Agreed. I ended up passing out one time when I was taking a blood test. It wasn't the blood rushing out of me that bothered me. It was the damn needle.

On top of that, I hate shots.

I also hate those shaver things that barbers use on you to trim your hair. Whenever they use it on the back of my neck, I always seem to cringe.

I seem to remember a news story about a guy in the Baltimore/DC area who was actually doing that in a mall parking lot several years ago. He may have just been hiding under there and then pulling people down to mug them though; I can't recall.

I'm not sure if you could really call it a full-blown fear or simply being way too self-conscious, but I'm often afraid of walking funny. I don't mean Ministry of Silly Walks funny either. It started back when I was in elementary school and a teacher asked me out of nowhere why I was walking with a limp. She was most likely going crazy from paint fumes (I swear that school had a seperate fund just for murals), but ever since then I've worried about unconsciously walking strangely. Of course focusing on it really does produce a strange walk, so I have to force myself to think about something else again. The thought never crosses my mind if I'm out with other people though.

Deserted narrow hallways make me paranoid even if they aren't very long. I always imagine something coming up from behind or lunging out of a doorway. Hell, for the first few months I lived in my apartment I didn't want to walk down the tiny hallway at night if the hall light was the only one turned on, because it gave the white walls an abandoned sanitarium feel. Doesn't help matters much that I discovered a very faded red spot on one side that resembled old blood after living here for about year.

A few more weird fears, mostly involving my ass. Bear with me...

I read a news story once that this woman was on the toilet, and there was A SNAKE in there that LUNGED UP AND BIT HER ON THE ASS. I've had that fear ever since.

A similar fear is whenever I kill a bee, I toss it in the toilet for future flushing. I've had this fear that the bee is going to come to life and sting the inside of my ass when I'm taking a dump.

I am terrified of the oven. I hate cooking, but when it comes to the oven, I'll put something in it, but I will not take anything HOT out of it. I used to be terrified of fire alarms. It's kinda funny actually. At my parents' old house both of my sisters slept in the same room with me. Anyway, we had this fire alarm that was on drugs, it would sound it's alarm every once in a while for NO reason. My parents taught us that when the fire alarm would sound, we were to open the french doors to our bedroom to the backyard, go over the fence and to the street, and lol, they told us to bang on the light pole and yell "fire." Sounds retarded huh? One night when I was like 13. I went to bed wearing only a sports bra and undies. The fire alarm sounded and I headed out the back door without thinking. I'm terrified of getting burnt, if you haven't figured it out already.

Heh, you would have loved the one dorm room I had. The top of the bed was about two feet from the fire alarm because the bed was lofted.

We were also all fined for a kid that pulled the fire alarm so his buddies that were being busted for underaged drinking could get away.

I have a fear of painful and/or unuseual death. I'm perfectly fine with the idea of dying of oldage/other bodily complications/attacked in some mannor but the thought being killed in any other way scares the crap out of me.

I have a fear of people touching my neck. Oddly enough, nobody ever tries to do such a thing until they know I have this fear. I wonder if it's connected.

When I was little, that emergency broadcast shit on television would seemingly come on all the time. And every time I heard it, it seemed like everything else in the world stopped and got quiet, just so I could listen in to the sound. I always used to think like a vampire or werewolf or some creature intent on killing me in an extremely messy manner was gonna slowly climb up the stairs from my basement and murder me.

SouthJag: I HATE that sound. That and some (not all) of the severe weather alert sounds that channels will play if there's a tornado or flood warning.

For some reason, when I sit in the back of a car I'm always worried the door will fly open and I'll fall out at top speed. Even when I'm strapped in, even when the door is locked, there's always the thought in the back of my head.

I've had a fear of vomiting since I was little. Fortunately it's helped keep me safe in a family with a history of alcoholism.

I'm terrified of that nonexistent thing under my bed that I keep thinking will grab my feet when i get out of bed at night.

Hey, I'm 25 and I shut the door to my bedroom when I go to bed. I remain afraid someone might sneak in and murder me if I leave it open.

I don't like really thin metal wires. Not the flexible type used for menial crafts but the ones that are sort of like string and are used by the CIA to choke terrorists.

Or at least the movies tell me so. Anyways they freak me out.

Wow, people have weird fears indeed. I mean, clipping your nails, fire alarms, talking to people on the phone, not cleaning ears.. I mean.. WOW!! I just don't get it, that's why I think they're called "weird".

Anyways, I'm a kinda afraid of reptiles/amphibans (snakes, frogs), which I think is non-weird since it's pretty common.

LOL, you'll love this one Vemp. A full set of teeth freak the fuck out of me. If I see a large set of teeth yapping and all grinning (thankfully this is rare) chomper like, you can bet me running the hell away from that person.

I was going to make an entry about this when I saw a customer with that chomper like jaws, I'd freak every time I see someone with such a huge toothed grin. Weird thing is, I'm fine with ads with models showing off their teeth, but if I look at toothed smiles every so often, I'd feel so alienated. Even if they may be perfect or plain gangly, the mere thought of TEETH with that face... eek. I'm not a fan of toothed smiles in photos.

Aside from the rather boring fear of spiders and pretty much any kind of insect (including butterflies), I am also terrified of peel-open cans, like someboy else said here, and getting my finger-/toenails harmed. A bit of my fingernail broke off the other day, leading to about one drop of blood and a tiny scratch, and I started shaking and freaking out - it was pretty ridiculous, considering that I have no problem with larger injuries on some other body part. Also, I'm not hugely afraid of it, but I don't really touch my own eye, and I hate watching people put in or take out their contact lenses. In a hotel room, I never choose the bed/side closer to the door, and if I do, I can't sleep with my back to it. Last but not least, I hate knowing that something that will make me jump (and I'm very jumpy) is going to happen in a moment, for example, when you walk up the stairs and you know someone else is there, or you know someone might come into your room any second, or a car might drive by outside in the middle of the night, or when you watch a scary movie (which I hardly ever do). If I anticipate that, I make sure that my feet are off the ground, because for some reason, that feels safer than having them on the ground (e.g. while watching a scary movie).

I have a similar fear. Not only do I shut my bedroom door [Because I have a feeling something's watching me if I don't have it shut], but I have to shut any other doors in my room, like my closer door. Its not exactly a fear of a monster in the closer, but a fear of...something watching me. Go figure.

I dread going anywhere near anything nuclear powered - like reactors that generate electrical power, or laboratories that experiment with nuclear reactions.......Anything nuclear or radioactive freaks me out.

• Skydiving with a failed parachute = sucks

I'm terrified of the nonexistent goblin-creature that will surely bite off my toes if I hang my feet over the end of the bed when I'm sleeping. I'm also 20. I think this fear comes from my cats clawing and biting the hell out of my toes in my sleep growing up.
