I simply cannot stand raw tomatoes, I'll tolerate them on my burgers if I can't taste them but otherwise I can't stand their texture. I will however gladly consume products derived from tomatoes like tomato sauce or whatnot. However I have yet to actually try tomato juice, it sometimes looks just like mashed up tomatoes which to me is no different really from just eating it before its smashed.

I like tomatoes. Preferably raw though. Nice n' fresh :)

Just wondering, what type of cooked tomato?

I like them raw, cooked, tomato sauce (mmmm Italian food).
I guess I'm a tomato fan. :P

Tomatoes are one of my favorite veggies, and have been since I was I kid. I like them cooked, but prefer them raw, with a little salt sprinkled on (which brings out the flavor). In fact, when I eat salads with tomatoes in them I usually save them for last so I can savor the flavor on their own. Texture has never been an issue for me, as I don't mind the sometimes mushy quality of an over-ripe tomato (which are not good anyway.) Every time I see someone leave their tomato at a restaurant I can't help but be amazed at how they are depriving themselves of something so good.

I put tomatoes in most of my dishes. It's a very mild way to add lots of juice.

Men should make a habit of eating raw and processed tomatoes every day. Lycopene FTW.

Tomatoes are poisonous to me. They are technically fruits, and all fruits wreck havoc on my body because I'm allergic to citric acid.

One night I ordered a burger from a local Dennys and specifically asked them not to put tomatoes on it. Of course, I realized that there WERE tomatoes on it after two bites into the burger, and ended up throwing up in the parking lot in a matter of minutes. That was the only time I can remember where I've ever ingested a tomato. I do love ketchup, though.

I love cherry tomatoes with a little bit of vinaigrette and salt and pepper. A great snack!

But I'm not completely dependent upon tomatoes. I could go without. Sometimes I'd rather not have tomatoes on hot sandwiches and the like, because they have a tendency to get mushy and gross. =(

nitsu Aug 27, 2007 02:11 PM

I want to love tomatoes. They look so delicious, smell so good, but they taste awful.
I do however love things cooked with tomatoes, and things made from tomatoes. I just can't stand tomatoes by themselves. :(

Garnet Aug 28, 2007 09:46 AM

I absolutely can not stand tomatoes. They are just so nasty! I refuse to ever eat one again.

I love Ketchup though. ;p

matira_bay Sep 5, 2007 09:09 AM

Same with above. Love ketchup, not raw tomatoes.
To me, raw tomatoes taste fishy, and sometimes I can't stand the texture of tomatoes.

In my old house, my mom use to grow yam leaf and tiny tomato across the street in a community garden. Those tiny tomato are awesome, despite the fact they are grown on dog craps. >.>;;

Well, we eat lots of crops grown on craps, either on animal pups or human pups. There is no need to be shy.

Additional spam: Could we say ketchup to be alike as tomatoes?

knkwzrd Sep 5, 2007 10:30 PM

I very rarely eat tomatoes because I don't care much for the texture, though I usually enjoy tomato sauces. I don't mind the odd diced tomato in most dishes. A lot of people I know will have a hamburger with a slice of tomato and a bunch of ketchup, which is something I don't think I'll ever understand.

scotty Sep 5, 2007 10:51 PM

I really hate the taste and texture. I hate Italian food like lasagna and spaghetti because I hate tomato sauce. My parents learned not to make me foods with tomatoes because I would not eat it and skip dinner. I accidentally ate a bit of tomato in my burger a few days ago and puked from disgust.

The unmovable stubborn Sep 5, 2007 11:04 PM

What kind of shitty, over-ripe tomatoes are you guys eating that the texture is offensive? Tomatoes don't HAVE a texture, they're just water balloons full of delicious.

Tomatoes have strange smell, strange flavour, and strange taste. I don't find strange texture.

Therefore I conclude:
Tomatoes are aliens made to destroy us all.

By the way:

You're talking about watermelons here.

The unmovable stubborn Sep 6, 2007 12:07 AM

Watermelon is delicious but it is messy and must be fought with knives in order to surrender the delicious =/

Dullenplain Sep 6, 2007 12:34 AM

Now if there's one thing that makes me gag, it's watermelon.

Ozma Sep 6, 2007 06:14 AM

I couldn't agree more.

My dad grows tomatoes. =O They're amazing.

Ayos Sep 7, 2007 02:01 AM

Apathetic. At times, do not want. At times, do want. Most times, do not care.

Ketchup is teh awesome though. As is spaghetti sauce.

One of my co-workers is a vegetarian and her and her cousin grow their own vegetables. Just a couple of weeks ago she brought a couple of lbs. of tomatoes for us and I brought a couple home and made some AWESOME salsa with some of my dad's homegrown tree chili peppers and onions.

Homegrown fruits and veggies are awesome

I second that question.

You guys are making me envious with all this talk of homegrown foods. I need to move somewhere that isn't all desert so I can do the same. :(
