Well three of those at least has the main character in them :(

They'll probably change it so you play as the skeleton. "Everyone loves skeletons!" "Sir.. well, I.. I don't know if people are going to be too happy about this change!" "But EVERYONE loves skeletons" "Yes sir ;__;" "NO SAYING SMILEYS OUT LOUD IN MY OFFICE"

HELLO FRIENDS. IT IS I, BUMPS MCKENZIE AGAIN. :cmb:

So this is out in the Americanada now, ultra budget priced at $15 on PS2 and $20 for the Wii version ($5 extra for wiggle waggle jiggle jaggle hippin' and a hoppin'). There's some still screen art for the introduction story bit which is in Engrish, then AWAY YOU GO.

It's really not too bad, nowhere near the level of Pocky & Rocky, but eh... ultra budget price! The levels are pretty huge and often allow you to explore miles away for secrets and stuff. Move around, shoot the bazillions of smiling enemies (with your magic snowballs). There are certain areas in each level that lock you onto one screen as hundreds of goons fly in from the side, you can rack up some pretty rad combos.

Boss battles have been pretty creative so far. Also brutal. This game fucks you up something shocking. Graphics are, well... crappy. Very, veerrry basic 2D, not up to what those initial screens looked like at all. Some of the later environments are nice though. Music's cheerful and vomits rainbows at you. Fun fact; the game has no save function. Start from the beginning every time. D:

505's picked it up for a PAL release in July, and it comes complete with a much nicer box art.

But they plan on charging full price, so fuck it. I'll stick with my ugly US Wii box art.

Oh yeah, if you have a PS2 and a Wii (who doesn't have a PS2? MOLE PEOPLE?) get the PS2 one. Wii version merely adds an option of horrific motion controls.

Sweet ass box art, even if the actual title logo simply looks ass.

I'm confused now, have they removed any mention/relation to Kikikaikai (DEVIL KINGS) or are there simply more characters?

The whole thing has changed. There are some familiar enemies, but the game is now about Sayuki the ice princess or whoever she is falling in love with a school boy in town. But she's too shy to tell him. Then one day Sakyuki finds out he's gotten sick (via GOSSIP), and goes on a quest to find the cure. MAYBE INSTANT LOVERS WHEN SHE SAVES THE DAY. There's no mention of WHY everything is trying to kill you along the way. :gonk:

Awesome. Best love story ever.

Kinda wish they'd kept Pocky & Rocky as unlockables or something :(

Oh man. Super cool.

Been waiting on this for a while.

Why do they look like browser based flash games ;_;
How old are you?

3D games are a new development, you see. Before all of this Playstationmahbobs and Xboxen, games were in 2D.

Is the US version called Heavenly Guardian? I still have a PS2... somewhere. It's been a DVD player for the past four years or so.

I got this since I live in americanada a few weeks ago. It's a pretty cool over head shooter. Not as flexible like pocky and rocky 2 but it's solid. I beat one play through on normal and then got another picture show saying how
Spoiler:
he was just paralyzed
and you go through the levels again but with increased difficulty but it took some 2-3 hours to get through the first play through and I was ready to quit for that sitting. The bad thing is there is no saving between levels or during play so I had to kill myself going through my small stock of lives through the first run so I could unlock level select for beating it.

It has a two player co-op play but I haven't played it yet as no one wants to touch something with so much color. (Not enough brown apparently) All in all, it's a great arcade shooter.

It doesn't have good reviews, but then again, most old school arcadey titles don't now days.

"It's too simple" usually translates to "it has a well-defined and unobtrusive game mechanic". People these days are so hard to please.

This looks like any one of hundreds of pc shareware shooters from the 90's. What a massive step back in time in terms of game development. That anyone was ever excited about this is odd, that people are still considering paying for it now it's out is beyond belief.

Don't buy shit like this, you'll only encourage them.

Django! May 20, 2008 11:45 PM

Old school arcade games? Seems a bit too entrenched in the old school, but that doesn't mean it's devoid of gameplay or fun.

People said the same thing about Red Star, and that game was good.

But you mindlessly shoot stuff non-stop! It's essentially the same as what makes up the current generations big name games, except it's 2D. :cmb: To be fair, it's not exactly ever going to burn up the sales charts (or even be stocked by most stores), and the publishers are pretty aware of that.

At least, I hope so.
