I still have my jeans jacket covered with patches of bands and random advertisements. I rocked it through high school. along with my dog choke chain around my neck.

In middle school, I cut my hair from really long to really short, and to remember my long hair, I decided to have a rat tail. big mistake was an understatement.

If I remember to, I'll get some pictures of my old jeans jacket and post them in my journal eventually.

In elementary school, it was pogs. There were pogs everywhere. The teachers confiscated so many, that they had a massive collection.

In middle school, it was a big thing to show off branded things and draw logos in notebooks.

And in high school, it was putting metallic gum wrappers on notebooks. Also wallets and purses made out of duct tape.

Lady Miyomi Mar 28, 2006 11:38 PM

Oh man, I remember those damn pogs. I hated those things because one day in school some random kid came screeching through the hallway and threw a whole bunch of them everywhere. Just about everybody in the hallway was scrambling for them except me.

I've never heard of the wallets and purses made out of duct tape. Did you have one?

I poked it and it made a sad sound Mar 28, 2006 11:45 PM

Ahahaha, I TOTALLY decked out my notebooks in silver gum wrapping. DAMN. I thought I was the only asshole who did that.

I always wanted a wallet made of duct tape. In fact, I think I may go try and make one sometime this week, if only to see if I can do it.

I never saw a PURSE made out of it, though. Thats fucking awesome. Did you make them yourself? Could you give a girl some tips? ^_^

Nah, I didn't have one. They don't have enough tape for the size of the purse I carry, lol.

It was actually one friend that made it for us, since hers were the most durable (well, as durable as duct tape can get). I think she had a lot of time on her hands and it was trial and error. The only thing I know for sure was that she always used scissors and never ripped them by hand. I wish that I had pictures of it. :/

I use to never iron my clothes. So I'd show up in really wrinkled denim-over-t-shirts and look like a pile of laundry.

Thats about as crazy as I got when it came to clothes.

jRev Mar 30, 2006 01:04 PM

God, pogs. I don't think our teachers ever confiscated them, but they did amass a huge collection of Magic cards, which were banned but all the gamer geeks brought anyway. By the time we graduated from grade school, the teachers actually had some of the cards' casting costs memorized. OH TWO BLUE MANA AND ONE COLORLESS MANA GIVE ME THAT

I went a week (or a month, I don't remember) in grade school wearing like four snap bracelets on each arm everyday. I was the coolest kid in school for five whole minutes.

I had a shirt plastered with Garbage Pail Kids stickers. I wore it under my uniform and flashed the goods at my friends.

We never really wrote dedications in our yearbooks, because we scrawled them all over each other's uniforms with markers on the last day of high school. I think I lost that shirt, though. Too bad.

Azral Mar 30, 2006 07:04 PM

I went to school in my boxers, a bathrobe, and hiking boots a few times... it was really relaxing ^_^

Filthy Turk.

I used to wear this odd combination of ripped jeans and like old t-shirts I had, some of them were cool, like I had a pixies shirt and a butthole surfers shirt, those I used to wear a lot and I'd sport the retro-brett-hart-style sunglasses. At one point I went through this phase where I'd wear this pair of red cover-alls I had with the sleeves ripped off, I thought I was cool, but I ended up just looking like I belonged on-stage with Devo.

Does wearing shorts every single day count as cool or tool? I was the king of no pants until college. >.>

Alice Apr 1, 2006 09:11 PM

You guys all lose. I used to have a mullet. That's right, I said mullet.

Also, this was back in the late 80s when the grunge look was on the cutting edge of fashion, and I used to wear the acid washed jeans with high-heeled boots, and a long-john shirt under an open flannel shirt.

I am not even kidding.

Nahual Apr 1, 2006 09:28 PM

I cut my hair last year and accidentaly gave myself a mullet. I kept it for a week then I got annoyed of people saying,"a mullet! big no no"

So I shaved my hair off and then I went to school the next day and some kid said, "dude, what happened to the mullet?!"

Guess he thought it was cool.

Oh yeah, you know how there's ALWAYS one person who wears sandals even in the dead of winter? Well, I witnessed a corollary to that law, in which someone wore a heavy coat and those boots with fur, despite the fact that it was 75 degrees out.

Yeah, Yama, I agree. It's annoying and uncool to see some people walking around with shorts and sandals on in cold weather. What makes it even worse is when they top it off by wearing a heavy coat. It's like, what's the point? Go all out and look half-crazy instead of making it worse. I never really understood that.

Eleo Apr 4, 2006 03:11 AM

Man, we had strict uniforms. Couldn't get away with so much as an earring.

Haha I've seen people like that. But add socks to the sandals. That has to be one of the ugliest fashion trends (if you could even call it one) I've ever seen.

Amy-Chan Apr 5, 2006 01:08 PM

When I was in kindergarten my mom put patches all over this pair of jeans I had.
THEY WERE GREATFUL DEAD PATCHES!! I used to get stared at by teachers when I wore them and I always wondered why. They were just bears!

Every couple of years I would make a paperclip necklace/bracelet set, but they had to be coored paperclips ^_^

Good grief! They should just go ahead and ADD PANTS to the equation so it at least looks like some form of an outfit!

Amy-Chan ~ I used to do something similiar. I used to rock friendship bracelets after they went out. I would make them while I was in class or at home. I thought I was it when I figured out how to get the fish design in the bracelet. :edgartpg:

Did you see my post? Mullet with jeans jacket. I so need to dig up some pictures.

Wearing all black (dark blue/grey, whatever) for a year. In the spring, winter, fall, and........... summer. What a complete mistake, I have learned my lesson. I felt cool all right.

Sian Apr 8, 2006 06:11 AM

Well here in Britland you have to wear a school uniform for the 5 whole years of High School, so you can't really get away with wearing crazy stuff. I did however have my stripey hobo gloves as I like to call them, those gloves where half of your finger is exposed, before it was cool. About 30 young emo kids asked me where I got them from and soon enough loads of people were wearing them. Get me, a trend setter. I don't wear them as much now but I still have them.

I think the most daring I got in terms of clothing for school was wearing my own jacket over my jumper to substitute the evil blazers we had to wear. I had this huge Nightwish jacket I always wore, made me look like a hippo but it kept me warm.

Right now i'm in college and you can wear whatever you want, however due to lack of money I can't really experiment with cool clothes since I can't afford them ;_;. It's the kinda college where you can wear anything and people wouldn't care. I saw a guy wearing a purple cloak and a wizards hat the other month.

We had a uniform policy, but I still managed some cool shit.

I had blue hair for a half a year. Still not sure how I got away with that.

I had this khaki jacket (only blue/white/khaki was allowed), and I let people write all over it. Their names, slogans, jokes, sayings, quotes, someone loves someone, phone numbers, complimenting my hotness, etc. It was basically a mobile graffiti wall.
That's my favorite one.

I also managed to get away with wearing costumes, fake facial hair, bandanas, and god knows what else.
I wore mismatched socks, but that had more to do with me not having any matching pairs than anything else.
