbound for some reason. Pleasant, with a slight Asian flair, but ultimately kind of bland.

Barbie Super Model (SNES Game Rip) - Stage 1 Chutzpah points for the nomination; the music is rather better than one would expect given the pedigree. It's a little tinny and MIDI-ish, but there's some good rhythm.

I/O perfect Audiotracks - gamma It's got a frenetic techno beat and a fast tempo, but doesn't really do much with either until 2/3 of the song have gone by. The klaxons are both interesting and annoying at the same time.

MARIO SPORTS CD THE BEST - Tournament 1st & 2nd Match The synth's a bit weak, but that's par for the course in just about any Nintendo offering. More importantly, there's a nice melody and some good supporting percussion and guitar. I quite like this one.

Minna no Golf 5 Original Soundtrack - Iris Field C.C. Nice melody in this one. Could use a hair more variation in the first part of the loop, but nice overall.

Super DX-Ball (Game Rip) - Board #4 Interesting techno sound here, with a strong melody and less of that repetitive trance crap.

UNDER17 Best Album 1 ~Bishoujo Game Song Ni Ai Wo !!~ - Kotae I don't know why Japanese vocal VGM tends to favor singers that sound like they're 12 years old and have never had a voice lesson, but here we are.

ZUNTATA LIVE 1997 ~CINETEQUE RAVE~ (AUDIO FILE) - G Not without its merits, but a little repetitive in the first half and rather weird in the second.

Another group on the high end of "meh," with only one really bad track.

The Point Spread
Mario Sports - 3 pts.
Minna no Golf - 2 pts.
Super DX Ball - 1 pt.

Drakken Dec 18, 2007 11:19 PM

No idea what the response to this is gonna be (I'm guessing it will just get some single point nods), and it's pretty short for a SotW nom of mine, but oh well. It's unique, and I enjoy it. :)

Album: Chibi-Robo (Game Rip)
Artist: Taniguchi Hirofumi
Song Title: Happy Birthday
File Location: My hard drive
Notes: I'm not sure what I want to call this -- either Happy Birthday or Jenny's Birthday. The filename in the rip I have just says "party," which isn't a very appealing title. The soundtrack that was released with the game's guide has a song called Happy Birthday, and I'm pretty sure that's this song. Back when I had started a rip, I called this track Jenny's Birthday (this isn't from my aborted rip, though, this is from someone else's complete rip).

I was worried about the relative lack of jap vocal bashing, but orion_mk3 delivers!

Grabbed that track off the OST: http://sotw.info/music/nominations/0...20Birthday.mp3. How's that sound?

Ceft Dec 19, 2007 02:21 PM

>_> I was expecting my track to be up this week. Lol, that's what happens when I don't check out GFF for a week. :P

Anyway, real nice to see some Panzer Dragoon action. And gamma sure reminded me of Sega Tunes X-Men.

(3 points) Azel ~ Panzer Dragoon RPG - Wandering
(1 point) Barbie Super Model (SNES Game Rip) - Stage 1
(1 point) I/O perfect Audiotracks - gamma
(1 point) Super DX-Ball (Game Rip) - Board #4

They all should have placed that week.

I don't care how.

That's good; thanks. Got a link to the OST? :)

Seriously; that is bizarre.

Elorin Dec 23, 2007 01:06 PM

Just came back from a long vacation. So I'd better start cracking on this week's voting:

(2 points) Azel ~ Panzer Dragoon RPG - Wandering

(2 points) ZUNTATA LIVE 1997 ~CINETEQUE RAVE~ (AUDIO FILE) - G

(2 points) Super DX-Ball (Game Rip) - Board 4

I must admit I was very tempted to give "gamma" a point. My next nomination:

* Album Title: N/A
* Artist: Hiroki Kikuta
* Track Title: Naven
* Source: ¥¿Ê^¤£©úªºµe´Y°Q½×°Ï°Q½×°Ï - ¤Ú«¢©i¯S¹qª±¸ê°T¯¸ yƒQ[ƒ€‰¹ŠyEV•ˆzw¹Œ•“`à2,3x‚ðì‹È‚ µ‚½‹e“c—TŽ÷A7”N‚Ô‚è‚̐VìwLOST FILES (You might notice that addresses of the Naven mid and mov links aren't the same as that displayed on the last website source.)
* File Location: Nomination folder; http://www.zephyr.dti.ne.jp/~deadtech/naven.mid (for the interested: http://www.zephyr.dti.ne.jp/~deadtech/naven.mov
)
* Disc Number: N/A
* Track Number: N/A
* Catalogue Number: N/A
* Year: 2000 (at least I think so)

I experienced some problems trying to convert the mid file into mp3 (for some reason it clips near the beginning after conversion...) so have uploaded the mid file instead.

Dhsu Dec 23, 2007 02:50 PM

3 pts - Wandering
2 pts - G
1 pts - Kotae

Drakken Dec 24, 2007 12:37 AM

EDIT: Points!

Board #4 - 3 pts.
Iris - 1 pt.
Kotae - 1 pt.
Stage 1 - 1 pt.

Kotae is a nice song; I like it music-wise. I don't care for the singing, though. How old is the singer? I'm serious, I'm not just trying to poke fun.

Also, I'd say Panzer Dragoon Saga / Azel should be added to the ineligible list now. It's had a good amount of representation (if not here, then in the BSC), and I would think its soundtrack is fairly well known about anyway.

EDIT^2: Based on what Dhsu said, I must be thinking of a different Panzer Dragoon game. I seem to recall "The Approaching Enemy" as one of the BSC tracks from a PD game (?).

Dhsu Dec 24, 2007 01:27 AM

I checked the nomination history before I picked this and didn't see a single track from Panzer Dragoon Saga. The only tracks I've seen nominated in BSC are Atolm Dragon and Pure Blood Seed...Orta and Panzer Dragoon 1 and 2 are much more popular sources from what I've seen. So I think it's a little early to be disqualifying PDS. Although if I'm wrong and it's had a much bigger showing in the BSCs than I realize, then I suppose that's fine.

Drakken Dec 24, 2007 01:34 AM

You're right; I didn't realize they were all from different Panzer Dragoon games. Here's what I have for the last three BSCs:

Panzer Dragoon: Flight (twice)
Panzer Dragoon Saga: Sona mi areru ec sancitu
Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: The Expected Enemy
Panzer Dragoon Orta: Gigantic Fleet (twice)

So, nevermind.
