I wonder if it'll be up the same day so I can leave it overnight. Anyway, I found the other eyecatch to episode 25.

Spoiler:
There's talk of Boota talking on a humanoid form to look like that guy from episode one, and that might be possible since Guame was apparently Lord Genome's "Boota". Something to do with absorbing enough spiral energy to evolve.

SuperDK Sep 18, 2007 05:05 AM

Newfag comin' through.

To be honest, the first time I heard about this, I didn't think the show was going to be good. After six episodes, people hyping the show, Yoko, I finally caved in and decided to watch. Fucking shit, my head asploded as soon as I saw episode 2. This is the very first anime that I've actually followed through all the way, although I don't really watch anime/anything...so I guess my opinion means jack shit.

Episode 25. I can't even think of what to say. I'm just fucking speechless.

Guys, I think I need a hug.

Arucard Sep 19, 2007 06:02 AM

/me gives hug to SuperDK
man ep 25 was just FUCKING awesome, I can't wait to see what they got in store for 26 and 27

this is the 3rd time the show has given me teary eyes, and I'm gonna be so sad when lagann ends...whatever the ending may be, I'm still gonna be sad by waving goodbye to lagann ='(

CHEERS for gainax they've done it again let's just hope the ending isn't a little on the screwy side

Ashton Sep 20, 2007 11:46 PM

Who likes Yoko when there's Darry?

ep 26

I CAME DRILLS

Arucard Sep 23, 2007 07:51 AM

indeed holy mother of all that is drilling
ep 26 was just O_O

Metal Sphere Sep 23, 2007 11:01 AM

Yeah, it was pretty nice.

Spoiler:
Interesting to see that Yoko really did feel something towards Kittan since it showed up in that dream world of hers. Viral's was really out of the blue, though it was touching that he wanted such a simple life. Also, seeing Kamina and the other folks again was great.

And the professor + Genome as teachers got a chuckle out of me.

Rocca Sep 23, 2007 01:27 PM

Seriously, to think they topped episode 25 is ridiculous. One more left! :)

Yeah and they did it rather unexpectedly too.

Spoiler:
I was expecting them to chock this episode full of action to surpass the last one, but the alternate realities thing was an awesome idea. We got to see Kamina and the dead folks again.

Though Nia's awesome can't be denied, that part made me grin from ear to ear. Episode preview looks wild, first mecha on mecha battle for quite some time.

Rocca Sep 25, 2007 09:03 PM

Yeaaaah, rock on man. A bunch of us in a Tenga Toppa group linked a bunch of the sketchy images from the preview and found

Spoiler:
what looks to be the final form of Gurren Lagann, which is rumoured and pretty much confirmed to be called the Tenga Toppa Gurren Lagann. EPIC.

Metal Sphere Sep 26, 2007 12:48 PM

Spoiler:
Yeah, it's been pointed out for a while now that in the intro there was a mech that dwarfed CGGL and had mouths everywhere. And now we get the episode preview and there we see it, hellish mouths (one large one for the torso, kind of like the Lasengan that Genome piloted). I'll see if I can upload my picture of it.

Here it is, apparently it has a flaming cape or fire coming out of it. Either way, it looks wild and in the preview it also shows it uses Yoko's rifle which lends some credence to the idea that it might be the specialties of Yoko+Attenborough+Gimmy+Darry along with Simon.

IT FIRES NONOS!

Holy shit.

I saw the top-most image in the previews and it was posted a few times on /m/, but I never saw the fully assembled piece. That's just ridiculously awesome and insane, right there.

Gainax seems to have a problem with believable scale.
Now I understand that the current version of the Gurren Lagann is on a celestial scale and all, what with it once being the fucking moon; and I get this whole exponential-growth/spiral thing they're implying; but man, this is fucking ridiculous.

Spoiler:
Definitely, you can tell they're really aiming for larger than life sizes here. I seriously don't know how they're going to top size like this in some as of yet unannounced anime, without jumping to universe sized mechs. Only thing I can think of that's probably larger is Getter Emperor and that "wins" the scale competition because it keeps absorbing getter rays and growing.

Doesn't bother me, as long as the anti-spiral fights with his own huge machine and pulls some godlike moves.

Ah, looks like I wasn't seeing things when I mentioned the fire/flames behind it. Seems like they're a different color, though can could be due to to a number of things (it could just be like that for the initial transformation, for example). Another thing that I seem to have overlooked, since I started wondering if they had overcompensated for CGGL by removing the drills, but the body itself is made of them. Legs and arms are pretty obvious.

What happened to your GAR, pack? >w<

By the time Kamina pull off GIGA DRILL BREAKER I am already on full suspension mode.

Cirno Sep 29, 2007 09:12 PM

So episode 27 aired today. Gurren Lagann's come to an end.

And I came so many times, but manly, MANLY tears were shed at the end.

...I cried like a bitch.

Just watched the raw...

BRICKS HAVE BEEN SHAT

Now I just need to wait for the subs to come out so I can watch for understanding, then it will be complete.

Also, still can't wait until October when I get the soundtrack for lossless deliciousness.

Ashton Sep 30, 2007 02:31 AM

Speaking of the OST, is there any opera that's as fucking awesome as the one that's been there since ep 25? That's probably the best use of opera ever.

Metal Sphere Sep 30, 2007 02:57 AM

Man, all those fears about Gainax delivering one of their trademark crap endings have been laid to rest. That was fucking great, I especially like that last part. Definitely in my top 3, that's for sure.

Spoiler:
Fuck man, I just had to edit my post and mention this. The goddamn time skip really made the ending bittersweet on top of Simon losing Nia, but it was still great. Completely unexpected considering the ending some folks were expecting (complete mindfuck or 100% happy end).

Conan-the-3rd Sep 30, 2007 04:38 AM

The ending is completley ludicrous as far as I'm concerned.

I think I'll jump off the boat at ep 15, ta.

Ashton Sep 30, 2007 12:13 PM

The ending was fine. You just haven't kicked reason to the curb yet.

Dave1988 Sep 30, 2007 01:58 PM

Well that settles it. Gurren-Lagann is my no 1 anime of all time *salutes*

Arucard Sep 30, 2007 03:25 PM

Because Drills are a MANS ROMANCE!

I'm stuck on ep 23 until I can get more from my friend but this has easily been the best anime this season.

I want to belive in the idea of Kicking reason to the curb, but Simon just gives up even after the impossible was presented to him.

Actauly, if the show ended without Hobo-Simon, I could of just about bought it.
