If you've reset your passkey more than once, you'll have to download the .torrent files over again to ensure they're encoded with the right passkeys.

ashmountains Aug 29, 2007 08:47 AM

I think you should move the "Reset passkey" link away from "Tracker Stats" in the menu. My clumsy fingers have caused me to nearly click the "Reset passkey" instead of the other. Tricksy buttons :(

Bigblah Aug 29, 2007 08:53 AM

I'll move it into the UserCP. Going to write a script to generate passkeys for all active users.

shadoweave Aug 29, 2007 09:37 AM

Hmm. I did redownload the torrent files after I accidentally clicked it. But still no go.

Bigblah Aug 29, 2007 09:41 AM

Open up the torrent file and check whether the key after the announce.php URL is the same as the one I PM'ed you.

shadoweave Aug 29, 2007 10:25 AM

Nope. It's not. I PMed you the one I had...

EDIT: Kinda works now. Thanks a lot Bigblah!

This looks like a great idea, excellent work Blah! I'm very eager to see what this'll bring us in the future.

think you can fix that minimum postcount setting for the hide tag now? =D

FatsDomino Aug 29, 2007 11:42 AM

Mo0, he could have easily have said "Google it, retard monkey." but he didn't. =/

Also, this looks pretty sweet. =))

Well, that would've had redeeming humor value! As it is it's just mean.

Also yeah, it does. =o

FatsDomino Aug 29, 2007 11:46 AM

Monkeys make everything funny. =)

Bigblah Aug 29, 2007 12:13 PM

User tracker stats are now shown in the postbit as well as the profile page.

THE POWER OF WATER Aug 29, 2007 12:49 PM

Voices currently has over four billion seeders. :o

Bigblah Aug 29, 2007 12:53 PM

FIX IT CHZ

Basil Aug 29, 2007 01:07 PM

Well, I see two possible solutions. The first would be for me to seed the torrent, making the number roll back over to 0. However, since I can't run BT on campus, that won't work. :(

So I guess you'll just have to give me root server access. :(

Finally, a reason to visit Gamingforce.

Can I get some FLAC rips.

Of course I will seed depending on my mood.

It gets cached by the browser. It can be fixed in vbb but it'd take some custom hacking. Just clear your cache if it happens again or edit the announce url in your torrent client.

@Chz loooooooooooooooooool I didn't think it would be this popular

blah, I think I know what it happened, it started seeding as an unregistered torrent, and after registering it never incremented the seed count. Had no problem decrementing, obviously. Why is beyond me, guess I should have stopped it first.

btw mine are only active from 5p-8a PST.

I poked it and it made a sad sound Aug 29, 2007 04:29 PM

So, I am not really knowledgeable about torrents and trackers and things, but I use'em.

And this is, quite possibly, the best addition to GFF since the journals. Maybe even better.

If I could prop Blah's work a million times over, I would.

Testing, with some nice music for those of you who are interested;

packrat Aug 29, 2007 08:20 PM

So, I'm not sure if this came through with the last update, or whether it was due to the addition of the tracker stats, but I've noticed that several profile pages are essentially broken.

I can't identify a particular pattern to this glitch either. I see that Killy, Celes Chere, and magi's profile pages turns up just fine, but mine, Night Phoenix, and sprouticus's don't(random selections).

Edit:
Also, there is a bug in the tracker system. I can still download torrents, despite the fact that I deleted the passkey from the announce URL.

Bigblah Aug 29, 2007 09:03 PM

Fixed the template.

Are you sure it's a bug packrat? You know torrents can still download if you have enough info on peers, even if you can't connect to the tracker, right? Also, if you're downloading foxy's Voices torrent, that one has multiple trackers so it doesn't count.

packrat Aug 29, 2007 10:37 PM

There might be something running behind the scenes then. I'm only aware of the most basic of concepts behind bittorrent. I'm no CS. :(

All I know is that I downloaded the GoW torrent Tails uploaded, removed the passkey from the announce URL before doing anything else, and now I'm downloading at full speed from all seeders.

koifox Aug 29, 2007 10:46 PM

If you connect once almost all clients will cache peers, even if you stop and restart after changing it. uTorrent and Azureus will dump peers if you change the announce URL on a private tracker, but this one tracker's too lame to even have a private option, let alone send it. (You need encrypted torrent files for one.) Bitcomet won't do shit since it's made to be a leech client. :p

Then again, since it lets you track unregistered torrents, it's probably buggy enough to not properly validate the passkey all the time. Wouldn't surprise me at all.

The tracker will reject you anyhow. Check your tracker status in uTorrent.

Foxy, announce.php checks the string length of passkey, before anything else. A fix will be coming to prevent unregistered torrents.

Additional Spam:
Tracker disabled because it's insecure as shit.

Will work on integrating phpbttracker+ instead when I get back from vacation, which is in 3 weeks. Thanks for testing!
