Not to bitch since 50 degrees to me is freezing cold but when I lived in an apartment with a shitty heater that cost 60$ a month to operate (and I live by myself in a 1 bedroom then), I had to decide whether to eat or possibly freeze in a fetal position. Some nights I caved and basked in the warm glow, only to eat bread and nutella for days after.
Now I live in a place with low ceilings so I can heat a room with dinky space heater from the 70s. |

The heater better not break with the amount of money I pay in this residence!
I totally couldn't imagine losing the heat when it is -40 up here.... |
Well, I once lived in a place where there was central heating. It was below freezing point outside, but inside it was like a steam house. The heater would keep my apartment at a nice 80 degrees Fahrenheit or about 27 degrees Celsius. It was either to turn of the heater and freeze, or leave it on and sweat.
